"Amazing hotel, poor location"
The hotel was beautiful and perfect and fancy. The location was pretty poor. It was a 5-10 min walk to the tram station. the cab fare from the airport was about 35 euro. no restaurants, nightlife, groceries, convenient stores or bars nearby. "Good hotel in a bad location"
Overall, the hotel is very nicely designed and maintained. The only drawback of the modern design is that in some rooms the restroom offers little privacy, it has clear doors and windows. That does not make a whole lot of sense in a room with two twin beds! I was traveling with a friend, so we asked for a room whose restroom would offer more privacy. […] After a couple of attempts, we got a room that met our requirements. The surrounding area is a construction site at the moment, which means some sidewalks are closed, making the walk to the tram even longer. On average, it took us about 20-30 minutes to get to the center of the city, including the walk and the tram ride. The trams stop running at 12 AM, so this hotel is not convenient if you plan on arriving late. A cab ride from the city center costs about 20-30 euros. The staff at the reception could be friendlier. nice place to stay some what dated (Dark Wood). Cleaning excellent. Reception excellent until they lied and gave our pre booked cab to a Dutch businessman we could have been late for the airport return home flight. WE know what happened and the cab driver told us so. "Could do better, must try harder!"
This hotel is quite some way from the town centre but it is modern, clean and the rooms are very well maintained. If you are looking to really enjoy what Amsterdam has to offer I would recommend staying in a hotel a little closer to the city centre. The Skyye Bar was excellent and the bar staff were great fun on our first night mixing us new cocktails […] for us to try. Sadly the Skyye Bar was closed for a private party on the Saturday night which kind of ruins what is the greatest feature of this hotel when it is closed to residents with no real concern shown by the staff with regards to our disappointment. Overall I think there are probably better hotels in terms of location which offer the same levels of service and cleanliness so would suggest trying elsewhere before booking the Fashion Hotel Amsterdam. "Lovely hotel, expensive services, poor location"
Used this as a base for a long break to Amsterdam. The hotel itself and the staff were very good and as a business hotel (it is surrounded by office block) it would be fine. However, for a leisure break, it is let down by a couple of things. Firstly, the cost - meals, drinks and breakfast (€17 each) were expensive given it is not in the middle of Amsterdam. […] And that leads me on to the second (major) issue for this type of break. It is well served by the number 1 and 17 trams but.... they are a good 10 minute walk away through poor lighting, under bridges, and across road works. And then the tram journey takes approx 15 to 20 minutes, sometimes standing up. If you need to pop back to the hotel during the day, you can spend 90 mins travelling which may mean that a much more central location is a better alternative (even if the hotels aren't as nice). "Good points, bad points."
I don't have much experience staying in posh hotels so can't compare this one against others. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and of a good size. Bed was huge and very comfortable (on the soft side). Easy to get into the centre of Amsterdam. Niggling issues: the shower water leaked into the separate toilet room, […] flooding it. Our oom was right by the door to the corridor and everytime is shut our door rattled loudly which was very annoying. The air con was nigh on useless. "No value for the money / disappointment"
The hotel with a so called trendy decoration is managed by totally unexperienced people and thus, no right answers is given to simple question. Therefore any small issue can become a problem. The bathroom tubes were jammed (with water coming back by the shower and very bad smell), we've been told it was in the design of the system (dont take room 205) […] and nothing can be done except spraying a perfume and change our room as soon as they have availability. I wanted to park outside as the neighborhood seemed quite, it was more convenient and less expansive (hotel park = 25 EUR/day) but I've been told it cost 5EUR/hour in the street including during the night which was totally wrong (2,4 EUR/h only from 9am to 9pm). We've asked about the sauna availability as advised in their brochure : the receptionist replied "I don't know, go there and see if any availability" : it is a shared sauna 1 roof under ! she probably never seen it. The sheets were unchanged in 4 days, the small fridge made an awful noise at night and the maid replugged it everyday... Only one guy has been smiling and professional during breakfast, seemingly in his 40ies ans thus probably more skilled. All in all, this is not a good offer even at discounted rate. Regarding location, is is rather good, not too far from center (30 minutes walking through a very nice park) and very convenient to reach motorway and thus main point of interest around the city. Very disappointed about the staffs at the reception. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff at the reception didn't greet us and not even look at us at all. Whatever we asked her, she was impatient and didn't care to answer us at all. We were very disappointed!! Hotellet var veldig fint, det var et ekstra pluss med svømmebasseng og treningsstudio på hotellet, men prisene på spaet var latterlig høye i forhhold til behandlingne man fikk. Jeg har vært på spa mange ganger, og dette var definitivt den dårligste og korteste behandlingen jeg noensinne har fått. Det kunne gjerne vært større bad og kjøleskap på rommet. […] Ellers var det helt ok, og stort rom og stor seng. Det som trakk mest ned for min del, var at resepsjonistene var skikkelig kranglete. Hotellet låg en bit utanför stan. Räkna med 15 Euro i taxikostnad. Men man kan också promenera in till stan, vilket tar ungefär 40 minuter. Hotellet i sig var trevligt, rent och fräscht. Där fanns en trevlig liten spaavdelning. Liten men poolen var lagom stor för en simtur. Rummen var stora och fina. Dock så hade badrummet en glasdörr - mest passande […] för par som reser ihop. "Ikke hva vi forventet"
