It was a great location!! Staff was very helpful and had many suggestions for dinner and tours. I really enjoyed that is was an 19th century builing that really made you were a part of history, which is why you usually visit Vatican City.

First off, this is NOT a 4 star hotel by any standards (US or European). It might have been several years ago but is showing a little age. That said, this hotel isn't bad and you can't argue with the price! Pros: - Friendly Staff - Clean - Great location, not in the middle of town but it's a 10-20 minute walk to most everything - Taxi station is right […] down the street for a quick way to get to the train station - Vatican is right there! - Great cheap breakfast in the morning with a great view - Great shuttle service and comparable rates for the return to the airport - Friendly and helpful staff - Free wifi in the lobby and pay for time in your room (pretty common in Europe) Cons: - Smoke: I have asthma and the first night I had to use my inhaler. If you are super sensitive to smoke you might have issues. - It's misrepresented as a 4 star hotel. It's a solid 3 though - The heating was not that great and the rooms are a little drafty The rooms are small by american standards but not bad. it's a great place to sleep and we were out most of the time. Regarding the smoke smells, the staff let us check out another room on a different floor and really did try to help the best they could. It's also just the fact that we are so spoiled with "smoke free" areas in the US so it takes some getting used to. If you are on a budget and want a clean, safe friendly hotel this is a great place. My husband and I stayed here Dec 4-11. I thought the location was good- 10 minute walk to Vatican, 10 min to Metra train to go to Colliseum, Spanish Steps, etc., 20-30 minute walk to Trastevere. The room was decent, clean and fairly quiet except in the morning there is traffic noise starting at 7 am, wish I had brought ear plugs, but not a serious problem. […] I think you would likely have traffic noise at most of the hotels though unless you stay at an inside room, but then no view. There is a "hair dryer" in the room, but I would recommend bringing your own as it looks like a vacuum cleaner and takes a long time to dry your hair. The staff was helpful with all the questions we had. We didn't have the hotel breakfast, there are some quite nice little "bar's" near-by serving caffe, cappuccino's and yummy little pastries with-in just a couple minutes walk. Great hotel in a wonderful location! a few minutes walk from Vatican city. The staff is extremely nice although not all of them are too fluid in English which can be a problem at times. Personally there are a few great local authentic Cafe's around the hotel (NOT in Piazza del Risorgimento which is expensive) which we liked better and had a coffee and a pastry for around 5 euros. The hotel also offers a shuttle back to the airport for 40 euros for 2 persons. Might be comfortable, but down the street (Via Crescenzio and Piazza Cavour) there is a bus shuttle stop for a company called "Bushuttle" which goes to Fiumicino for around 6 euros - careful - you should check that you will have tickets for it - if it's full the next takes a while to come - makes no additional stops on the way to airport. Hotel is well located close to Saint Peter Square and Vatican Museum. It is a 5-10 minutes walk to both destinations. You can also walk from the hotel to the main touristic spots in Rome in about 30-45 minutes (Fontana di Trevi, Piaza Navona, Pantheon, Saint Angel Castle). The coliseum is a little far away but you can easily reach it by metro. A metro […] station is within 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel and there is a metro station at your destination right in front of the Coliseum. Front desk staff are ok in helping you whith what you need. However, there is a guy named Franchesco who really makes the difference. He is extremely friendly and helpful in providing directions and information on what to do, where to go, or how to move from one place to another while in Rome. If you need something or want some information, he is the guy you need to talk to. If you are traveling in a budget, there is a grocery store two blocks away from the Hotel where you can buy basically all you need for your breakfasts and snacks.The Hotel provides a van service that pick you up for free from the airport. I felt like I was definitely in ancient rome. The decor in the rooms was very old. The bed mattress seemed to be from 1925. Although I slept comfortably enough. The bathroom fixtures were all quite old and outdated - but everything was clean. The location was very nice and super close to Vatican. We walked everywhere during our stay...even all the way […] to the Colosseum. The night bartender was super friendly and made me a great cup of tea. The strangest thing was the room key - it was huge with a big tassel on it - and if you didn't want to bring a big bag with you -it was hard to simply carry in your pocket. The front desk made arrangements for a taxi to take us to the airport early one morning and unfortunately I didn't specify I needed one that took credit card. I figured they all did. This hotel is OLD. The room was very very dark. The decor from yeons ago. The front staff decent enough. The breakfast was nice. But I don't think I could stay in such a dark room again. Despite the location to the Vatican. It was many blocks from the train station too which was hard on my Mother (esp in the rain).

