"Hub of our Trip to New Zealand"
We used the Auckland City Hotel as our hotel whenever we were in Auckland on our month-long tour of New Zealand. Our first stay was for 4 nights - we weren't too impressed with the layout of that particular room, but everything else was fine. It was a clean hotel with comfortable beds and friendly staff. But unfortunately we could not enjoy the Malaysian buffet breakfast, which my family was looking forward to, as the staff was mostly on leave for the Xmas and year -end leave. The hotel is a convenient transit stop prior walking down along Hobson Street to Sky City Intercity Coach terminal (5 minutes with luggages). If you are an Asian, there is a Korean grocery store to stock up on your morning breakfast variety. Though another store selling sushi by my country's standard. My daughter and I spent three nights at Akld City Hotel recently. We had asked for a studio apartment away from the road and that's what we were given-no road noise at all other than the odd siren and motorbike-so we both slept well given the city location.Yes, the city mission is across the road but the folk hanging around there never concerned us […] at all.Every staff member I dealt with was very pleasant and helpful. The first night I requested an extra blanket and it was delivered to our room within ten minutes.I would have rated this hotel higher but the initial housekeeping let it down slightly with several items missing from our room, however when mentioned at reception all was rectified promptly.Would definitely stay again. We stayed 2 nights at the Auckland City Hotel. It's in a decent location, but it's not really a nice hotel. I figured it wouldn't be the Ritz Carlton based on the price, but it's extremely no-frills and plain. Our room overlooked an interior rooftop (maybe the rooftop of the reception area...just think lots of air conditioning units and metal pipes). […] The room had poor lighting. 3 star is pushing it! Reasons: 1. Smell of stir fry cooking in the lobby / reception, no matter what time of day or night. 2. Room - 2 lights not working, broken handle on the window, dirty net curtain, mould [or dirt?] under door to shower. At least the bed was comfortable. 3. Breakfast - accompanied by the stir fry smell - tea and coffee just about […] lukewarm, staff uninterested, fruit salad almost non existent and tasteless, just 4 'cakes' on a plate on the buffet, a few slices of bread for us to toast. "Best hotel for the price we paid!"
Hotels.com offered the best deal for Auckland City Hotel at the time of booking on the actual day itself. It was much cheaper than the rates the hotel offers actually and so we booked for 3 nights! Hotel staff was really nice to offer us an upgrade from the Deluxe Room to the Executive Room on the 9th floor. The location of the hotel is fantastic. […] It is near to Queen St (shopping area), SkyCity and the harbour, which are within 5 to 15 minutes walking distance. The Executive room has a sliding door between the bedroom and the living room, which comprises of a sofa, coffee table and a kitchenette. Room amenities were sufficient, except that we could not find any hairdryer in the room (maybe it was hidden somewhere). There was no superb view as we were facing the opposite block of apartments. The only bad thing was the high cost of parking your personal vehicle in the hotel as it costs $25 per night. Overall, it is highly recommended to stay in this hotel as it is very comfortable and our stay was very pleasant. Definitely accounts for why the ratings are good. "Auckland City Hotel: un bon rapport qualité/prix"
Nous avons passé un bon séjour en famille dans cet hotel au mois de décembre-janvier. Seul petit reproche l'absence de climatisation qui laisse une forte chaleur dans la chambre jusqu'à tard dans la nuit (il y avait bien un ventilateur mais c'est insuffisant pour un hotel 4 etoiles). Par contre le service de restauration était fermé pour cause de travaux […] donc nous avons pris nos repas à l'extérieur (tout est à proximité). Sinon l'hotel est proche de la sky tower, du port et de queen street à pied.
