This hotel was great! We stayed in a 2 person capsule which I've never seen before. It was comfortable and the staff were friendly and spoke English well enough. My only complaint is I wish the shower room were bigger, space for only 2 to shower at a time and then in the room with the vanities, when there was a crowd in the morning we were tripping […] over each other. Oh and the rude other guest who started talking just outside our capsule at about 6am, but that's not the hotel's fault that's just inconsiderate European travelers. It's really close to a subway stop, and across the street from a mall with lots of restaurants. We stayed there the weekend we were going to Ueno for cherry blossoms. Read more

This was my first time in Tokyo and since I wanted to immerse myself in the city as much as I could, I chose the Tokyo Kiba Hotel (I will also mention I had little to no cash and wanted to live as cheaply as possible in one of the world's most, if not the most, expensive city). I was warmly greeted when I arrived from the airport. It was a little later […] than most check-ins, but since the hotel is open 24 hours a day it was no problem. I was taken through the hotel and informed about how things worked. The woman that runs it is a great host and made the experience much easier and was always very kind and welcoming. I'll also mention that for a female I think it's a bit uncommon to be able to stay at a capsule hotel since it's usually for businessmen. There were other women staying as well so I didn't mind so much and I never felt awkward or out of place. I would definitely recommend it for any woman if she's seeking a bit of adventure and something a little out of the norm. The hotel is situated on the other side of town from Shinjuku/Shibuya areas, but it is only a lovely walk to Tsukiji and Ginza. This would be my only complaint. This was perfect for a couple of nights to experience staying in a capsule with my fiance. The wash facilities were good enough but lacking the option of a separate shower, communal or nothing. Also the men's had sauna and other addictions that the women's lacked. Worst of all was having our baggage near the front desk, there just isn't enough space […] for a rucksack in the lockers. It is perfect for the price! It is 1 min walk next to Kiba station which is well located. When we got there, the staff were very friendly and greeted us well. Also, it was our first time experiencing the capsule and it was good. We had a locker to put our personal stuff. And the capsule (semidouble) were bigger than expected. I knew when we booked a capsule hotel that it was going to be a unique experience, and it was. The capsule itself was extremely comfortable. We'd ordered a double capsule, and it was sufficiently spacious for a couple. Unfortunately it wasn't particularly easy to sleep because we could still hear the noises made by other residents in other capsules […] (either arriving, or leaving, etc), but that's not the hotel's fault. It was actually more than we expected, and cleaner and neater and more pleasant than we were afraid we were get. The staff at the front desk were lovely (even when we accidentally smashed a bottle in their lobby), the bathrooms were clean, everything was good. I had and still have an aversion to the Japanese version of shared bathroom facilities, where there is no privacy from fellow bathers, but that's my own issue. I recently went for a week in Tokyo and was searching an hotel suitable for me as I wanted be able to explore freely the city as a photographer. At the same time I wanted to discover the real way of living of Japanese people, and experience the 'capsule' hotel. On arrival, I was given my locker key, some kimono, pant, slippers and towels and explained […] how works the capsule system. After changing myself in the locker room, I could use the well equiped bathroom, including showers, sauna and jacuzzi. After a long day of walk in Tokyo taking pictures everywhere, it was quite enjoyable to relax in the bubble jacuzzi set at 41 degres. Shower and go to bed in the cosy capsule. Each capsule includes a small TV, an internet cable ( for those who dont have a laptop to connect on the cable but use a "pad" as me, bring a portable router to connect on the cable, as this will give you wireles that is missing there ) The only wireless which is available is only useable if you have a Japanese phone provider contract, thing that you dont have as a tourist visitor) In overall, this turned out to be quite enjoyable experience. Subway 'KIBA' on the T line is about 100 meters away. This gives you a connection with the "G" Ginza line, and best solution for the first comers is to take a day pass on the JR line ( 730yen for 24 hours) Advantage of the JR Yamanote circular line is that it is not a subway, but external line, so you can see where you would like to stop. About the environment of the hotel location, there is a 'family mart' at the exit of the subway ( 24 hours shop where you can buy some food or others). Crossing the street you get a large 'mall' Itoyokado with all the shopping you might need from clothing to food ( open till 0900 PM) I would recommend Kiba hotel for any Tokyo visitor looking for a practical and economical way of visiting Tokyo. The receptionist was very very nice, spoke excellent English, and gave us a tour of the hotel from top to bottom. The capsule's were clean, though the mattress was slightly uncomfortable. The bathrooms were also clean, though if you are a foreigner new to asian countries, expect an open shower situation. The location was fantastic, quite close to the […] subway (30 minutes or under to anywhere in Tokyo) as well as a department store, a grocery store, and some really awesome restaurants (Japanese, Italian, Korean, Chinese, etc). Highly anticipated visit to my first stay at a capsule hotel. Stayed with my wife in one of the deluxe cabins, which was located on the 5th floor. The cabin itself was large enough to allow both of us to get a good night's sleep, the only flaw would be that the A/C on our floor wasn't functioning properly making it a bit too warm. Das Hotel wirkt auf den ersten Blick sehr ordentlich und gepflegt. Beim näheren Hinsehen aber ist es an allen Ecken dreckig. Es bröckelt putz von den Wänden. Im bad und Toiletten sind viele Fliesen kaputt und es schimmel und rostet. etwas in den Bädern. die Betten in den Capseln werden jeden Tag neu bezogen, aber die Kissen und Decken nicht gewechselt, […] diese stinken miensten und die Matratzen sind oft durchgelegen. Und die Matratzen werden nicht gereinigt, diese sind sehr dreckig und ekelig. Es ist sehr laut dort und die Reinigung fängt dort im Hotel früh an. man kann dort also nicht ausschlafen. Das Personal ist freundlich spricht aber so gut wie kein englisch. Wer einen längeren Aufenthalt plant und Geld für das wesentlich sparen möchte den genügt ein Capsel besser wäre ein Zimmer. Die Bäder werden jeden Tag gereinigt aber man hat dort nicht den eindruck das dort gründlich gereinigt wird, auf den ersten Blick sieht es clean aus aber ordentlich gewischt und desinfiziert wird dort nicht. Durch die Klimaanlagen kann es dort etwas kühl werden. Die Lage ist recht gut weil man von dort aus gute Verbindungen mit den Metrolinien hat. die Gegend ist sehr laut aber es gibt einen kostenlosen Park in der Nähe. Bei anderen Park muss man oft eintritt bezahlen. Supermärkte und Internetcafes sind in der Nähe. man muss kein Duschzeug und handtücher mitnehmen das dies alles vorhanden ist. Internet ist dort vorhanden wer kein eigenen PC mithat. Dies kostet aber tuere 100 Yen die 10 Minuten! Read more
