"Great honeymoon Hotel"
Fantastic hotel, food was brilliant, the staff were brilliant and the location was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hidden fees and service charges"
So much for an all inclusive resort...there are more hidden fees and service charges than I have ever experienced at an all inclusive resort. And thank to their website that does not let you know about them. :( It's a beautiful place...but food was hit or miss as well.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good but could have been so much better."
The hotel was relaxing and enjoyable. Couples only added to the relaxation and maturity of the experience. The bartender at the Seaside Pool made mid-afternoon feel like 8 p.m. with a good game of Zumi Zumi to start the day off right! The Great House dining experience was fantastic, other than breakfast which was lacking in quality. Both reservation […] restaurants are not worth the wait and time, the Great House restaurants had better food, better service, and an all around better experience. The only real complaint I have is the lack of energy from the playmakers during the middle of the week. They seemed exhausted and overworked making the events they did put on half-hearted. On the excursions the Dunns River Falls was a very fun trip, however, the Cabana boat ride put on by Sandals was too long at the beginning and too short at the end (when you can drink and dance). It was also overcharged as the Dunns River Falls entry fee is only 20 dollars per person. I would not take the boat again. Other than that a fantastic experience! "Great for honeymooners, but the food isn't great"
Beautiful resort, great location, the staff is friendly and helpful. This is really geared for people that have just gotten married. Although, older couples will have a good time too. If you enjoy drinking, you'll really love the endless amounts of liquor. If you go with several couples, it would also be tons of fun. My biggest complaint about this […] resort is the food is horrible. Lunch was simple & good (pizza, burgers, salads); it's hard to mess that up. The dinners where edible but I've better at chain restaurants. I would do an all-inclusive again, but find one with better food. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A great get away place in Jamaica..."
This was our FIRST time going all inclusive at a SANDALS hotel and it was great. Everything they say is true and pictures are as real as when you're there. You have so much going on that if you want to relax at the beach or pools 7 days seem to be short ... There are at least 10 or more different types of cousine at their restaurants and get ready to […] put on some lbs but its all good. You can do all kinds of water sports that are also inclusive in your package... The staff are all Jamaican and are sooo polite and oh boy did they pamper all of us tourists. Excursions to the outside of SANDALS makes it that much more exciting and you get to see what JAMAICA is really going thru, I will let you find out for yourself. BON VOYAGE ... YEAH MON Im sure you'll love it as we did and we'll use SANDALS again!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very underwhelming"
Sandals promotes themselves heavily and likes to point out their 'legendary' service- we didnt experience this. Staff on the whole seemed disorganized, unmotivated and generally to have a bit of a chip on their shoulder. Check in was one of the worst ive experienced. We were shipped back and forth between both sides of the hotel twice before they realized […] where we were supposed to be, told us to sit for check in and then forgot us and then 'upgraded' us to a butler room we didnt want and that forced us a far way from the beach. The grounds are clean but starting to feel dated (90's). The beaches are small, but clean and there are a good number of activities. The food is unspectacular. Generally it lacks seasoning and flavour to make it something special. The buffets were generally horrible, lacked variety. The a la carte meals are not prepared by special chefs but rather folks with less experience. We found more local inspired foods to be the best of the worst and thought the Manor restaurant did that best with goat curry and oxtail. Other foods like italian and even salads were poor, flavourless and prepared without proper attention to detail that could make things so much better. Simple changes could make a world of difference. We stayed at Riu Negril after for a few days and while not a spectacular resort, it was much improved for beach, food variety and staff. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel with excellent service"
The holiday was excellent. I have never met such friendly and helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble. To top it all, the weather was fantastic. I have stayed in an all inclusive resort before and generally the food is disappointing to say the least. This cannot be said of Sandals Grande Riviera. There was a choice of 9 a la carte restaurants and […] no buffet - what a delight. There was a choice of Chinese, Japanese, Italian, French, International and, of course, Caribbean cuisine to choose from, all waiter served in beautiful surroundings and all included. The activities were excellent with free SCUBA diving for certificated divers - this saved us a fortune! The only disappointing aspect of the holiday was the flights. Having looked forward with eager anticipation to flying with Virgin Atlantic we were disappointed. The twilight check in at Gatwick was wonderful; however, the food was mediocre and the cabin crew service, particularly on the homeward bound flight was disappointing. The films on the outward bound journey were not on demand. This was better on the homeward bound journey where we were on a new plane; however, despite the fact that the seats are supposed to have been upgraded on the new planes, as we were seated by the bulk head there were no foot rests for our seats and instead of upstairs being all Premium Economy it now has 12 rows of economy seats meaning an endless queue for the two toilets throughout the night Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great honeymoon Getaway!"
My wife and I just got back from our one-week honeymoon at the Grande Riviera and have to say it is an amazing resort. The resort consists of 3 separate locations (2 are walking distance apart), with the 3rd being a 2 min shuttle bus away. The shuttle buses come every 10 mins or so. Loved that fact that there were no kids running around and that makes […] this resort a great getaway for couples. The resort and beaches never feel overcrowded. There were tons of excursions and events offered including lots of nightlife and shows. There was an AWESOME chocolate buffet party and a beach party buffet, snorkeling, shopping, etc. And if you just want to chill on the beach and do nothing....plenty of space to do it on! If you do like the beach, I'd advise staying at the "seaside" and preferably the little villa we stayed in, or "beach club" portion of the resort so that you don't have to take a shuttle to the beaches each time, which is what you have to do if you stay on the "hillside" section. Staff was also great and friendly, overall we have nothing but great things to say about our say during the 3rd week of May 2012. Great hotel, great facilities, great, staff!
