"Continental breakfast - great for early check out"
The hotel brought the continental breakfast to our room the night before, so that we could take it with us to the airport when we left at 4:15 am. This was a bonus as It included orange juice boxes, muffins (in take out boxes), granola bars, bananas, and yogurt. "Great Hotel for the Money"
We were pleasant y surprized by this hotel. Not only was this hotel only $101 CAD a night they provided breakfast. We had a two bedroom, with washer and dryer in the bathroom. Kitchen was hard to work with as there is no space to work with but good enough. There is no grocery stores in and around this area except for some small Korean types that are […] poorly stocked. No grocery stores in the downtown core. Our room overlooked the police station and occasionally there would be sirens. There is also a mission down the street and can be a bit uncomfortable walking past all these people abeit they did not bother us. I found the staff fantastic and very helpfull. There is a shuttle bus to a discount mall ask the front dest how you catch it. We had our 10 year old and 12 year old with us and they would of liked to have a pool and there is none at this hotel. But is was really nice to have a bedroom for them so they were not stuck out in the living room. "What you see is what you get"
Really good facility compared to the price you pay. The rooms are tight if more than 2 adults and 1 kid is staying. It is clean and close to the city centre and perfect for say 1 or 2 days stop over. "Had everything we needed"
Staff were pleasant and effecient. Great to be able to easily park off the street while unloading, safe for children. Although Hotel carpark was fully booked and we hadn't been advised by Hotel.com booking that this needed to be booked, free carparking was available on the street after 6pm and we were assured it was safe at we were next to Police station; […] we had no problems. The room was a nice surprise, two spacious bedrooms for a family of 5 with a perfect outlook. An extra bed was provided to the lounge area very promptly. Great kitchenette with everything possible that we needed, including a drawer dish washer. Bathroom was spacious and had a washing machine/dryer which we greatfully made use of. "Not family friendly at all"
Gutted with our stay here, we had booked in family of 5 months ahead and were given a room with two beds - no offer of a pull out sofa bed or pop-up, so one child slept on the floor on the couch cushions. The carpet was filthy. It was for a family but there was only tea/coffee satches - no drinking choc or similar for the children. Our breakfast arrived […] and one part of this was 5 muffins so dry no-one could eat them. Left the untouched four on the bench and so the next morning we recieved ONE fresh one instead of 5 fresh ones. Did they not think that maybe the muffins were left in the first place cos they were inedible?? I had to ring 3 times to get sheets for the bed and they went they were finally bought up to our room at 10.30pm they were handed over and I had to make the bed myself. Service was lacking and so were just the wee touches that make a stay with 3 children easier. Not even a box of tissues in the bathroom. Quite nicely central to most things just a pity we had to walk past all the drunk, abusive homeless people waiting on their dinner outside the city mission that was a few doors down. For the price the hotel was excellent, apart from one significant aspect: loud noise of something in the walls, perhaps ventilation, which for a light sleeper was not conducive to an excellent night's sleep. When we checked in the bedrooms had obviously not been vacuumed. When we called downstairs a staff member arrived and vacuumed. However, she neglected to vacuum the hallway outside the room which was also in need of a clean. The overall appearance of the rooms needed a spruce-up with many visible marks and signs of deterioration. The rooms were comfortable […] and warm enough. "Got a room at a higher floor"

"Auckland City Oaks - 4Star?"
A trip to the Skytower for dinner mean't we didn't want to drive to our hotel so, booking rooms at the Auckland City Oaks, we were confident that being a 4+ rated hotel we would have a comfortable nights sleep after a short walk to the hotel. The location was great, however parking was a problem and having not booked the hotel car park we had to park […] in a nearby Pay and Display that cost a small fortune and meant having to wake early to buy further time before we left. The rooms were also a disappointment. We had booked a studio apartment and a single bedroom executive apartment. On arrival we were told that we had been 'upgraded' from the executive apartment to a 2 bedroom suite. We found the 'suite' and were disapointed to find that it was quite grubby. Bits of food on the walls, lots of scuff marks and dents in the walls, grubby shower cubicle, dubious stains on the wall next to the WC. The air conditioning didn't seem to work properly and the apartment didn't smell very fresh. To top it all we got stuck in the hotel lift for 50 minutes at 2 o'clock in the morning. "Very nice hotel!"
We really enjoyed the apartment room. The kitchen was very convenient. Hotel personnel were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very adequate. The room size (we were given a double bedroom) was very spacious. Furniture was comfortable and the beds were good. The only negative thing was the washer/dryer unit. It was difficult to operate as instructions […] were not clear, The washer also ruined my Khaki pants by leaving oily stains on them which we could not remove. We were really counting on the washer/drier since we brought fewer clothes due to weight restriction by airline companies. The location was is good as we were close to shopping centers, movie theaters, restaurants, the Auckland Sky Tower, and of course the Auckland harbor.
