The heart of Ancient Rome, all roads led to the Forum. Visitors flock here to walk the streets where Julius Caesar once trod when this was the centre of commercial, political and judicial life. Nearby, the Colosseum, described by Lord Byron as 'the gladiators' bloody circus', is the world's most famous amphitheatre and the most impressive of all Rome's buildings and ruins.

Generally the expectations for the Rome hotels are below regular European standards but even here I can say that the hotel has many things to be considered for improvement. Breakfast is poor (that is a surprise for Italy), the trays are empty all the time. The staff is slow and reacts to the requests like guest owe them something. TVs in the room are […] museum age. If you are a Elite Plus - don't expect to get any bonuses except for a letter that you had a chance for them but you won't receive anything cause of high occupancy. And while going to the restaurant of the 6th floor during the day be ready to share an elevator with maids with carriages and to wait your turn after them for 10 minutes. Internet connection is poor but it is widely all over Italy. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great room but all else so-so"
Service was spotty: usually had to call twice for ice, sometimes the bar tender was a no-show, tried to give me somebody else's dinner bill, screwed up dinner reservations. The prices are out the roof at the hotel restaurant: $200 for an average dinner and $140 for lunch! The room was great, and there is a hop-on hop-ff bus stop less than a block away, […] but in tourist season you may not be able to get on due to the buses being full. Great location for seeing the Coloseum and Forum, but you'll have about a 3/4 mile walk to get to any restaurants. Bring a bottle because cocktails are $21 each at the bar! "Satisfied"
The walls were paper thin could hear all your neighbors .The location was pretty but not close to cafes or restaurants.Staff was friendly and rooms very clean.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fortyseven Preferred Boutique Hotel"
This hotel provides very good service; most staff are friendly, but a few are a bit surly. The property itself has become a little run-down in the last 5 years since we stayed there, but is in acceptable condition. A king-sized bed is really two doubles pushed together, so there's an awkward seam in the middle just below the sheets. The food at the […] rooftop restaurant has improved enormously -- far better than most similarly-priced restaurants in Rome. Terrific location for trips to Forum, Colosseum, Trastevere and other sights, not so much for shopping. Lots of nickel-and-dimeing going on -- ridiculous internet use rates. "Hotel 47 in Rome"
Was not able to have a drink at the rooftop with the view, because we were pre-empted by a wedding. The glass shower door was off it's track and it took two trips to the lobby to get a maintenance person to fix it. The room was elegant, the location wonderful, but better service at other hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice location"
One of the advantages of the hotel is its location, not all staff members are nice and attentive to the guests needs.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Centrally located, but pictures are deceiving"
The hotel inside and itself was adequate and clean and located well for the many well known sights. However, the pictures shown are deceiving. It shows pictures from the rooftop restaurant (not where breakfast is served) and does not show the side views of an alleyway which was very scruffy! Finally, the 3 euro per night per person tax was a slight […] surprise and not widely publicised . Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I really liked the hotel decoration and my room was very comfortable and clean. However, I was very annoyed that the roof terrace was closed both nights I was there because of a private function. Don't book this hotel thinking you can enjoy drinks or dinner looking over Rome ( as they make so much of in their advertisment). I think if you pay a fair […] amount for a hotel, it's not unreasonable to expect use of all the facilities. The staff were adequate, except the concierge who was excellent.
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