Et helt OK hotell hvis man bare skal sove der, men ikke så bra som det gikk for å være. Vi hadde bestilt to enkeltsenger - fikk en dobbeltseng med beskjed på å dytte sengene fra hverandre, noe som ikke gikk siden det fysisk var EN seng. Tven på rommet virket ikke første kvelden, og det tok ca 1t fra vi ringte ned til noen faktisk kom å så på den. Hotellet […] ligger like ved en politistasjon, og på grunn av opptøyer når vi var der var det sirener hele natten. Det lå forøvrig også en kondompakke under sengen vår når vi kom, som ikke noen hadde ryddet bort. Det er også greit å nevne at doen har glassdør, så man både kunne se og høre det den andre drev med der inne. Personalet var alltid noe stresset, og bestilling av mat ble det nesten alltid noe "krøll" med. 5 Nächte in letzter Maiwoche beruflich im WestCord Fashion Hotel verbracht. Hotel ist sehr modern, der Service an der Bar und morgens zum Frühtsück lässt jedoch mehr als zu wünschen übrig: unaufmerksam und noch dazu personell total unterbesetzt. positiv: - moderne Zimmer, vergleichbar mit Sofitels - Zimmer mit ca. 25qm deutlich geräumiger als die […] meisten Businesshotels negativ: - dreimal unten an der Hotelbar zu Abend gegessen; zweimal musste ich an die Bar laufen und der Bedienung quasi auf die Füße treten, um meine Bestellung aufgeben zu dürfen - beim Frühstück ist das Personal ebenso wie an der Bar unaufmerksam und zudem hoffnungslos unterbesetzt, mehrheitlich war kein Tisch verfügbar, obwohl niemand mehr daran saß, zehn Tische aber nicht abgeräumt wurden - im Bad im Zimmer hat Hausdame wiederholt alte Gläser und verbrauchte Shampooflaschen einfach liegen gelassen - an mehreren Stellen im Haus wird beworben, dass es kostenloses WLAN gibt; da dies jedoch über einen T-Online Hotspot bereitgestellt wird und das Hotel dafür Gebühr entrichten muss erhält man das Passwort nur auf explizite Nachfrage Insgesamt ein sehr modernes Businesshotel, aber die Servicequalität war in den fünf Tagen eine absolute Katastrophe. Bel hôtel 4 étoiles. Un peu déçue, vu ce standing, que les employés n'y parlent pas français (on doit avoir un niveau acceptable d'anglais pour communiquer avec la réceptionniste). La chambre était très belle, moderne, bien insonorisée. Bémols tout de même, une grosse tache marron sur le rideau, prise près du lit dénudée, et salle de bain manquant d'intimité […] (la porte qui y mène est transparente ainsi que la vitre qui sépare la douche des WC...) En face de l'hôtel, présence de travaux (en tous cas quand nous y sommes allés mon compagnon et moi le 20 mai 2011). Accès assez difficile en voiture. Il y a deux stations de tramway à proximité: la 1 (l'arrêt à proximité de l'hôtel est Derkinderenstraat) et la 2 (Deflanlaan). Garez-vous, de préférence au P+R au Westcord Fashion Center, les tarifs à la journée sont très avantageux et on vous donnera un billet de tram gratuit... "Amsterdamm"
Hotel liegt ein bischen außerhalb, ist aber sowohl vom Flughafen, als auch aus der Stadt mit der Tram bzw. dem Schnellzug gut zu erreichen. Die Zimmer sind schön und großzügig geschnitten, es gibt leider keinen Kühlschrank, sondern nur eine abgesperrte Minibar bei der mit Knopfdruck gewählt werden kann. Es ist somit nicht möglich mitgebrachte Getränke […] und Speisen zu kühlen. Das Zimmer wird durchschnittlich gereinigt, für ein 4 Sterne-Hotel ganz schön Staubig. Es sind auch Haare vom voherigen Gast in der Wanne gewesen. Das Frühstück ist mit 17 Euro sehr teuer, da es nur durchschnitt ist. Sauna kostet ebenfalls extra und ist nicht unbedingt so gemütlich da unten zwischen lauten Lüftergeräuschen und Pool. C'est notre 7ème séjour à Amsterdam en moins d'un an et notre 6ème hotel. L' Accueil moyen voir nul, la personne de l'accueil n'était pas du tout aimable et souriante, personne ne parlait français et elle ne faisait pas d'effort pour se faire comprendre. Le point positif est la déco et le confort des chambres ainsi que le restaurant qui offre une cuisine […] raffinée pour un rapport qualité-prix défiant toute concurrence, le chef ( un français) passe à toutes les tables pour savoir si ça c'est bien passé et offre en prime des chocolats. Dernier point, celui-ci négatif. Même s'il n'est pas très loin du centre(environ 15min en tram 1 ou 17) l'accès au tramway depuis l'hotel n'est pas facile et se trouve bien à 500m donc prévoir une valise à roulette. "Neuwertiges preisgünstiges Hotel in Amsterdam"
Das Hotel liegt an einer befahrenen Straße, unweit der Stadtautobahn. Schalldichte Fenster sorgen für entsprechende Ruhe. Je nach Lage der Zimmer schaut man auf die Straße (und vernimmt tagsüber ein leichtes Rauschen) oder in den innenliegenden Garten. Das Hotel ist Ende 2008 erbaut worden und entsprechend neuwertig. "nice rooms,indifferent staff and bad location."
The first thing we noticed when we arrived was that the distance to the hotel was longer than expected;both from the tram stop,and the city. by tram it took about 25 minutes from the train station. the area around the hotel was messy and boring.
