"Okay but not spectacular"
This trip was better than my last which was in July and very crowded. Quieter although some of the advertised amenities were unavailable. For instance there was no snack bar. My stay at the hotel was for 3 nights only on this visit and it was my last 3 nights of a month's holiday on the island. "Mother's Day Weekend 2013"
My mom, my 3 year old son and I checked in at about 2:30pm, we were told the room wasn't ready but we could go to lunch, that was fine since check-in is at 3pm. We had lunch and returned to the front desk at 3:15 our room was ready. A bellman came and took our stuff to the cottage, the room appeared clean. I didn't see the kids activity, i didn't ask for it as the age ranges from 4 _up, i think it should include younger kids. Our cottage never had an outside light and we were way in the back. We actually had to stay at there next door hotel, Decameron Fun Carribean. The Club Carribean a sewage problem. The beach at Fun Carribean was small and not nice. on arrival at hotel @2:50pm we were told we would be checked-in at precisely 3:00pm. We waited ....and @ 3:05pm enquired how soon we would be checked in so we could rest up from a tiring day of travel....only to be told they were checking to see if our room was ready. "Fight for what you deserve"
Our stay at the Royal Decameron was relaxing and interesting to say the least. The first two nights of our stay was in a substandard room located in the courtyard. Where I would not walk around the room in my bear feet and the best possible words I could use to describe it was a bad motel room. It was small and had an unclean feeling to it. The only […] reason we stayed in this room for two nights and not leave for another hotel immediately was that the hotel staff told us that as soon as the property manager arrived on Monday morning we would be relocated. The remainder of our stay consisted of watching the Glass Bottom Boat sinking while anchored just off the coast and the lifeguards and management staff pulling it ashore. The very next day the Speed Boat sank in the exact same spot and a rescue boat had to hall it to the harbor. The food was fresh but average and lacked flavor. The room we were given the first night was not equivalent to the room that was advertised and therefore was extremely disappointing. The section of the hotel I was staying was under construction. I was not informed about that by expedia or the hotel when I called to confirm. Anyway upon arrival I became aware of the fact. "Not the WORST place to stay, but certainly NOT the best."
We went for a short stay April 24-28, 2011. First of all the hotel is a 90 minute drive from the airport, and that is not including the stops at all the other drop off locations/resorts along the way. If you have been to Jamaica before you'll not be surprised to learn that the drive to this hotel is trashy. Yet, it is a nice proximity to the Dunns River […] Falls. We took the boat out there and had a very nice time. The food was good- not a lot of options but good variety. The gardens are pretty and nice to walk through and sit on the hammocks spread throughout. The beach isn't that great. It has rather small swimming areas with not a lot to look at (if you enjoy snorkeling- which we do!). They do offer scuba diving, which I loved, but they have to pick you up and take you to another resort to do it. We did enjoy the free snorkeling trip. They take you out on a small boat and let you swim around a reef for about 30 minutes, which was fine. Limited to 10 people- only once a day at 1pm and you better sign up early- 7:30am, because it fills up! Mostly, if you are looking for a quiet trip to a beach resort, I would NOT recommend this place. Go to the far beaches to hear the music less. The "entertainment" (read loud bass/ club music) goes until around 11:30pm/ midnight, and you cannot escape it. The huts aren't insulated of course, so you can hear the music all night and anyone walking by and talking. I liked that it was a small resort, clean and well kept, but it was too noisy. This is an average 3* hotel. It's ok and acceptable for the price we paid. No big deal food. You won't go hungry but not a very big choice and variety. Rooms are awful ! "3 star not for kids , spend a little more trust me"
Our Review: (January 5-11, 2011) Overall, we were very pleased with our stay at RDC. We were on our honeymoon and mentioned this at check-in, where we were told we could set up a special dinner for our celebration. We were given our room, which was on the beach (FANTASTIC!). When we checked in with the guest relations coordinator, she seemed rather […] disinterested in us all together, and we opted not to do the special dinner since it was between $40-80 US dollars additional per person ($80-160?!?!). To simplify things, I've broken down our stay into categories, and tried to be as thorough as possible: Rooms: Pillows are pathetic, completely flat and in desperate need of replacement. We made do by folding two of them in half to sleep at night. The beds are hard, but that's just the way it is at most All Inclusive. Our sink developed a major leak under it, and would create a little lake when we washed our faces and brushed our teeth, but we just mentioned it on the way out. The locks are VERY sketchy. SERIOUSLY consider getting the safe lock for $2 a day. Our AC worked decently well, but it could have used a bit more power. Overall, it was a room! We didn't spend much time there honestly, but we had GREAT channels to chose from when we did. We ALWAYS felt safe on property, and someone was always asking us if we were enjoying ourselves. Housekeeping: Always prompt at 9 am, and always waking us up! They did a great job! Food- this really is a multi layered review:: Pick-a-pepper: Good food, but redundant after a week. Usually always lacking on real colorful flavor, but usually something for everyone. GREAT bread station, GREAT dessert stations. Nayaming: Don't get the Caribbean rice. Fish was great, all else, just OK. Also, DON'T get the mint creme dessert, its like rubber. Jasmine Delta: We were completely disappointed by this restaurant.
