The staff and the location of the hotel was excellent. The breakfast served in the morning was excellent. However, the room was small which is okay but mainly the bathroom was not up to the standard of a four star hotel. I was prepared to be dissatisfied with this hotel as i purchased it through the Expedia blind hotel program based on the description and location in Rome. When I saw the name of the hotel and checked reviews I was very disappointed in my non cancellable purchase. The location description on the hotel's website states they are just a few short steps […] from the metro stop (these were their words, not mine). I was furious to get to the metro stop and find that the hotel was at least a quarter of a mile from the stop. It was 95 degrees in Rome and I had to drag a 40 pound suitcase for a quarter of a mile! With all of that said, I have to say my expecations were exceeded by this hotel in every other way: Room was delightful and effort had been made to provide a boutique type decor. No charge for wifi Excellent breakfast with many varieties of foods both hot and cold When it rained, there were complimentary umbrellas by the door for guests Beautiful courtyard and main floor entry that was very comfortable and inviting. Neighborhood very safe and lovely. My standards are very high as I have traveled extensively. My only complaint was the distance from the metro. Had a great time at Hotel Emona, staff was great, my little room was safe and clean and comfortable. The hotel is about 3 blocks from the train which can take you all over the city pretty easily. This hotel is clearly not deserving of its 4 stars. The TV didn't work, the bed and bedding were really low quality and their wifi only worked in the hallways. Booked this through Expedia "Unpublished Rates". Not a chance this is a 4-star hotel - It may have received 4/5 on trip advisor (not sure how) but that's about it. Room was old. Everytime we took a shower it leaked all over the floor. Everytime we turned on the sink it also leaked. The hand towel rack was hanging on by what looked like wire. The cabinet […] that the t.v. was on looked like it may fall apart. There were no drawers so you couldn't really unpack your stuff. The comforter on the bed was the thickness of a sheet - with no extra blanket (good luck if you're staying through the winter months). The bathroom had a pedistal sink and no space to put anything. The a/c broke halfway through our stay. Breakfast was okay, nothing to write home about - Nice that it was included. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Not as close as I had hoped to major sites. Hotel staff was just ok. Supplies in bathroom were minimal. Airconditioner was not cold. Bed was not comfortable, pillows were flat. No balcony. On the good side, bath had hot water, hotel entry was nice, continental breakfast was not terrible.

This hotel was in a nice quite suburb but near to the metro (5 min walk) and the railway station (15 min walk). The breakfast was good, buffet with lots of choice. The public areas were nicely decorated and the outside patio was great to relax and have a drink. After a long day sightseeing it was great to be in a quite environment.

Let me just preface this review by saying this is the first time I've travelled in Europe, so maybe much of this is common. But it's not what I'm used to or expected from a so called four star hotel. First of all, everything is small. The room is small, about 9 feet by 15 feet. No desk and no room for luggage which had to sit on the floor. The bathroom […] was okay, although again very small. The shower had a nice high rainfall shower head but unfortunately the shower itself was only about 30 inches wide so you could not get out of the way of the water to lather up. There is a safe in the room but you could not use it until you went back down to the front desk to get the key. Also the room was noisy from the front courtyard. There was supposed to be internet in the room but it did not work even after bringing it to the attention of management. Fortunately there was a computer available in the common area but even that did not work all the time. I suppose the air conditioner in the room technically worked, however it would take about 10 hours to cool off the room. It didn't help that the cleaning crew would turn it off each day so each day we would return to a hot, stuffy room and no chance for it to cool off before bedtime. Breakfast was okay. Same thing every day - undercooked bacon and scrambled eggs, yogurt, some bread and pastries. There was a bowl of fresh fruit which was nice. Anyway would not return or recommend this hotel.
