The world's smallest country, Vatican City is dominated by St Peter's, Christendom's largest church. Michelangelo's humbling 'Pietà' and his Sistine Chapel ceiling frescos are among the world's greatest works of art. The Aurelio area is named after the ancient Via Aurelia, the main road that connected Rome with Spain, and is convenient for visiting the city's sights.

It was a great location!! Staff was very helpful and had many suggestions for dinner and tours. I really enjoyed that is was an 19th century builing that really made you were a part of history, which is why you usually visit Vatican City.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Knowing what to expect..."
First off, this is NOT a 4 star hotel by any standards (US or European). It might have been several years ago but is showing a little age. That said, this hotel isn't bad and you can't argue with the price! Pros: - Friendly Staff - Clean - Great location, not in the middle of town but it's a 10-20 minute walk to most everything - Taxi station is right […] down the street for a quick way to get to the train station - Vatican is right there! - Great cheap breakfast in the morning with a great view - Great shuttle service and comparable rates for the return to the airport - Friendly and helpful staff - Free wifi in the lobby and pay for time in your room (pretty common in Europe) Cons: - Smoke: I have asthma and the first night I had to use my inhaler. If you are super sensitive to smoke you might have issues. - It's misrepresented as a 4 star hotel. It's a solid 3 though - The heating was not that great and the rooms are a little drafty The rooms are small by american standards but not bad. it's a great place to sleep and we were out most of the time. Regarding the smoke smells, the staff let us check out another room on a different floor and really did try to help the best they could. It's also just the fact that we are so spoiled with "smoke free" areas in the US so it takes some getting used to. If you are on a budget and want a clean, safe friendly hotel this is a great place. If you are looking for 4-star luxury that it's not and you'll need to pay accordingly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"BRAVO TO THE HOTEL STAFF!"
Was steps away from everything! location is awesome. Staff is great all speak english well and are very helpful! Room was to be expected for europe, no complaints and all my stuff was always there! There is a bar right next to it nothing to do with the hotel with nightly live bands and great drinks, staff is a little unpleasant hate there job attitudes […] but great watering hole! so you can get wasted and walk back in like 30 seconds :) Coffee shop across the street easy access for moring rush. The hotel has no restraunt but a nice little bar with a wonderful staff.. but they do have morning buffet its typical european... eat outside anyway is better.. I love rome but it sure has gone down hill they got hit hard by the economic downturn and is obvioulsy very clear to see...but staff if wonderful would reccommed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BRAVO TO THE STAFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Excellent place for a lifetime experience"
Perfect location - the Vatican and ancient Rome within walking distance, polite and helpful staff, delicious breakfasts in a restaurant overlooking St Peter's Basilica (totally breathtaking). Excellent lodging - very comfortable bed and a luxury bathroom; we enjoyed every moment. Thank you for your hospitality!Genuine Expedia guest review

Nice, clean but small room, fairly comfortable bed. Large bathroom, very hot water, whirlpool tub/shower Needs a couple of brighter light bulbs, very hard to read. Free internet pc in lobby area. Close to good restaurants, shopping.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, good location, fair price"
My husband and I stayed here Dec 4-11. I thought the location was good- 10 minute walk to Vatican, 10 min to Metra train to go to Colliseum, Spanish Steps, etc., 20-30 minute walk to Trastevere. The room was decent, clean and fairly quiet except in the morning there is traffic noise starting at 7 am, wish I had brought ear plugs, but not a serious problem. […] I think you would likely have traffic noise at most of the hotels though unless you stay at an inside room, but then no view. There is a "hair dryer" in the room, but I would recommend bringing your own as it looks like a vacuum cleaner and takes a long time to dry your hair. The staff was helpful with all the questions we had. We didn't have the hotel breakfast, there are some quite nice little "bar's" near-by serving caffe, cappuccino's and yummy little pastries with-in just a couple minutes walk. I would recommend this hotel, thought the location was good and price fair. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel in a great location!"
Great hotel in a wonderful location! a few minutes walk from Vatican city. The staff is extremely nice although not all of them are too fluid in English which can be a problem at times. The room is small but very cozy and comfortable. Everything you can ask for the price and then some. The hotel offers a breakfast service for an additional 10$ per […] person a night or something around that. Personally there are a few great local authentic Cafe's around the hotel (NOT in Piazza del Risorgimento which is expensive) which we liked better and had a coffee and a pastry for around 5 euros. The hotel also offers a shuttle back to the airport for 40 euros for 2 persons. Might be comfortable, but down the street (Via Crescenzio and Piazza Cavour) there is a bus shuttle stop for a company called "Bushuttle" which goes to Fiumicino for around 6 euros - careful - you should check that you will have tickets for it - if it's full the next takes a while to come - makes no additional stops on the way to airport. All and all a great experience and highly recommended. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"OK, not great."
