The hotel was very clean, beds comfortable, and staff friendly. Breakfast was good, loved the Mexican pastries. Location could not be beat, a quick 2 block walk to the bustling Zocalo. Visit was fine. Only complaint was an ambiguous answer the desk clerk gave when I asked whether the water was potable (always a question in Mexico) : "We have a water filtering system in the hotel but we recommend using bottled water." There was one small bottle of water in the room and if you wanted more you had to buy it.

The single rooms are dark and very small. The double rooms are much larger and well worth the extra 20 dollars a night. Despite the many positive attributes of the hotel (location, friendliness of staff, cleanliness, breakfast), I can award only an OK rating because of the uncomfortable mattresses. They are very soft and they slip off the box springs […] when you turn over. The love seat in the sitting room had seen better days and was also very uncomfortable. Everything exceeded our expectations. The rooms were large and comfortable. Breakfast provided in the morning was a plus we did not expect, and it was delicious and hearty. Staff were also friendly and helpful. The Wifi in the hotel was problematic, but that was not a large problem for us.

Architecturally magnificent inside (and exterior also) and great location in the heart of the Historical Centre. The staff were always accommodating and courteous. Good value. The only negative was there were no outside windows and although the whole building was air-conditioned it was stuffy at times.

I loved the stained glass ceiling, and the property is convenient to the main square, but the service sets them above and beyond others. We arrived late on Christmas Eve and left late the next day. They stored our bags for us and also booked a terrific private tour of the pyramids for us. They even exchanged a small amount of money for us, as nothing […] was open. The room is small, but quiet and clean, with a comfortable bed. Just two blocks from the main square, so it was easy to go and enjoy the sights and walk around. They knew what would be open and closed. Good security presence. Last but not least, the manager even gave us a few pesos to pay our cab - embarrassing to accept, but much appreciated, as we had no way to exchange more money on Christmas Day. When I booked the room, it was not made clear that the room had no window to the outside. Upon arrival I realized there was only an inoperable window to the hall. That meant the room had no natural light or air! The room would have been great if it did not feel like a hermetically sealed box. Hotel is located right in the Centro Historico (Downtown) and close to a lot of tourist areas. Hotel is 2 streets from the Zocalo, Palacio Nacional (National Palace), templo mayor. There are other tourists areas like 10-15 min. walk from the Hotel. Restaurant's are also at a walking distance. Subway is also nearby, as well as the city tour bus. First of all the hotel's location is what really makes me give it a better review, it is the best location you can hope for!! Other than that, the service was pretty disappointing. We got there in the evening after a long flight, they gave us the wrong key so we had to keep going back and forth to the front desk. After taking everything out of my luggage […] and arranging it in the closet, I realized that the carpet in the room was soaking wet. We were changed to a different room and after going out to dinner, we came back to try to rest only to a very loud room, since the people in our sides were extremely loud. We contacted the from office and nothing was done, The next morning I asked to speak with the manager and the lady at front desk was a little rude and told us that she would have the manager contact us, which never happened and the next night was the exact same thing. We stayed one week at the Hampton Inn and really enjoyed our stay. We had a King suite and felt that it was worth the money as it is spacious. We were on the 4/F and facing the back of the hotel. The room has no veiw but was quiet at night. The location of the hotel is good. It is 2 blocks from Zocalo and within walking distance to a few tourist attractions. […] The complimentary breakfast was not fancy but sufficient. We felt safe at the hotel as it has security guards at the door. The overall service was good. Our only complaint is the restaurant (not the seafood restaurant) located at the hotel. First, the English menu price was not the current price (I don't know how old was the menu as the price difference was almost 20% more). Second, our waiter manually added a 15% service charge onto our bill (not common in Mexico City) and after that, he still wanted more tips. We gave him a 500 Peso bill to pay our check, he gave us back a 100 Peso bill plus 65 Peso in coins (at least 20 coins as there were even a few 50 cents coins). We were so upset that we complained to the hotel manager. But he could not do much as the restaruant was not run by the hotel. Read more

Very nice place. Very clean and the staff are helpful. I like the free breakfast. There was a large selection of food items; not like other hotel who only provide a few food items or a "continental breakfast". I like the decor of the hotel. Also, it was convenient to all places that I desired to visit. top location only two blocks from the Zocalo. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Pharmacies, department stores, convenience grocery store and ATMs all very close. The staff are very helpful and courteous. They organised a couple of tours for me within minutes of my request. The staff was terrific, the hotel is new, clean and beautiful - rooms are very comfortable. The location is great, as it's just a block off the Zocalo in the beautiful Centro Historico. The morning breakfast is just fine, and there are two restaurants connected to the hotel that are quite pleasant for lunches, dinners and snacks, if you don't want to […] venture out. The only unpleasant moment was the night that an alarm went off in a store down the block all night long and it was impossible to sleep... but this clearly wasn't the fault of the hotel. They have a fleet of private taxis that they can call for you if you want to take a longer trip to another part of the City, and they have high speed internet (although wireless is only in the lobby) that's quite adequate. Overall, a very good hotel for a business or personal visit. Read more

It's a great hotel IF you get a good room. It has a great, central location and wonderful breakfast buffet, but lousy customer service. The clerk in registration offered us a pair of ear plugs when we complained that the room they had us in originally (#102) was too noisy! (There were some large fans or motors outside the window which made a loud buzzing/whining […] racket.) So, instead of upgrading us to a nicer, quiet room (the hotel was not full but she insisted that the class of room we had booked was sold out), she instead downgraded us for the one night to a smaller queen room. My friend was a Honors member, but she couldn't find him in their computer. So, we spent one night in a small, queen room--quiet but way too small for 2 people. The second night was better, in a king room that was nice and quiet which is what I thought I had booked us in originally. So I guess you get what you pay for. We thought we had a great deal through expedia, but it turns out they give you the lousy, small, noisy rooms with no view. Read more
