What a great experience! The all-inclusive, was all inclusive, no signature required. Staff was fantastic! Checked us in early and on check out let us still use the all-inclusive till we left for the airport. Pools were great. Entertainment was fantastic, Live music in the evenings and many extras, Check out the Cinema show and buffet for diner, it […] was unbelievable and enjoyable, the only trick was to not eat to much! Felt safe all the time, and walked into and out of the nearby town in the late evening with no problem. Only problem was internet was not working and would reset every 5 minutes and I had to make a connection for work so had to walk to Starbucks, a 10 minute walk, but the exercise was good to do. There were 4 couples that went on this vacation. The hotel staff are wonderful. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left they couldn't have been more helpful and were extremely friendly. The rooms were great and the housekeeping was superb! The rooms only had showers but that was fine. We always had plenty of hot water and the water pressure […] was excellent. The beds were a little hard for me but not enough to keep me awake! The only complaint I would have is that the food is all the same every day. There was lots of it available there just wasn't much variety. Our guest representative was Armando Flores. He was top notch and hooked us up with everything we needed and more. He took a personal interest in making sure that all of us had a great time. The pools were awesome. We found chairs by the pool every day we were there which was 9 days. The time share people were around but did not bother us. The vendors were kept on the beach and did not bother you unless you went into their territory. The grounds of the hotel are fairly nice and well maintained. However, if you are not a member of the vacation club and are staying in rooms on the west side of the hotel, they are poorly out of date with super uncomfortable beds and pillows. The best meal we had on vacations was when we went into Cabo San Lucas and paid for great margaritas and lunch. The beverages all tasted the same down at the pool bar, like fruit punch concentrate. The food was mostly flavorless, luckily there was fresh fruit at every meal to sustain us and an omlette bar at breakfast... Lastly, we were roped into a "breakfast to learn about there vacation club, it was not supposed to be a time share sale" 2.5 hours later, we finally got out of there after a million no thank yous, we are not interested in buying right now. I was sad to have booked this trip with 4 friends who had never done all inclusive before and now they have a sour taste for it and will most likely never do it again. Beautiful location and wonderful staff made this a truly relaxing vacation. The only negative I can think of is the bed in our room.....it would have been more comfortable sleeping on the lounge chair by the pool....the bed was so hard I actually ended up getting out of the bed every 20 to 30 minutes to get some sort of relief. My husband and I arrived on Jan 3. As soon as we arrived we were attacked for a timeshare tour. We repeatedly said no and finally after I got nasty he got the idea. Room was fine- you get what you paid for. Old hotel. Needs a revamp. My biggest complaint was the food! Breakfast was ok- not great. Lunch and dinner were awful. McDonalds is 5 star compared […] to this. Hard to get waiters to get you anything. If they come over once forget about seeing one again. Disorganized dinner setup. It was like stampede of cattle to go to dinner as there is only one restaurant available for the non reservation crew. All the while 2 other restaurants stand empty and closed! We ate in town often to not starve to death. Pool was freezing- by 4:00 most of the pool area has no sun. Entertainment staff completely BORING! Wifi is a joke. The "free" lobby wifi was impossible to get!!! I spent everyday trying to get service to check emails but to no avail!! Overall would not go back to any Solaris resort. Great hotel for its price. Beach is right in front of the hotel, room is clean overall, staff were friendly. Kids pool was okay, but it was behind the hotel building away from the main pool, so we ended up playing at the main pool instead. Main pool also had small kiddie pool where kids can play. We have gone to different locations in Mexico for the past 3 years. It really depends what you are looking to get out of the hotel/all-inclusive experience to decide whether you want to stay here or not. +Beautiful Beach + Great waves/water to swim in (don't believe if anyone tells you otherwise. I wouldn't send a 6 year old out there in the waves […] by themself, but definitely not dangerous for an adult). + Big resort, very clean, amazing staff, great pools + Adult