Old world character was good. Traffic noise during the night was loud. Sounds from next room were easily heard. Location for shopping mid level, Vatican and St Peter's was great One desk clerk was quite rude. Typical for EU, double room was small. Shuttle from airport was terrific, you don't want to drive in Rome unless you must. Return shuttle was […] 40 Euros for 2 people. No WiFi Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good Hotel Close to the Vatican Museum"
Hotel is well located close to Saint Peter Square and Vatican Museum. It is a 5-10 minutes walk to both destinations. You can also walk from the hotel to the main touristic spots in Rome in about 30-45 minutes (Fontana di Trevi, Piaza Navona, Pantheon, Saint Angel Castle). The coliseum is a little far away but you can easily reach it by metro. A metro […] station is within 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel and there is a metro station at your destination right in front of the Coliseum. Front desk staff are ok in helping you whith what you need. However, there is a guy named Franchesco who really makes the difference. He is extremely friendly and helpful in providing directions and information on what to do, where to go, or how to move from one place to another while in Rome. If you need something or want some information, he is the guy you need to talk to. If you are traveling in a budget, there is a grocery store two blocks away from the Hotel where you can buy basically all you need for your breakfasts and snacks. The Hotel provides a van service that pick you up for free from the airport. I would recommend this Hotel to a friend. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel for the Money"
Clean rooms. Decent breakfast. Comfortable bed. Good location. Friendly staff. Overall a very good experience for the money. The staff were particulary helpful (even to the point of suggesting that we go somewhere else for breakfast). We only had a 10 minute walk to the Vatican and the same to Casa San Angelo.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Old hotel but a good place to stay near vatican"
its not a 4 or 5 star hotel but it was convenient for us since we'd like to stay close or near the vatican museum. we were out most of the days so we've never really got the chance to spend time in the hotel. Its close to the train station A, so it became easier for us to roam around the city. We felt safer also walking at 6 in am to go to the station […] (traveled with female friend). We enjoyed our trip, and we'll go back and stay at this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A bit old, but good location hotel."
I felt like I was definitely in ancient rome. The decor in the rooms was very old. The bed mattress seemed to be from 1925. Although I slept comfortably enough. The bathroom fixtures were all quite old and outdated - but everything was clean. The location was very nice and super close to Vatican. We walked everywhere during our stay...even all the way […] to the Colosseum. The night bartender was super friendly and made me a great cup of tea. The strangest thing was the room key - it was huge with a big tassel on it - and if you didn't want to bring a big bag with you -it was hard to simply carry in your pocket. The front desk made arrangements for a taxi to take us to the airport early one morning and unfortunately I didn't specify I needed one that took credit card. I figured they all did. But the poor man who took us had to end up taking US$ for payment since we didn't have enough Euro's left... overall it was a wonderful visit. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Close to Vatican"
This hotel is OLD. The room was very very dark. The decor from yeons ago. The front staff decent enough. The breakfast was nice. But I don't think I could stay in such a dark room again. Atlante Garden Hotel is an excellent location for experiencing Rome and the Vatican. I do wish however that these hotels have affordable internet access. This however is the norm in Europe.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable, Secure Place"
Atlanta Garden was a reasonably convenient hotel and provided a nice clean, comfortable and secure room. Biggest issue was the lack of wifi service in the room. It could be used easily in common areas though. Other minor issues included no towels in the room upon our arrival, a broken cabinet door and the lack of a bottle opener which was required for […] some of the items in the mini fridge. "Great location"
This hotel is close to the Vatican (within a 5 or 10 minute walk) and there are restaurants (recommend La Coppa di Oro, reasonable prices and the food is delicious!), a pharmacy, a cyber/telephone cafe, a small convenience store (fruit, bread, shampoo etc), and taxis nearby (again, all within a 5 or 10 minute walk max). The hotel itself is clean and […] offers free breakfast (if you book online) although we (my sister and I) didn't have the opportunity to try it since we were on tours and pick up time was earlier. The staff we encountered was friendly for the most part except there was one man (we couldn't get his name) at front desk during the evenings who was very rude. Other than that, maps of the city are also provided and the staff is friendly. Our room was clean, had one bed which was comfortable, a small refrigerator, a TV, and extra blankets if needed. The bathroom was also clean and a hair dryer is provided. There were two telephones, one in the bathroom and the other by the bed and although they seem outdated, they worked fine. The only things that we didn't really like was the fact that there was only one trash can and no phone dialing instructions. Also, as a reminder, remember to bring your own adapters/electricity converters because U.S. plugs are different but if you forget to do so, you can always buy them at the hotel front desk for 5 euro or 10 euro depending on what type of adapter you need or you could go to the cyber cafe and buy them there as well. "GET NEW BEDS!!!!!"
