We love staying at the Shinagawa prince. We joined the prince club (free membership) and with the card you are able to check in earlier than the general public and also opt for a late check out. When I stayed here back in October 2012 we were able to check out at 6pm, which was wonderful traveling with a 3 year old as our flight was not until 1130pm. […] We opted for the "green cleaning" where we got 500 yen for each night they did not need to come clean the room. We used those coupons towards eating at Hapuna for breakfast. There is about 20-30 different restaurants within a one block radius, including tons of places to pick up to go food at Shinagawa station which is literally across the street. Regular rooms are small. Stayed at Annex building last time, they were a little bigger. This time we are at main building, rooms are more updated for sure, but very small. The location of the hotel is very convenient- right across the street from the Shinagawa station. Service was great when we needed anything. We stayed here for a week and the air was extremely dry to the point that we felt thirsty and my skin was itchy. They provided a humidifier/air purifier combo for free. The beds are on the firm side and felt uncomfortable at first but I was able to sleep fine maybe because I was so tired every day. The in-room massage was nice. We enjoyed our vacation at Shinagawa Prince Hotel very much. Their guest relations department are super nice people and were very helpful in our stay. The housekeeping department and personel are very friendly and take care of any problem immediately. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed in 3 different hotels on this trip to Japan and this hotel was by far our favorite. It was our first of the 3 and initial impressions were very good. Views were great (high floor/main tower option) of the city and location couldn't be better being across the street from Shinagawa station with access to the shinkansen. The rooms are fairly […] large compared to most of the other standard Japanese sized rooms we stayed at, but still small compared to most western sized rooms. The food court restaurants weren't very good so I would recommend going off site for your meals, but you can't beat the location to the train station. The hotel also has an aquarium, indoor roller coaster, movies, bowling, etc. We didn't get to go to those so can't comment on them other than that they are available. Read more

The Shinagawa Prince Hotel is actually several buildings under one business umbrella, and the room quality between them is quite different. They are all serviced by the same company and they provide very good service, but the quality of the room itself is highly dependent on which "tower" you stay in. We were in the Main tower for a couple days, and […] the room was very nice with an excellent view of the city. We then moved to the lower priced North tower for several days and the room was clean, but small and with lower quality amenities and no view at all (the back of another building). I brought my teenage daughter and her friend. The hotel had lots of shopping, entertainment, and activities where the kids could wander off to do on their own. While wandering they lost their cell phone, e-reader, and several keys (ughh!!!). Not only was the staff patient when it came to reissuing keys, but they went out of their way to investigate […] who the electronic devices belonged to, and returned them promptly. Really conveniently located. The staff at guest services were fantastic at translating for me. Charging about $25 for my daughter and I to swim in the hotel pool seems a bit over the top. Other than strange fees like that, it was a really nice place to stay with my kids.

Anytime I can go to Tokyo and get a good rate at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel that is GREAT! The hotel has the best location. Next to JR station, walking distance to many, many very good restaurants. If you are not spending too much time in your room and are visiting various places by train, this is the hotel for you. The hotel is just across the street from Shinagawa station where multiple trains connect. The rooms are small, but clean and practical. I stayed in the Main Tower. It comes with a small refrigerator & an electrical pot with tea bags […] (I don't know about the other towers. I heard that North Tower was old and the room was rather worn out). The lunch buffet on the 1st floor in the Main Tower (Hapuna) was phenomenal. 3000 yen is a bit more than what I would normally spend for lunch, but it is certainly worth it. I recommend that you make a reservation, otherwise you might end up waiting for more than an hour. If you want a nice view, there is another buffet on the top of the Main Tower (Top of Shinagawa). It is less expensive, 2500 yen for lunch, with a great view, but the food is mediocre. The coffee shop on the 1st floor in the East Tower (Cafe Restaurant 24) is open 24 hours, and the food is decent for this type of place. I wanted to try the Chinese lunch buffet for 1500 yen at Songoku on the 4th floor in the Main Tower, but I didn't have time for that. Overall, this is a really good hotel for the price. I will certainly stay there again and highly recommend to anyone who want to look around in Tokyo by train. Read more

The North Tower of this hotel is HORRIBLE! The rooms are very old, cramped, and surprisingly dirty! The carpets are brown and dirty, apparently having not been shampooed or cleaned in a long time. This is my 5th stay in 24 months at this hotel. Though it's only rated 3 stars, compare this 3000-room hotel with others in Europe, where 3-stars means a basic level of comfort with barely anything else. This huge complex of 4 separate towers offers differing levels of comfort catering to different budgets. It has a cinema, bowling alley, a swimming […] pool, an oceanarium and several restaurants within its premises. On the perimeter of this complex are several smaller restaurants, a McDonald's, a 7-Eleven, and small boutiques. The room for 2 may be small when you have to contend with 2 suitcases and 2 carry-ons but who's complaining when you are up early and out of the room by 8.00am everyday and don't get back till almost 11.00pm each night. The Shinagawa Prince fulfills my most basic needs and is accommodating of small requests such as extra pillows and hangars. The beds are comfortable, the bath is clean, and the public areas are well maintained. As it also caters to many tour groups from all over the world, be prepared for long queues for breakfast at Hakuna and at check-in especially at peak times. The efficiency is excellent in spite of the challenges. For what I paid per night for a room in this hotel, I have to pay 3 times that amount for a similar class of hotel in Europe. I would recommend this hotel for its value for money. I'll definitely book the Shinagawa Prince again on my next trip to Tokyo Read more

This was our second stay at this hotel. The hotel is very large with three separate buildings including an aquarium and a two floor bowling alley plus the usual restaurants, cafes and shops. For Japan the rooms are relatively large. Whilst the room was kept very clean there were stains on the carpet and the chair which needed attention. We were on the […] 31st floor and the signal for our iPad was poor. The main reason for choosing this hotel for a second time was its closeness to the Shinagawa Station from which you can reach any part of Tokyo. We found there to be very few leaflets or information in English and the information desk was not too clued up on trips we could undertake whilst staying there. However there is an excellent TIC in Tokyo centre near the main Tokyo railway station. There are several places to eat in the hotel including the Top of the Main Tower on the 39th floor and a Japanese restaurant on the 38th. We booked 3 rooms and stayed in Shinagawa for 4 days. This was our first time to Tokyo and this hotel was excellent. Being from Australia we thought we would have communication issues though the staff were great and most speak English very well. There is great options for food both onsite and around the hotel (Japanese, Italian, bakery's, McDonald's […] and even an Irish pub). The train station is across the road which is handy to get to Tokyo (15 mins) or Shibuya (10mins) with the JR pass. Rooms are clean, good space and provide great views of Tokyo. Wifi internet can be bought though if not there is free wired. Read more

Stayed in this hotel last Dec 23 to Dec 28, booked thru Hotels.com and true enough we were given high floor rooms, although the rooms were small for my liking ( Main tower ) , we have a spectacular view of the city. The view at night was really awesome, as we can have a clear view of Tokyo Tower which changes it's "lights" color every few minutes. But best of all, the Shinagawa train station is just across the street ( 2 minutes walk ). good location, just across from Shinagawa JR station, easy access from Haneda or Narita Airport. There were shoppings and cafes nearby for daily necessities and convenience. However, the hotel service staff lack of initiatives, always long queue, and need to prompt to provide map, gave short snap answers not typical of Japanese high standard of service. […] I guess English speaking staff were overworked because of the loads of people going through the hotel day in and day out, they seemed to be tired of their jobs.