Pool area - beds are hard as a rock. - food is not very great. While I do recognize this is not a 5 star all inclusive resort and I am getting what I pay for, 2 out of the 3 restaurants had food that was almost classified as un-edible and the buffet definitely left a lot more to desire. The snack bar food was the best food there, which is sad that we lived off of chips and guac, chicken nuggets and pizza for most of the trip. - Activities ("whoop whoop") +/- liquor and beer were all bottom of the bottom shelf quality, but you get what you pay for so, eh. overall, it was not a terrible experience, San Jose has a nice downtown and is only about a 20 minute walk away. I would just definitely not come here again because food when I pay for an all inclusive package, and receive below the quality of what my already low expectations were. The staff at the Royal Solaris could not have been more friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Although an older hotel, the staff works on stop to keep it inpristine condition. None of the rooms had bathtubs wich I hear is standard in Mexico but it would have been nice to get a headsup. However there was a continual odor of sewer in the bathroom and we asked to have it checked twice and the solution seemed to be a sweet sickening citornella spray. The breakfast and lunch buffets were extensive.Dinner options were again a buffet or two sitdown restaurants. The Italian one was the best. The spa treatments were gentle rather than intense. Clean, safe, fun! Everthing a family vacation should be.... Spent a week at Royal Solaris 12-29-12 to 1-5-13. The wait staff was extraordinary, front desk staff was professional but did not volunteer anything extra. Food was hit or miss. Buffets most meals varied from good to poor in quality and variety. Food was bad in the highly touted Marco Polo restaurant--chewy lobster and a gristle and fat steak.The grounds are well kept and the building is kept spotless. Rooms are fine, average, but well cleaned. Towel animals on the bed each day excited the kids. Pool is large and clean with with a cool sand like bottom. Kids Club was great for 4-7 year olds. My 5yo loved it; my 7.5yo felt she was too old for it. (She just wanted to swim all day everyday). Beach and palapas are beautiful. Undertow is bad and they do not want you swimming there. Seawater is warm! Nightly shows were enjoyable. Problem: the front desk directs you to the "concierge staff" after check-in and tell you they will be your as your "personal assistant and explain everything to you about the resort." THE VERY WORST THING ABOUT THE ROYAL SOLARIS IS THE "CONCIERGE STAFF." THEY ARE TIMESHARE SALESPEOPLE AND ALL THEY WANT IS TO SELL YOU A TIMESHARE. WHEN I SAID I WAS TIRED FROM TRAVELING, THE "CONCIERGE" SAID, "I AM TIRED TOO--I HAVE BEEN HERE ALL DAY!" IN A NASTY TONE. A VERY POOR WELCOME. COULD BE IMPROVED 1. Food choices: limited choices during lunch repeated every day. After 3 days you don't feel like eating there anymore. Dinner was ok though given restaurants - Italian and Mexican - as well as theater dinners with varied menus 2. Flexibility: Staff at time was not as accommodating, for example while we were still eating at the restaurants and wanted to order more, we were told that the kitchen is closed. Similarly, the bar closed at ~12 rather than 1:30 AM as promised.. small things but they matter when you really want to eat or drink!! 3. Loved Royal Solaris - my only complaint is how hard the bed & pillow are! I had to put a towel around the pillow for some comfort. The staff is amazing, the drinks were absolutely the best I've had at an all inclusive! Although I do not have kids, they had an amazing kids pool section with a slide-looked fun. We listened to the timeshare thing to get the free tickets to the 2 shows, but it was super pushy & I wouldn't do it again. People sell stuff on the beach so that was nice if you don't want to go out, the guards will keep them away if you aren't interested. I have stayed at now 4 all inclusives in Mexico & this is one of my favorite. Great scenery with the mountains, close enough to trip to Cabo San Lucas to see the whales, everyone is very nice. Everything was clean, inside and out. The grounds were beautifully manicured. The help smiled and spoke when you passed them. The wait staff, especially at the specialty restaurant 'Marco Polo' was superb, especially David. The beach was clean and they kept the vendors on their side of the rope so not to disturb people wanting privacy. One thing I feel […] like I need to address...... I am a 'bed snob' and our bed was hard!! We had an adjoining room and our friends said the same thing about the bed and pillows. We heard the same comments from others the 9 days we were there. This resort is also a timeshare