I needed to be in Rome for a weekend to attend an Opera event. i wanted something near the Train Station (Termini) and the Opera as I was arriving by train and not going to do much else. I have a stand-by hotel in that area but the prices have gotten out of control so I searched for an alternative. Diana was the perfect choice! Right where I wanted […] to be, across from a favorite restaurant and two blocks from the Opera. I had a perfectly adequate room with a nice surprise; a private terrace! Breakfast was the usual fare but in a lovely room on top of the hotel with a view and a terrace. WiFi was good and all "molto bene". The air conditioning is set to come on at a set time in the evening and goes off at a set time in the early morning. We actually had quite warm weather and as the bathroom was small it was a little uncomfortable getting ready in the morning.

We had a great time at the Hotel Diana. The staff was very helpful and courteous. We stayed there a few days before our cruise and after getting on the ship I realized I left my watch. I emailed the hotel and after a few days they let me know that they had found it. I was so relieved. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay. I stayed for one night before my return back home. The front desk was not hospitable. I arrived at 12:15pm and the attendant at the front desk did not acknowledge me until I greeted him. He was busy looking at available rooms for another guest who was checking in for multiple people who weren't expected […] to arrive until 4:30pm. When I finally got checked in, 12:30pm, I was told there were no rooms available at the moment and that check in wasn't until 1pm. If I hadn't pointed out the advanced check-in that occurred a few minutes ago, they would have had me wait another 30 minutes to give me a room. The wait staff in the breakfast room, on the other hand, was quite friendly and helpful. They greeted everyone with a smile and were ready to provide information on the food served (breakfast was complimentary... like most other hotels). This service was refreshing compared to the service I received the day before. The bedroom was very clean and the twin size bed was very comfortable. Again, this review is based on a one night stay. The only negative was some noise from a local business dumping bottles a few times at night. Otherwise we enjoyed our visit very much. We would stay again. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooftop was great. We also enjoyed many of the neighborhood restaurants.

Though this hotel is a little farther from the major tourist sites, the savings in price would make it worth the additional cost in transportation. This is a decent 3 star quality hotel in reality. The location is fine, close to both Termini and Republic metro stops as well as several useful buses (we found the 64 most useful for Vatican and to get to the Imperial Forum) and staff were helpful if a little inept at times. Overall this was clean and decent, even if some fixtures and fittings were broken or badly fitted - It was almost impossible to fit our plug adaptors into the 2 available sockets as light switches were in the way. There is a lovely roof terrace for breakfast or to sit and quietly read the guide book. The room was very clean but the bed was hard and the air conditioner did not work, leaving the room quite hot. Opening a window meant a lot of noise from dishes and other air conditioners. Be sure to ask for a room with a shower if you don't want just a bath with a hand held shower. They were pleased to change rooms for us the second day once we asked to be moved.
