The food was good.. however I upgraded to the black band, so that I can have more dining options and it was a good move since the outside restaurants are a bit expensive. The food choices were kind of limitted, however if your only there for a week it should be ok! A good thing about the Restaurantes were that reservations were not required. It's true, the food isn't the greatest, but it's good enough to get by when you're consuming large amounts of alcohol. We met other groups that booked VIP and they said it wasn't worth it. The pool for the VIP section was "boring" since it's secluded from the rest of the hotel. It's gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but no one hangs out there b/c they're […] over where the action is: the pool & beach. However, the VIP rooms are a lot nicer w/better amenities and the other restaurants (namely the Italian resto) were better than the standard all-access guest options. This is a great hotel w/plenty of activities for groups of friends traveling together. I don't recommend it for couples if you're looking for "quiet/romance". The music is on all day long, there are loads of games (booty shaking, dry humping, etc) hosted by the entertainment staff. If you're looking for an adult version of "spring break" this is the hotel for you. My complaints: -- the lack of amenities that all other all-inclusive hotels have offered in the past 1) you have to buy bottled water either through room service or the front desk as the bars and restos do not sell them or offer them 2) the fridge in the room is not stocked with juices, sodas, waters 3) the bars close at 1am 4) lack of options for dinner (either buffet or Mexican (where service was supremely slow)) 5) the lack of service on the beach - you have to get up constantly to get a drink. Nice hotel, only disappointing thing was; when we booked we were given a 300.00 resort credit, what your not told is the credits are broken up to different things and it's in pesos. My purchase and reservation was for a room with a king size, however on arrival they had no such rooms available. The front desk manager I argued that this was not what I had sold, was only a request and the hotel is not required to comply with these requirements. Very bad.

Good hotel. I did not like the fact that they show several restaurants and give you a rate and then when you arrive they tell you that you need to pay extra to go into other restaurants. You can survive with the "standar" restaurants. Food is OK... The wine is terrible... But the beer and alcoholic drinks are quite good...

It was a nice stay. However the beach was very small and crowded. The entertainment was fun, they had something very nice. If you don't upgrade to grand, you basically only have a buffet to eat from and a very small mexican style restaurant. It's not a family stay but it's nice for couples and singles.

The hotel has very friendly staff, good location. The beach was just out of the loby that was great. The food had no much of varaity but was ok. Bus stop just out of the hotel if you want to go downtown. All the rooms facing the ocean so its nice - ocean view and sunset at the beach.

If you are easy going and you want a lot of bang for your buck I think you will be very happy with this hotel. If you are uptight and demand 5 star ratings then you might be a little grumpy. I was very happy with the staff and the food and drinks all day. The only downsides were: 1) No swimming in the pool after 8pm. Did not know this going in. 2) […] The extra throw pillows on the bed were smelly. I just threw them on the floor each day but the maid kept putting them back on. No big deal right? The main pillows and everything else was clean. 3) The hot water stopped working the 3rd day. After an hour of the maintance man running the faucets it came back. 4) There was no water bottle service to the room- unless I wanted to pay $30 extra. Crazy so I had to buy water at the store. $2 a bottle for a 20 oz. Ok so that worked out. Besides these little things I had a great time. The weather was great. the food was from 6:30 am til 10:30 pm and it was great with all the variety you want. and the price was the best part! I guess we could just paid a little extra to get a better room or suite and maybe I would have nothing to complain about, oh yeah except that pool thing. Read more

The Oasis Viva is a great "all inclusive" family hotel. The restaurant food is generally good, the facilities are in very good condition as it seems to have been recently remodeled. However, many of the rooms are still not remodeled and it tells. That said, despite the fact that we stayed in one of the older rooms it was still very decent. If you are […] expecting a 4-5 star room experience then you may be dissapointed but given that we spent almost no time in the room we didn't care. The beach is gorgeous and just a few steps from the main building unlike other hotels where you have to trek it to the beach. My only complaint was that the service, particularly in the menu restaurants, was sub par in that the staff was clearly not well trained and that the food took a long time to be prepared. Not so, however, in the buffet restaurants where the food was good and the minimal service expected was good enough. A final note: there are several Oasis branded properties around Cancun and even one in Tulum. If you have book your travel in the "Grand" category for your stay you can then use ANY of the Oasis property facilities during your stay. This was awesome because we were there for a week and had a chance to spend the day at several other hotels and partake of the all-inclusive benefits of each. Read more

I stayed at this hotel from 07/11 to 07/14. From what I saw/heard, the hotel was formerly Be Live and had just reopened the week that I stayed. My favorite were the seafood restaurant and the Brazilian restaurant. For breakfast, the Mexican restaurant had a huge selection to choose from. They also have an ice cream cart outside with delicious ice cream. The beach was a bit rocky and shallow, but overall nice. There were few waves and some parts were deeper than others, but no higher than above the waist. I would say this beach is perfect for kids and people who don't know how to swim. There were always chairs available. The swim up bar is located in the shallow pool, which was always filled with kids. They have a second pool that is deeper across from the bar. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the party center of Cancun. There are also plenty of stores and restaurants nearby. In the night, there are plenty of people who walk from the hotels to the area with the clubs and restaurants so it felt safe to walk there. Read more
