"Worth its discount rate"
A good hotel, provided you book at a discount rate. It's close to a monorail station and a string of cheap malls, and there is a great little Indian restaurant at the end of the street. The hallway smelled of smoke, and the dim "non-smoking" room had an odor of stale cleaning products that you eventually get used to. Had to call for towels. The beds […] are clean and comfortable, and the room came with a blow dryer, an iron and ironing board (a big plus in my book). The free wifi (good signal) was unneccessarily complicated by login screens and passwords. The breakfast had three egg options and an unappealing, limited buffet. No hot water for our entire stay, hotel only acknowledged problem after two days. Everything inside the room is old, either peeling paint or stains on everything. Certainly not a 3 star property. Toilet stopped flushing the first night we arrived. Called maintenance and they came and fixed it right away. Unfortunately it broke again two days later. "Good and bad"
I will start with the good. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are nice. I also found the location to be very good as it is right near the monorail and so very easy, fast, and cheap to get anywhere. The bad are first of all the smoking but you will find that everywhere in Malaysia almost still allows smoking inside. This is disgusting but cannot […] avoid in Malaysia. I hope Malaysia gets with the rest of the world and stops this soon. Second complaint and worst for me was the horrible Internet connection. If you need to use the Internet (and I would think in 2011 most people do need the Internet) then avoid this hotel for sure. The Internet connection is the worst I have ever seen. Rarely can you stay connected for more than a few minutes and even then it is so slow it is impossible to use. If the Internet were better I could still recommend this hotel but as it is the horrible Internet connection really made my stay uncomfortable and as such I could not recommend someone stay here. I would also like to see the staff a bit friendlier but really I found service workers generally unfriendly to me everywhere in kuala lumper and the hotel staff although not up to western service standards surely were better than the service I received anywhere else in kuala lumpur. The lobby is pleasant enough, reception very efficient. "steer clear, no matter what"
The hotel is not hard to get to from the nearby MRT station for budget-conscious travelers and if you get one of the higher floors on the east side of the building you might get a nice view through the filthy dirty windows. That's where the positive things stop. The air conditioning is somewhere in the ceiling and makes a low pitched and almost as loud […] noise as you hear inside an airplane. The low pitch means you can't hide from it under your arm or a pillow and have to bring really good earplugs or noise-canceling headphones. And the noise wasn't just the top floor I was on, I went down two floors and could hear the same noise in the hallways coming from the ceiling. I could not get any sleep, and even though my reservation was for three days I left the next morning because, surprisingly, they didn't have any other rooms available. The girl at the checkout was surprised I was leaving before I was supposed to, but did not offer a refund. I travel all over the world and have stayed at all kinds of different accommodations, from shared dorms and budget bungalows to 5 star hotels. This was by far the worst room I've ever had to endure. We were allotted a room in a smoking floor even though we have opted for a non-smoking room. We were not even informed about it by the Hotel staff during check-in. Overall it was a pleasant stay except when we requested for an extension to the check out time from 12nn to 4pm with an additional charge of MYR50.00. We informed the front office of our intentions and was confirmed by her without hassle. The next day when we came back from shopping around 12.30pm, i found out that i could not open the main door so […] came down and inquired the front office again and it seems that they did not get the message from the night before. I was told again of the extra charges and was told that they have computed my request into their system and i can proceed back up to my room only to find out that i still could'nt open the main door. I had to go down again for the second time and it seems that they are clueless....until one of the staff took my room access card and programmed something in it. ( I wave it at him for him to understand that maybe they forgot to do something with the card). Anyway all turns out well after that. The reason I wrote this is so that the hotel would make improvements to the way they operate and all staffs should be aware of everything tha is going on and pass on to the later shift. Hi , My family and I stayed at this place last week, we had a Delux superior room, do not go by the photos, the rooms are not as large as shown ( atleast ours on level 3 was not). This is a good budget hotel and good value for money. Location wise, it is centrally located with the Mono rail station just 200 meters away. The staff are helpful and friendly, however do not depend on them for directions and idea of taxi fares , they have no clue. Don'y judge the book by it cover cos in this case the cover was superb, book not so great. Picture shown on Expedia must be over 10 years old. The hotel is very old and tired. Needs a makeover today. We had the room with double Queen bed. It was quite spacious and shower is quite big too. There is no bath tub. The downside of the room is carpet is quite worn and not enough lightings in the room. There is only one lamp on the make up desk as the main light and then the bedside lamps. It's quite dim at night. But it's got a good view with KL Tower. […] Location wise, it's a little far from the LRT which is quite crucial or us. It's only close to monorail. Breakfast is a big plus. Sitting is quite nice. It's got indoor and outdoor areas.