This hotel is close to the Vatican (within a 5 or 10 minute walk) and there are restaurants (recommend La Coppa di Oro, reasonable prices and the food is delicious!), a pharmacy, a cyber/telephone cafe, a small convenience store (fruit, bread, shampoo etc), and taxis nearby (again, all within a 5 or 10 minute walk max). The staff we encountered was friendly for the most part except there was one man (we couldn't get his name) at front desk during the evenings who was very rude. Other than that, maps of the city are also provided and the staff is friendly. Our room was clean, had one bed which was comfortable, a small refrigerator, a TV, and extra blankets if needed. The bathroom was also clean and a hair dryer is provided. There were two telephones, one in the bathroom and the other by the bed and although they seem outdated, they worked fine. The only things that we didn't really like was the fact that there was only one trash can and no phone dialing instructions. Also, as a reminder, remember to bring your own adapters/electricity converters because U.S. plugs are different but if you forget to do so, you can always buy them at the hotel front desk for 5 euro or 10 euro depending on what type of adapter you need or you could go to the cyber cafe and buy them there as well. I am happy I selected this hotel for my first trip to Europe and Italy. The hotel is located just a short walk to the Vatican and not too far from a Metro stop. There are many shops and restaurants near the hotel, and there is a bus shuttle that takes you directly back to the airport in about 50 minutes for only 8 euros. We just returned from Rome where we stayed at the Atlante Garden Hotel from Feb. 16 - 19, 2012. The best part about the hotel was its location. It is very close to the Vatican - about as close as you can get without being inside Vatican City. It is also close to the Metro stop and the stop at St. Peter's Square where the hop on/off busses are located. […] The reason we chose this hotel was the price and also because they pick you up from the airport (40 Euro savings). The rooms were clean and standard size for europe. They do charge a 3 Euro per person per night fee which all hotels in Rome charge, so take that into consideration. There is wireless internet throughout the hotel (not the best) and a bar on the lower level (pretty expensive). There is no restaurant in this hotel. Overall, this hotel was a good value and very well located. It is not a 4 star hotel by US terms, so do not have a high expectation. Read more

First the good: pleased with size of our room. There were 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids) We had a corner "quad" room, #345. These are european hotels - no one expects grand suites but the room and especially the bathroom was nice in size. Everything was clean and staff was helpful and friendly. Ate breakfast at hotel 2 of 6 mornings. Like most buffet's, adequate but expensive. Things I would have improved on: I like a firm bed, but the mattress on our bed was like a rock. Luckily, we were dead tired from walking so much so it didn't prevent me from sleeping. The street noise did however. I live in Dubai and am accustom to a little road noise but the hotel is located on a very busy street. We adjusted quickly but if you're a light sleeper - don't forget the ear plugs! We notified the front desk on day 2 that our refrigerator was not working. Would have enjoyed some of the beers and drinks from the fridge if it wasn't room temp. :( No attempt to fix or follow up regarding. Same with hairdryer. 1980's wall mounted dryer that had hole in hose. Most of the hot air escaped from hole which would burn your hand before you were able to dry hair properly. Notified front desk of this as well. No repair/or follow up. Even a little tape would have helped. Read more

The Atlante Garden is located in a residential neighborhood very close to The Vatican. It is an extremely safe and enjoyable location with a Metro Stop located just a short 5-10 minute walk away. There are also many average dining services as well as cafes and shopping. A good chioce!

The Atlante Garden Hotel is a very convenient location for visiting the Vatican and the Roman Forum and its surrounding areas. We walked most all places - and felt very comfortable and safe. The (free) pick-up service from the airport was great. We had an issue with lost luggage from the airline for two days and the front desk was "extremely helpful" […] with phone calls, etc. We did not reserve the breakfast included with the room, because it was little pricey - there are several street cafes nearby - but some more expensive than the hotel.
