"Would stay here again"
The hotel room was very warm when we arrived. I notified the front desk and left for the remainder of the day. When I returned, the room felt a couple of degrees cooler so I didn't request a room change. My mistake as the room remained new 28 degrees, too hot for me to have a comfortable night sleep. We were informed when booking room that there would be wireless internet service. To our great surprise, when arriving at the hotel and asking for the password to connect to the server, we were told we did not qualify for that . . . that we would have to pay extra for that service. Maybe because we stayed at the Hilton in Athens the previous night and had an outstanding experience, the Hilton in Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was disappointing. The room was on the 1st floor, with questionable safety because one could walk up to the window from the outside if they so wanted. There was no view, the window was overlooking a cement "yard" […] and an ugly square storage warehouse. We kept the curtains closed. The room and bathroom had some dust, and old features. The shower had a curtain that was hard to get it off your body while taking a shower. "Maybe sometime"
I stayed at the Hilton because of the special rate on offer thru Expedia. The hotel was much further then indiciated from the airport terminal and too far to walk with cases. The recepetion was not very welcoming and only interested in selling extra services. The internet was advertised as "available" but not clearly stated that it cost Euro 22,00 / […] day or Euro 27,00 for a business connection. The room was adequate but defintiely not 4 star. "Good location, pleasant hotel, small rooms"
Location is good for airport access. We were flying out early the next morning so it helped to be close to the terminal. Be warned though, if you choose to walk to the terminal, not all of the walk is inside or even covered, unlike the Sheraton, which is entirely inside the terminal buildings. You have a short walk to the start of the airport buildings […] then a long walk inside to the actual terminal. The rooms are small, which is normal for hotels in mainland Europe, but the room was very clean. We arrived at 10am and even though check in was not till 3pm, they had our room ready for us within 45 mins. Breakfast is extremely expensive and did not start in time for our departure at 5am. I booked this hotel because I was under the impression that it was attached to the airport. Well, it's really not. After one walks past the Sheraton, one has to take a lift to street level and cross a parking lot. It's not a massive sacrifice, but it's not really attached, either. "Everything was broken!"
My luggage didnt arrive so I decided to stay in and have room service and hand wash my laundry. Once the laundry was wet, i went looking for the room service menu- couldnt find it... I thought maybe I could find it online- no cable.. decided to call the front desk- the phone didnt work. I had to go to the lobby and tell them of the problems. "Beds far to hard"
We took the hotel shuttle from the airport when checking in because we had our bags. The shuttle runs regularly but don't cut it too close when catching a flight in case you have just missed the shuttle. The walk is manageable as long as you don't have a lot to carry. Our major problem with this hotel were the beds. We had 2 rooms with 2 beds each and […] all the beds were extremely hard -- not firm, hard. I like a firm mattress so I discounted the comments by other Expedia travelers about the "firm" beds. This was a mistake. the bed was so hard I did not sleep well. Everything else was fine -- the location, breakfast (included with our booking), bathroom configuration, the room is a bit small, but we were only there to sleep before we boarded a morning flight. I had booked a King Hilton Guestroom. Unfortunately that is not what we got. The bed and room was one of the tiniest ever - certainly not even queen - at best it was a small double bed. Hotellet ligger greit plassert i forhold til flyplassen. vi bestilte executive room fordi vi viste at vi kom til å tilbringe myetid på rommet og ønsket god komfor. det var en skuffelse. rommet var ikke større enn vanlige hotell rom ,badet var lite. Sengen var stor men noe hard. Det som skuffet aller mest var at vi ikke hadde tilgang på gratis internett […] ...og måtte kjøpe to seperate koder for at vi begge skulle kunne bruke nettet på rommet. Og kodene var svin dyre , kostet oss 54 euro ...og det er for mye !! Så dette hotellet kommer jeg aldri til å bruke igjen om det er aldri så fint. "Helt greit...men ikke Hilton standard"
Hotellet byr på god service, godt renhold. Hotellets interiør er imidlertid utdatert, både i fellesområder og ikke minst på rommene. Slitasjemerker på vegger og på badet er ikke det en forventer av et Hilton hotell. Frokostbuffeten er helt greit, men ikke noe utenom det vanlige. En får like god frokost på et Thon budget hotell. Dersom en bare skal […] overnatte ifm en tidlig flyreise neste dag så er dette et greit hotell, men bare med utgangspunkt i at jeg betalte halv pris. Ordinær pris ligger langt over det jeg ville vært villig til å betale for dette hotellet, med tanke på standard og vedlikehold. Det som trekker mest ned er at det ikke er trådløst internett på rommene, i tillegg til at internettbruk ikke er inkludert i prisen.
