Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 43.14 Hotel ... avoid at all costs
Avoid this hotel at all costs !!!! This 3.14 Hotel is "all show, and no substance" .... I was in Cannes in Jan. 2009 along with 10000 other participants at the international MIDEM music business conference .... It became very clear to me just how much this hotel had decided to take advantage of the situation, predatorily over-charge unjustifiably and ruthlessly, and provide a truly marginal and forgettable experience ... although the aesthetic elements in the hotel would suggest the possibility of an experience of the highest caliber, indeed the staggering lack of attention to detail and wanton arrogance of the staff and pricing practices left me with absolutely no desire to ever return there, let alone recommend this place to even my worst enemy ... I was charged an insanely high room-rate for a "Superior" room that was anything but... the room was unbelievably small, confined, adorned with a fleabag motel-quality tv displaying 5 channels (not the norm in Europe any longer), an incredibly un-nerving set of light switches, and a bed that was not attached to the bedframe such that each time I got in it, it slid away from the headboard by at least 1 foot ... the hotel was not located on a main street in Cannes but rather a side street with fundamentally a "stretch-your-head-way-way-out-over-the-balcony-to-catch-a-glimpse-of-the-waterfront" kind of view ... no internet connection via wifi or in-room ethernet connection (even the local McDonald's offered free wifi), and I was even told by the hotel concierge to steal wifi from the Carlton hotel across the road ... unconcsionable, indeed unbelievable, considering what I was paying per night ... My room over looked a construction dirt-pit, worker noise began early in the morning ... and finally, and most proposterous, every hotel room in europe offers a continental breakfast as part of the room price, but at the 3.14 you could be "privildeged" to have the breakfast for an incredibly and unbelievably expensive amount of
