Rome’s central train station, Termini is the entry point to the city from Fiumicino Airport, and is an impressive modern architectural sight. Ok hotel, close to the train station, which is good choice location if you'r planning to do day trips from Rome by train as I did. Breakfast is basic buffet, enough if you are not looking for anything sophisticated, and the serving times were quite good: 6.30 to 10.30 AM. "Bad-let me count the ways..."
Physical impressions on first entering are fine, until you have to talk to any staff. They were indifferent and seemed to barely tolerate us. We were given a TINY room, dark - the exterior shutters were closed because the room faced an ugly alley and building 20 feet away. It was extremely noisy from the hallway people walking by and doors closing late […] into the night. At breakfast, coming with 30 minutes of closing, selections were limited - items not replenished. The wait staff completely ignored us, not even a good morning. Wifi - had to get new logon info each day - annoying. Bathroom so tiny, had to move sideways to get to toilet. Open electrical socket/box on wall. On complaining about room, we were grudgingly shown another room - same size, better view but only a small shower no tub, so we stayed where we were. Incidentlly, the tub was about 3/4 size - sit up tub, coulldn't really relax. Seems lots of tours stay here so an independent traveler is just lost in the shuffle - we are scrapping this reservation with 3 days to go, to move to our favorite Roma hotel - Hotel Canada. We chose this hotel for our last 2 days stay in Rome. The price and proximity to Termini station was the reason for choosing Hotel Nord Nuova. Please note that the Termini area is kind of a "rougher" neighbourhood. Speaking of storing keys, I was quite shocked that I could just walk in, say my room number and front desk would not even ask my i.d before giving me the room keys - not very secure. Room was old but clean, the bathroom was extremely small! Wifi was not very reliable as you get a "wifi" scratch card, much like a phone card and signal was very bad in the rooms. Breakfast was very average compared to other hotels in Rome. There isn't anything special about the place, but it is a very high priced room close to all the tourist attractions in Rome. The staff is not pleasant. The street outside the hotel serves as a trash collection point for all the businesses on the road. Easy train ride from airport to the train station! This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel and overall it has improved since the last time. The rooms are comfortable and of a reasonable size and staff are helpful. "Bad AC during hot summer days"
The central air-conditioning in the hotel, in my opinion was not woring properly. We stayed 4 nights from 8th to 11th July - in the peak of summer season when it was unusally hot in Rome this year. We asked to change room - and changed 4 rooms, but the AC was not working well in any of them ! The first night we couldnt sleep due to the heat in the room […] ! Additionally the staff would turn off the AC without notice, and we would have to call them to turn it on ! The staff would not pay much heed to the bad AC, although they allowed us to change rooms whenever requested. We would not reccommend this hotel to anyone staying in summer. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is very convenient to the main train station and it's easy to pick up one of the hop-on hop-off bus tours from several nearby stops.
