Loved the buffet breakfast: excellent food, nice outdoor ambiance and beautiful views. The room service was was great as well as the rest of the staff: very friendly and accomodating. An opportunity for improvement would be to have the pool side bar open daily in the evenings.

My kids and I stayed here for four nights. I felt safe and comfortable. Lovely staff, and nice clientele. Breakfast buffet at tables by the poolside saved us time and money each day. The bathroom was more artistic than functional, and the marble tiled floor could get slippery. Firm beds and plenty of complimentary bottled water. It cost 70 pesos for a cab ride to town/beach/ADO station. 155 pesos cab ride to Xcaret. There is a convenience store just a short walk down the road, which was particularly handy when my son got travelers stomach . I was able to walk to the shop, buy pepto bismol tablets, yogurt, jello, etc and be back again in 15 minutes. I definitely recommend staying here. Read more

Our room was very dated, and the bathroom is like a dark cave. But I have seen other rooms are very nice. I only stay for 3 nights, and it was my 2nd night I found other room are nicer, so I didn't bother to change the room. Staff are friendly. Nice location if you enjoy walking.

Our suite was superb -- 5 balconies, huge space, excellent value -- extraordinarily good value! Beautiful decor and architecture, delicious, varied breakfasts. But: impossible to locate! We drove around and around -- street signs had arrows, but there was NO SIGN indicating the entrance! So we get there and the mattress is a king but its sitting on a full size box, we slid off the sides, not pillow top either. We got switched to a new room two nights later finally, […] and the bed was king but again was not pillow top, even harder than before, and this time we had no mini bar. We went to to the front desk and they said they could nothing that night, and they didnt do anything for the rest of our stay. The rooms are huge. Breakfast is very good. Pool offers plenty of shade. Very safe. Must pass through two guarded gates in order to reach the hotel. No restaurant or bar after 3:00 pm. About a 20 minute walk to downtown Playa. About a 1/2 hour walk to the beach.

A hidden gem. This hotel seems to draw primarily business folks. It is a bit off the beaten path, which makes it wonderful. Peaceful, quiet and in a beautiful setting. Your clients need to know that less than 1/4 mile away is a small shopping area with three restaurants, a laundry, and a convenience store (24/7). Surely no one needs to pay US$6+ to […] travel that distance. The beach is about one mile away, easily accessible on foot in about 1/2 hour's walk. I had visited Vista Real many years ago when it was still part of the vacation ownership (timeshares) and it was a beautiful place. About three years ago it was sold. The Vista Real in Playa del Carmen was a delightful peace of old Mexico with modern conveniences. Way more than you would expect for the price. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The Hacienda Vista Real is an excellent value if you're willing to stay at a hotel that's not on the beach. The Ambassador Suite that I stayed in was huge and quite comfortable. The pool is nice and you couldn't ask for a quieter location. Great find! It has just about everything one would need for relaxing and getting away from the daily noise and grind. It's the perfect distance from 5th Street and all the usual Playa stuff one wants to see and take in at certain times during a vacation there, but still away enough not to be bothered by noise and traffic. If I had anything at all to say was questionable for this place, it would be the amount of help they employ for maintenance. I asked to replace a lawn-chair off my patio and it took almost all day because there just weren't enough people to get to it promptly. But that's minuscule compared to the rest I've mentioned above. Plus, there is a corner about 5 minutes walk that has a convenient store and 4 restaurants... and one of them, called "Bistro Playacar" was phenomenal. The Vista Real is a nod to a glamorous Mexico of old. It has loads of local character around every corner. What gorgeous grounds! It's location in a gated golf resort community means a very safe and quiet atmosphere. It's a quick ride or a quiet 25-minute stroll to downtown Playa and it's famous 5th Ave. We chose it as a base for day trips to snorkeling […] beaches and hence, did not care that it was not an all-inclusive on the beach resort. The included breakfast buffet by the pool each morning was outstanding! It catered to Latin/European tastes and there was something for everyone. We got the Ambassador Suite and it was a lot of room for two people with a full kitchen. We did not use the resort restaurant. There are a few good restaurants and a convenience store nearby, but otherwise you will need to venture out to the city. We got a wonderful deal online and for the price we think it was an outstanding value. If we go to Playa del Carmen again, we will definitely return. Read more

The hotel was an unexpected find - clean, inexpensive and quiet. Breakfast was included and the buffet was varied and tasty. It isn't located near the beach so don't expect to stumble out onto the sands of Playa del Carmen and it was tricky to negotiate the retorno's and streets of Playacar at night the first time. It has a nice swimming pool overlooking the golf course and it's about a 15-20 minute walk into Playa del Carmen itself. We chose to upgrade from their standard room ( nice room , but the upgrade to the suite was reasonable and gave us TONS of space ) .... we had a kitchen , living room , dining room , and a patio ..... absolutely gorgous and we could have lived there forever it was so amazing . The staff at the resort were fantastic and willing to accomodate any request […] we made . They happily provided us with patio furniture , a coffee pot , purified water for drinking , and reccomendations on places to see , activities to try , etc. The breakfast buffet that was included with our reservation was awesome ..... always had fresh fruit , juices , cereals , pastries , yougurts , coffee and at least 5-6 hot food items as well as the option to have "cooked to order eggs , including omelettes " . The pool area , where the buffet was set up is wonderful as well ... there is a pond overlooking the golf course just behind the resort and the birds , ducks , turtles are used to having people around and will be close enough to watch while you eat . ( some folks actually fed the ducks and turtles as well ) . If If you choose to not want to go far for supper or late night snacks , there is a small convienence store with a couple restaurants a few blocks away at the enterance to the gated community .... we at at the Bistro and had Mexican Empanada's ..... both were very good . In summary , I would reccomend this resort to anyone that is wanting beauty , relaxing , and charm ! Read more

Hotel Hacienda Vista Real & Spa, is the best place to relax and have great vacations. Great location and walking distance to Town and Beach. If you like to walk, this is the right place, you can also get around in Taxi, or rent a Bike. I am planing going back soon with friends and family.