property. Most people don't have the large amount of money to drop to buy in,so know going in....don't waste your time and theirs by going thru their presentation...you'll have a better experience.....that is, unless you want a timeshare. We were impressed with everything that was part of the Royal Solaris Los Cabos, except for one timeshare person. The food was always delicious and plentiful. We were able to order any drink. The soda, beer, and water in our in-room refrigerator was also included, and it was refilled each day. The entertainment in the Tehuacan Dinner Theater was always […] professionally presented by a staff of enthusiastic, energetic, and talented dancers. We had one dinner in the Marco Polo reservation restaurant that was outstanding. You need to call for reservations starting at 9:00 a.m., and stay on the line until someone answers the phone. You can walk for miles along the beautiful beach, but don't try to swim, due to the strong under-tow. Sometimes there are horse droppings along the beach, so beware. Both downtown San Jose del Cabo and the Estuary are within walking distance of the Royal Solaris. The Tiki Dinner Party on the beach was nothing special, and it was difficult to see our food on our plates after dark. Most of the staff members were very friendly and helpful, never expecting a tip. We had reluctantly agreed to go to the timeshare presentation, saying upfront we had no intention of buying. The final timeshare person, actually scolded us for agreeing to the timeshare presentation, since we had not planned to buy. Other than that one timeshare person, everything else was great. The parties during the week had a lot of food choices as well as the buffet. Tried both restaurants and they were good. I do wish they had more Mexican food. I was dying for some local fare, especially a fish taco. Chose to eat off property a few times to get tacos and empanadas. Entertainment staff were a lot of fun and the shows were entertaining. There was a band in the lobby a few nights and the female singer was great! The biggest drawback was the limited choices for food and activity after 7pm. We got back from a tour later than we thought and had not made a reservation at one of the restaurants so the buffet was our only option. Pool, jacuzzi, spa, and exercise room all close at 7 as well. But they also had two nicer dinner options, "pancho" their Mexican fine dining and "marco polo" their Italian fine dining. Here they had a small menu with much more care put into preparing the food and had attentive servers always trying to please. Very little extra money spent if you stay at the resort but it seemed like most people did tip the serving staff although Expedia says it isn't required, it is suggested. Lots of positives with some of the staff worth a mention for going the extra mile - Lucie the omelette maker among others. On occasion kids got on my nerves, but an adult pool is available for a quiet swim. Very good dancers in the entertainment group.

Towels were green to mask stain showing up on towel. -there was a storm and room flooded and outside patio sheet rock broke off onto patio. Hotel was very beautiful. Staff very welcoming. That being said, we were approached twice during check-in by a staff member telling us she would be our personnel concierge. She took us to a desk where she again pretended to be a concierge, gave us a map, told us where to eat, then the high pressure sales for the resort's "club" began. We were only going to be there a few days and certainly didn't want to waste a moment, especially when we were not interested in buying or joining anything. I had been so excited about the trip and that instantly put a huge damper on it. Next problem was the inability to go to the beach. There was an area adjacent to the resort that was roped off for resort guests. Beyond that were the local "sharks" standing as if on guard, ready to try to sell hats, sunglasses, and jewelry. So very disappointing. Signs said the oceanfront area belonged to the Mexican Federal gov't. Nothing was said in resort literature about not being able to actually go to the beach. Drinks were very watered down. Food ok. Sort of like being on a bad cruise but not out in the middle of the ocean. Beds were like sleeping on planks. Overall my stay at this hotel was good. The only thing I was dissappointed was getting our drinks or beverages very late. I guess it was because it was during the weekend where there is bigger crowd to serve. Monday and Tuesday the drinks were taken faster to our table.

I'm extremely pleased with people work in this hotel. Everyone is smiling and cafe solaris restaurant servers as well as the manager is great! Food is good. Fresh fruits and veggies. Activities are ok but overall experience was great!
