The classic Amsterdam image of stately canals, the Canal Loop is principally the Herengracht and Keizersgracht, lined with gracious tall 17th and 18th-century houses. Some of these are now museums, most notably the eccentric Kattenkabinet. The Amstel is a more down-to-earth waterway, lined with houseboats and famous for its classic much–photographed Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The floating Flower Market is also a much-loved canal feature.

Nothing made my stay at this Expedia booked hotel pleasant. The rooms are smaller than tiny. A room was not available until several hours after indicated check-in time. The only room remaining was a smelly smoking room with non-soundproof windows above the hotel front entrance where disturbing noises were during all night. "Until they rennovate, try something else."
The hotel is staffed by some very nice people, but the hotel is just too run-down. There is no airconditioning. The TV was old too -- probably from the mid-1980's. The room we had and everything in it was in shoddy condition. There are no dead-bolt locks on the room doors. There was no in-room safe and the windows, which you need to leave open seemed […] to be a security risk. We arrived at 1100pm for a 4 night stay. We stayed only that first night and we left the very next morning for another hotel. The staff was nice enough to assist us though and they should get credit for that. Its a shame really because all it needs is to be cleaned up and provide some "modern" comforts that most people on holiday look for and I am sure it will do well. "Not a good stay"
Despite the great location, this hotel actually dampened the time I spent in Amsterdam. The front desk staff that I dealt with (probably just a stroke of bad luck) seemed indifferent to customer satisfaction and actually a bit condescending. No WIFI (depending on who you ask, as one desk clerk said there was NO internet availability whatsoever, while […] another gave us vouchers that were only good for a half our in the lobby only). That is a huge downside for a hotel charging what they are. The rooms were dirty, wall paper was peeling, window sills noticeably damaged... The bathroom shower/tub leaked all over the bathroom, so every time the shower was used, the bathroom floor was flooded. At the end of the stay, the desk clerk didn't ask how the stay was; simply charged us the tourism tax, and seemed appalled that we requested our cab to the airport a bit earlier than anticipated. Once again... all of these things would be fine in a hostel, but this was a hugely expensive hotel... I would absolutely recommend staying elsewhere. "The only thing four star is the price"
When we checked in things looked good. The entrance is nice and the staff are friendly and welcoming. This however is the end of the good stuff. There is one elevator. Not so bad you might think however it takes ~30 seconds to move one floor. It says it should not be used by more than four persons however three with luggage would be a push. It is in […] constant use with people queuing and even hotel staff using it to move laundry etc. Even for someone with difficulties taking the stairs is easier. Our room was at the end of a poorly lit hallway with broken fixtures. Upon entering we discovered - A small room with décor dating back a few decades that had not been maintained A safe with the lock broken off Broken mini-bar A TV I recognise from the early 1990s Balcony covered in litter and cigarette butts Pillows with no cases What can only be described as a wonky bed - mind you they do say lying with your feet above your head is good for your heart, perhaps this was the purpose.. During the course of our stay we also found that the walls may as well be made of paper. Being able to hear every word of a conversation next door is not acceptable. Amsterdam is Amsterdam and people will be up late, combine these two facts and it's really not much fun. I had the misfortune of falling ill while staying here, not anything to do with this hotel however having to ride out food poisoning in such a dark and dank little room is an experience I wish to forget. "Små senger med hasjlukt hengende i vegger."
Ikke fornøyd med hotellet. Hotellrommene vi fikk var innrøykte med hasj og hadde en søtlig eim. Tror ikke de var luftet etter siste gjest men dette er vel lukten av Amsterdam. Vegg til veggteppe som hadde sett sine glansdager. Badet var bra og rent. Vi bestilte 3 dobbeltrom med separate senger. Vi fikk dobbeltsenger som var ca 150 cm. Ikke så morsomt […] når vi var mannfolk og måtte dele dyne... Vi er fornøyd med beliggenheten til hotellet og det var plenty med restauranter og pub-muligheter like utenfor. "NH hotel Dolenstraat"
Þetta hótel þarfnast algjörrar endurbóta. Fengum vægast sagt lélegt herbergi, svo lítið að varla var hægt að komast fyrir þar. Verðlagning á þessu hóteli er kílómetrum fyrir ofan raunverulegt verð. "NON E?' UN 4 STELLE"
Hotel con una eccezzionale posizione a pochi minuti da piazza Dam ma per il resto veramente non all' altezza di un 4 stelle. Spazi nella camera minimali con arredamento vecchio e mal ridotto. La carta da parati strappata qua e la.La porta della camera aveva dei segni che ricordavano un tentativo di scasso con un piede di porco.bagno veramente piccolo […] con la ventola per l' areazione che abbiamo fatto fatica a capire se funzionasse o meno. La TV era quella che trovi a casa dei nonni con il tubo catodico e la sua forma gobbata. L' impianto di condizionamento del quale per fortuna non abbiamo avuto bisogno era rappresentato da un ventilatore posto sulla struttura gobbata di cui vi parlavo prima. La finestra si apriva e si chiudeva solo attraverso manovre complicatissime.
