Milan’s central station is monumental; full of marbled halls, terraces and mosaic floors. It is Northern Italy’s largest and busiest station and, arguably, Europe’s most splendid. Most international and high-speed trains arrive here and there is easy access to the city centre by metro. Nearby soars the Pirelli skyscraper (Grattacielo Pirelli), Milan’s highest building and symbol of its prosperity.

The storied Principe Savoia is well known by most business and leisure travelers and for good reason. The hotel is lovely and well situated. Unfortunately, this is where the experience parts company from the reputation. At nearly every turn, I found the staff to be confused, harried and frustrated which resulted in lost luggage, missing reservations […] and many sighs. Even when the hotel made an effort to "apologize" for their gaffs, it was done with a perfunctory effort and general lack of sincerity, which was generally followed by yet another mistake. While the errors could certainly be considered small, for a property of this level with rates that are certainly toward the top of the spectrum, the service level was a huge disappointment and bordered on amateurish. Before the 2 nights at the Savoia, I had spent 4 nights at the neighboring property of the Westin Palace. The staff at this location couldn't have been more professional and was even helpful in facilitating my move across the street, since they were fully booked. The Principe staff politely declined to assist me - even though I was an arriving guest. Not only will I not consider returning to this property, I will certainly actively recommend against this location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel with disappointing overpriced room in the annex"
Principe de Savoia has a wonderful, lobby, great bar, fantastic restaurant and an overall great mbiance. Rooms in the annex ( previously Duca d'Aosta ) however are extremeluy disappointing, old and overpriced. Rooms there are jus a "non-go".Genuine Expedia guest review
""Be very careful""
Bit of a mixed bag: +ves Staff were attentive and consistent with expectations of a 5+ star hotel. Rooms are stylishly furnished. -ves Food in hotel over priced for the quality. Location not great tourists would be better nearer the Duomo. Location noisy on major tram and metro interchange. Concierge restaurant recommendations patchy (one excellent, […] 2 poor). Bad experience on the Saturday night. Because the hotel is large it caters for corporate parties and similar. On the Saturday night the music from one party went on until 12-45 a.m. so loudly that the room was shaking, this was a second floor room therefore the room below must have been uninhabitable. Would recommend prospective guests check they are higher up the hotel and enquire about any functions in the hotel during their stay. Unfortunately Duty Manager was disinterested in our complaints eventually offering that we could move room at 12-30 a.m. having assured us the event would stop by midnight as that was the hotel policy, but he felt unable to dissappoint 300 party guests. Therefore having dropped in to have a look at a few would suggest one of the other 5+ start plus boutique hotels catering for private travellers. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
