This was the only hotel in Sandakan with a swimming pool, so it was the obvious choice! The hotel is quite luxurious, but feels very tired.... it has... an 80's hotel vibe to it (radio buttons on the bed-side table mantle). There are 2 restaurants, one with a daily buffet, that are pretty good, a large swimming pool with 2 water slides, and a travel agency that will help you book tours/day trips but is also honest if you can do it cheaper/more easily yourself. The air within the room was damp, stale and musty. At first we thought it was coming from the carpet.We informed the front desk who asked a housekeeping staff to check out.She came with a refreshner spray and told us they just 'cuci' (washed) the carpet. She suggested we open the windows which we did while we went down to have dinner.
