Our family of 4 enjoyed the sheer size and diversity of the hotel. You don't appreciate the excellent beach as it is not in front of the main hotel but its worth the walk and there is excellent food and drink right on the beach. The jerk chicken and/or pork is better on the beach than from the main buffet and the daily paella at the beach is also excellent. Something as minor as the quality of the toilet paper could be improved, The TVs small but excellent variety of cable programming. The main buffet quite good but not as good as our visit last year. We saw signs of cost cutting, such as hard to get a glass of the house wine but easy to order the upscale wine bottle at an additional cost. My family would not know the difference and simply did without wine most nights at dinner. Deserts attractively presented but the taste only ordinary to average. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. Although at one point my sinuses were set off as the person adjoining my room was smoking although the rooms are non smoking. In spite of that one incident I enjoyed my stay at the Gran Bahia.

ROOM The room itself was well furnished and looked after. We were both surprised by how large the room was and how large and modern the bathroom looked. The housekeeper was very friendly (we tipped every other day), but the floors were not mopped daily and a few days we didn't receive a water. FOOD One of the larger spreads I have seen at an all-inclusive, but the quality was hit and miss. Overall, most of the food was over-cooked and bland, so we stuck to the same few dishes, quickly burning out on the offering. The best bet for lunch is to head down to the beach for Jerk Chicken on lunch. Double check on opening/closing times for restaurants as those listed in the welcome packet were not correct. POOL/BEACH The resort is huge and has endless choices for tanning/swimming/drinking, etc. We loved walking down to the farthest end of the beach (by the nude beach) - it was close to the bar, relatively quiet and on a calm part of the reef. Highly recommend reserving snorkeling gear as the wildlife from the adjacent reef is plentiful and worth experiencing. We just got back from our honeymoon, this resort was perfect! For the price you truly get more than expected! I'll let you know a little on each category FOOD: Japanese Restaurant was the BEST, we ate there twice! The Snack bar by the beach was really good too, ate lunch there almost every day! We booked all of our dinner reservations the first day we got there, because I heard they book up fast. After our disappointment we went back and changed the last reservation back to the Japanese restaurant. And ask for doubles in drinks BEACH: It's BEAUTIFUL & RELAXING! the sand is a little grainy but near the shore its extremely soft. There are 2 bars on the beach which is nice. CLEANLINESS: Every time I turned around someone was cleaning something! There were some cups in the pool but there was an extremely rouddy group there that was always getting wasted in the pool. No big deal. I ran into some people that was talking about how dirty the place was but I think they were just stuck up & should have paid to stay @ the Ritz. EXCURSIONS: We booked everything the same day we got there too. We booked everything through the hotel, we did the Dunn River Falls Cool Runnings cool but scarey but a definite do! The resort is very large so expect to do a fair amount of walking to get around. The pool area was clean and well kept. One side is quiet, the other is a little more of a party. Bartenders were accomadating and fun. A little bit of tipping goes a long way, with maids, servers, bartenders etc,. Reserve a chair early if you want one, they go fast. The grounds are beautiful, but the resort is large so you may have to do a little walking. Piscis is the beach snack bar, that is where you will find the jerk chicken, amazing. Its not a 5 star resort, but it is still pretty nice, a good value, and we had a great time. We went there at least once everyday! We arent' 'pool people', but everyone seemed to love the pool as well. The beaches in Negril are the best, but it is 2.5 hours away from Runaway Bay. Hotel is about 1 hour from airport. Only few minor issues. Stay was unforgettable. The golden club package is a waste of money. Buffet food quality was great. The a la carte restaurants were average.

My boyfriend and I stayed @ the Gran Bahia 6/7/2011 for 3 nights and we honestly have zero complaints. The service was great and our room had more than enough space. We stayed in a Junior Suite Superior room and had a beautiful oceanfront view over the pool with a huge balcony (huge bathroom with jacuzzi tub, separate show and toilet too). It was a […] little rainy while we were there but it didn't spoil any fun at all. Even when it rains there it's a warm soothing rain so you still want to be outside and/or in the pool. I would say that the food could have been a little bit better but I managed to find things that worked for me. Breakfast & Lunch are buffets so when they're cooking in such large quantities like that I guess it's hard to satisfy everyone. Not a real biggy for me...And oh the rooms don't have wash cloths so make sure to bring a loofa or your own wash cloths with you. Overall it was a great vacation and we fell in love with Jamaica. They try their best to get you to make a hurried decision using the age old trick " if you dont take ithe deal now, then it wont be available another day. They take your credit card and swipe it before allowing you to see any contract. Be very wary of this. We foolishly made a purchase and regretted it afterwards. The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The only area they need to improve is with the towels for the pool/beach. There were five of us staying at the hotel for 4 days, I got one towel on day 3. Other than that no complaints, we definetly plan to visit again.

The beach was great and they had plenty of chairs and umbrellas.. Again the mgrs and staff were incredible once you got past the front desk. The front desk staff was below par the entire week, rude at times. A few glitches but overall a really good vacation. Nothing is perfect, so worth the money we paid to go for sure! The staff bends over backwards to meet your requests, so let them know if something is not right.
