As an airline pilot i travel the world for a living .Hotels i stay in must be reasonably priced for the company and meet my high standards for my own comfort including not being next to an airport so i can live normally when not working. Starhotels Michelangelo met all my criteria. Rooms , we had two.No electronic card for door lock , a very solid KEY […] , this is how it should be , electronic card keys can be compromised for your information which is stored in card. No carpets ,wood floors , exceptionally clean . Bathroom , all white tile and spotless. I think they used vinegar to clean with and i find this excellent. Shower curtain clean and crisp i think they change it for each arrival. Bed , very comfortable , clean crisp white linens ,Double crisp sheets around the comforter Staff at desk are excellent and very friendly and helpful no attitude here. House keeping manager deserves high awards , very clean all around. Area Location , EXCELLENT , the vatican 500 ft away , a nice place to stroll through anytime of the day.I strolled the vatican square every night until 2am. All other attractions within walking distance , 20 minutes longest to Colosseum and Borghese Gardens , visit Harrys Bar before passing through the arches of old rome on route to gardens. Food , The absolute best is right around the corner , Hostaria Quattro Mori Be ready to eat big.Fixed price per person everything included ,everything. "Starhotels Michelangelo Rome, close to Vatican"
Admitted, we are spoiled travellers, used to 5 stars or more, Ritz Carlton and likely. Our opinions can be a bit colored in a negative direction. We choose this hotel in Rome because the Vatican was in the backyard, and we had meetings there. The hotel was not good and not bad. But definitely not a 4-star in our opinion. We booked a junior suite - more […] junior than suite :-) The room smelled vomit, the (free) wireless internet did not work in the room, so we had to sit in the bar to check e-mails. Service was OK, staff friendly. Hotel in general was worn out and a bit dirty. In general it is situated in a boring area. except for the Vatican. Avoid the low quality restaurants close to Vatican. You find them when you go left out of the Hotel front door. Instead - when you leave the hotel, go right, 200 metres, and there is a little church. Look left, there is a little road, here is a fantastic fish restaurant on the left side. I think its called Quattre Moine. Eat and drink until you die for a fixed and reasonabel price. Hotel liegt nahe zum Vatikan, dennoch ruhig und ist gut zu erreichen, Ausflüge in die Stadt und zu den historischen Sehenswürdigkeiten sind kein Problem, wenn man das etwas verwirrende römischen System des öffentlichen Nahverkehrs akzeptiert.