This hotel is nowhere near anything close to a 4 star hotel. That is just plain wrong that Expedia advertises it that way. Now having said that, let me say that this could be a decent hotel. The number one issue I had with it was the poor quality of the bed. They need new beds. The room itself was plenty spacious. The location is excellent. The staff […] was generally very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was traditional european and very adequate. The bathroom in the room was okay...could have used updating, but not terrible. Everything was clean as a whistle. But the bed was so horrible. New beds would greatly elevate my opinion of this place. I would go back there ONLY if I knew they had new beds. Did I mention the beds were awful???? Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A wonderful place to stay in Rome"
I am happy I selected this hotel for my first trip to Europe and Italy. The hotel is located just a short walk to the Vatican and not too far from a Metro stop. There are many shops and restaurants near the hotel, and there is a bus shuttle that takes you directly back to the airport in about 50 minutes for only 8 euros. The staff could not be anymore […] helpful. They were patient and spoke English very well. I am grateful to them for making my experience in Italy a great one. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location - clean rooms"
We just returned from Rome where we stayed at the Atlante Garden Hotel from Feb. 16 - 19, 2012. The best part about the hotel was its location. It is very close to the Vatican - about as close as you can get without being inside Vatican City. It is also close to the Metro stop and the stop at St. Peter's Square where the hop on/off busses are located. […] The reason we chose this hotel was the price and also because they pick you up from the airport (40 Euro savings). The rooms were clean and standard size for europe. They do charge a 3 Euro per person per night fee which all hotels in Rome charge, so take that into consideration. There is wireless internet throughout the hotel (not the best) and a bar on the lower level (pretty expensive). There is no restaurant in this hotel. Overall, this hotel was a good value and very well located. It is not a 4 star hotel by US terms, so do not have a high expectation. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Dec 2011 review"
First the good: pleased with size of our room. There were 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids) We had a corner "quad" room, #345. These are european hotels - no one expects grand suites but the room and especially the bathroom was nice in size. Everything was clean and staff was helpful and friendly. Lobby bar is small but convenient and serves everything from […] wine to great cappuccino. Free shuttle on arrival was appreicated too. They also arranged return shuttle for us for $50 euro. Ate breakfast at hotel 2 of 6 mornings. Like most buffet's, adequate but expensive. Things I would have improved on: I like a firm bed, but the mattress on our bed was like a rock. Luckily, we were dead tired from walking so much so it didn't prevent me from sleeping. The street noise did however. I live in Dubai and am accustom to a little road noise but the hotel is located on a very busy street. We adjusted quickly but if you're a light sleeper - don't forget the ear plugs! We notified the front desk on day 2 that our refrigerator was not working. Would have enjoyed some of the beers and drinks from the fridge if it wasn't room temp. :( No attempt to fix or follow up regarding. Same with hairdryer. 1980's wall mounted dryer that had hole in hose. Most of the hot air escaped from hole which would burn your hand before you were able to dry hair properly. Notified front desk of this as well. No repair/or follow up. Even a little tape would have helped. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location, Friendly Staff"
The Atlante Garden Hotel is a very convenient location for visiting the Vatican and the Roman Forum and its surrounding areas. We walked most all places - and felt very comfortable and safe. The (free) pick-up service from the airport was great. We had an issue with lost luggage from the airline for two days and the front desk was "extremely helpful" […] with phone calls, etc. We did not reserve the breakfast included with the room, because it was little pricey - there are several street cafes nearby - but some more expensive than the hotel. There were some reasonable eateries, but if you are in a rush, it would be much better to eat at the hotel and then be on your way. We would definitely stay at this hotel again ! We have nothing but good things to say about the Hotel. The staff were great, they spoke english and were very helpfull. The airport pick-up was on time and free. The Hotel booked the return trip at a very good price. The room was clean and confortable and the size you would expect for the price. The Hotel was six blocks from St. Peter's Square and […] eight blokcs from Vatican Museum. Metro was further but in waling distance. Could't figure out the bus routes from Hotel. A lot of shops, eating places, banks and markets in the area. The breakfast was good (cold breakfast) but if you do not want to pay the extra $12 per day, the delli across the street has coffee and rolls for 4 euros. The staff recommended good places to eat.
