Snorkeling and diving are popular in the small resort town of Akumal, and at Kantenah beach to the north, where the coastline runs parallel to a protected coral reef. In the summer months, sea turtles crawl onto the white-sand beaches by moonlight to lay their eggs. Yal-Ku Lagoon, once a trading route for the ancient Maya, is a bird watcher’s paradise, and can be explored by foot or kayak.

The customer service was horrible - we were supposed to have drinks in our fridge (who did not work by the way) and never got them, even after calling the service desk every time their answer was in 30 minutes; and we never got anything delivered; food was ok, not great; rooms were horrible and needed desperately update - our shower was leaking and […] never got fixed after 3 times we call and got the same answer - in 30 minutes; we did not have pressure in the bathroom sink the first 2 days, but luckily after i filed a complaint with the concierge it did get fixed; i can write a lot more , but please take my advice and go to other resorts - it is worth spending the extra couple hundred bucks :) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"worst experience ever, would never go back"
the first room that we were given, had a broken lock on the back door and the air did not work. The second room had no working air either. The third room was not much better and we decided to give up and stay in that one. However, the water shut off in the middle of a shower and the water was out in the whole complex for several hours. Then the electricity […] went out and was in and out all day. The room was never cleaned until after 6pm. On to the food and drink, You could not order drinks or soda until after 10 am and half of the restaurants were always closed. In order to get into one, you had to go at 630pm when it opened and either be one of the first in line or eat at the second seating, if available, at 830. BTW, the food was horrible. The beach was good but there was no wait staff to get drinks and you had to walk all the way down the beach to the only bar outside. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Worst of the Worst - change your trip"
This hotel was the worst experience we have ever had. From the moment we arrived we knew this was going to be a bad trip. Long check in lines, very slow at the receptionist. We arrived on day 1 and left to go to another hotel on day 1. The room we we were given was the "upgraded" ocean view and it smelled like mold, it was filthy and the balcony look […] unsafe to stand on. We heard other complaints at the front desk similar to ours and the response from the staff was "if you dont like it, you can always leave and go back home". We were amazed they would treat the customers like that. The hotel has a 3.5 star rating... LOL.. we give it a 2 star at best. If your looking for a cheap trip and dont mind living in the filth and eating food that is kept warm by the sun while being covered by flies then this is the place for you. The pictures online are deceiving as that is not what you will see. Book elsewhere... we even met a staff member who had told us as we were leaving that we made a good choice as he has worked in the hotel business for years and moves around so he has seen a lot of the resort. He told us that the Be Live Grand Riviera Maya is by far the worst one he has ever worked at and his last day was in a few days and he was so excited to be moving. We ended up checking into another hotel and had a great time in Cancun Mexico. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Stay here only if you can get a trip for free"
This place is horrible. The beach is beautiful, but this hotel has serious management issues. If all you want is a nice beach and good weather and you get a very good deal on this place, you might not be terribly disappointed with Be Live. But expect terrible service, long check-in line (we spent 6 hours checking in and met other guests with worse stories), […] food that is of a quality similar to frozen meals, and very weak drinks. The food and drinks were most disappointing to us and we ended up eating outside of the resort quite a bit. The room had no running water several times a day and we a toliet that overflowed twice. I regret not spending a little bit more for a nicer hotel and would not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"This hotel is a total disappointment."
- The hotel room was run down. I think the building is at least 50 years old (at least the one we stayed at). We upgraded the room to oceanview but it was nothing spectacular. There was a foul smell in the room upon check-in and all the appliances in the room were old and broken. The telephone in my dad's room was broken and there was no remote TV control. […] We had stayed at Oasis Viva Beach in Cancun before and it was at least 10 times better than this Oasis or now they call is Be Live in Maya Riveira. If you can spend a few hundred dollars more, defintely stay at other ones and please do not stay at this hotel. The goods : Food was ok and they have free kayaks. "Fuyez"
Catastrophique. Lamentable.Genuine Expedia guest review
