OK lets start with the missrepresentatation on the room reviews we took two "Junior suite Pool view" with a described as: "1 king bed or 2 double beds. Pool view. 75 square meters (807 square feet). Complimentary wireless Internet access, air conditioning, LCD television, living area, in-room safe, 3 telephones, coffee maker, minibar, hair dryer, makeup/shaving […] mirror, and complimentary toiletries. These rooms are non-smoking." In this hotel what they call a "Junior Suite" is the Superior room which is just an extended version of the regular room. After we complained to the front desk about the missrepresentation they moved us to the closest room to the description which is the "Family Room" described as: "This city view room measures 775 square feet (70 square meters). Complimentary wireless Internet access keeps you connected, and the 32-inch LCD television offers premium TV channels. Request an in-room massage. A coffee/tea maker and a refrigerator are provided. Bathroom amenities include complimentary toiletries and a hair dryer. A safe, air conditioning, and a separate living room are among the conveniences offered. This room is Non-Smoking. " But as stated above its a "city view" room which literaly only looks into the construction site of the new panama subway. Further more this is the first hotel I stay that the "Suites" dont have access to the executive floor of the building. So if you plan to go to Panama on business think about another hotel.... Service ranged from ok to indifferent. Expected more from a hotel that has been at this for a while! Sincerely hope that it was because of the New Year weekend that many, not all, of the staff in the restaurants and bar areas seemed lost in another world. Stayed at the Riu on my way out of Psnama, now that is a superb hotel!

This is an old hotel, some of the rooms are upgraded (5th & 6th floors). My room was on the 6th floor and did not find out I was on the executive floor until 2 days into my stay. The breakfast was included for these 2 floors on the 5th floor and I did not know about it, and I was paying for breakfast ($18 per breakfast) all the other days.... The El Panama Hotel is centrally located and provides easy access to all in Panama City. However, the service at the hotel is slow and unsatisfactory. El Panama is a great hotel, no wonder it was the first 5 star hotel in Panama. It is definitely the best choice if you're going to Panama city, its location is the best; near drug stores, 24 hour supermarkets, McDonald's, Wendy's, strip clubs and other shopping malls. When we checked in, the front desk informed us that we could upgrade to two other options. Then he realized that he didn't have one of the options available but still showed us somebody else's room. Then told me the cost of the upgrade, I mentioned $10 lower than he offered just to bargain, instead of responding to me, he started to pack my papers and […] make my card very angrily and with no word. I said, so what about my counter offer, and he just said "NO". Staff at the restaurant don't speak English and in the morning when I said hi in Spanish (I was with my 7 year old daughter) the staff at the table just looked at us and put her head down and continued pouring water in our glasses. When I said it in a much much louder again and this time with Anger, she responded back. The maintenance people showed up (all three days) after 1:00 p.m. when our kids were getting ready to take a little nap, so we had to ask them to leave and not do their job. The room was in a very bad condition at the end of the 3 days. Also, you are right in the middle of massage parlors and brothel houses on that street. When I mentioned our concerns with the front desk, the same person, he said that no one was available to talk to me. Then a lady came forward and said that she was the supervisor and wrote down all I said without even asking what my contact info was to somehow follow up with me later. Over all, very bad experience. En general estuvo bien, solo que la habitación 224 que nos tocó tenia un fuerte olor a humedad. De resto bien calificado. La ubicación es muy buena, aunque el sector de la Vía España se ha deteriorado un poco, puede ser por las obras que se desarrollan.

The rooms were quite beautiful with dark wood furnishings and gorgeous red/grey marble in the bathrooms. The bed was sooo comfortable and good quality bed linens made it feel luxurious. We were in a room at the end of a corridor overlooking a busy street, but we weren't bothered by traffic noise, even though the metro subway construction site was right […] below us. The staff were all warm and accomodating, and most spoke English very well. The restaurants onsite had good food, and the sushi bar was beautiful with the bar being made of cream and brown colored stone underlit that made it glow with an inviting warmth! el hotel esta situado exactamente frente a la construccion del metro de Panama, tiene un lobby, un restaurante, un bar y una piscina muy bien arreglados. Estan en proceso de remodelacion de las habitaciones. Fantastisch Hotel met zeer vriendelijk personeel, schoon,hygienisch, grote kamers met buro.Het Hotel is vorig jaar gerenoveerd tot een zeer hoge standaard met moderne inrichting en uitstraling. Wij verbleven op de executive afdeling, waar tussen 17.00 en 19.00 gratis hapjes en drankjes werden aangeboden en s'ochtends word hier een klein prive ontbijtbuffet […] aangeboden. Heerlijke bedden een ruime schone badkamer, goed werkend internet,tv,muziek moderne inrichting. Al je vragen worden beantwoord met een glimlach en direct uitgevoerd. Ruime keus bij het ontbijtbuffet met de heerlijkste vruchten en op de begane grond waar toegang is voor iedereen. Het Nieuwjaarsfeest was overweldigend met fantastische live muziek waar gefeest werd tot in de vroege uurtjes.Er werd hier tevens een diner aangeboden met een overdaad aan eten. Het personeel verdiend zeker een kompliment zo vriendelijk en glimlachend kom je ze zelden tegen.Vanuit het Hotel is alles op loopafstand te bereiken in Panama city, en de havens van Amador,het eiland Taboga,de oude stad Casco Viejo het Panama kanaal,het Gamboa resort de markt alles binnen een half uur per auto te bereiken en kost nog geen 10 dollar per taxi. A tarifa de estadia ofertada pela internet deveria incluir o café da manhã. O valor de $ 14,0 por dia desestimula o hóspede e este tem que sair para comer alguma coisa próximo. Algunas noches se escucha demasiado ruido producido por grupos musicales o sonorización de salones de fiestas. El servicio de orientación turística es de primera (Ana).
