The world's smallest country, Vatican City is dominated by St Peter's, Christendom's largest church. Michelangelo's humbling 'Pietà' and his Sistine Chapel ceiling frescos are among the world's greatest works of art. The Aurelio area is named after the ancient Via Aurelia, the main road that connected Rome with Spain, and is convenient for visiting the city's sights.

Older hotel, but very good condition. Near Vatican, great location. Restaurants in area are very good and not expensive. Only complaints are that Wi-Fi is only free for first 5 minutes and it can be hard to get an iron if needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice place, great value for the family"
This was our first trip to Rome. We picked the hotel due to positive ratings and its location on the map close to the Vatican, as well as its room offering. We were pleasantly surprised at just how close to the Vatican it is as well as being located close to the Metro and on a bus route to the Collesium. The hotel was about 1.5 miles from John Cabot […] University, an easy walk. The room we had held three beds, good for our familiy of four. No one had to suffer sleeping on a pull out sofa! The registration desk staff was not much help with local information; however, the bartender in the hotel more than made up for it. We visited with Andreas every night winding down our day and he gave us practical how-to-get-around advice, as well as sights worth seeing from the perspective of a local. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious. The room is meant for just sleeping, it is not set up for work or hanging out in, but since we were in town to see the sights it was perfect for us! "Excellent place for a lifetime experience"
Perfect location - the Vatican and ancient Rome within walking distance, polite and helpful staff, delicious breakfasts in a restaurant overlooking St Peter's Basilica (totally breathtaking). Excellent lodging - very comfortable bed and a luxury bathroom; we enjoyed every moment. Thank you for your hospitality!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel for the Money"
Clean rooms. Decent breakfast. Comfortable bed. Good location. Friendly staff. Overall a very good experience for the money. The staff were particulary helpful (even to the point of suggesting that we go somewhere else for breakfast). We only had a 10 minute walk to the Vatican and the same to Casa San Angelo.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Vatican"
I would stay here again. The rooms were nice, though somewhat cramped by US standards. The staff were always courteous and helpful. The breakfast was always excellent. The hotel is just a few blocks from the Vatican which is why we stayed there. The hotel is on a bus line, and, other bus lines are just a block away. For the fruegel, a small grocery […] is just a block away. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Atlante Garden Hotel is an excellent location for experiencing Rome and the Vatican. I do wish however that these hotels have affordable internet access. This however is the norm in Europe.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Met Our Expectations"
The hotel was very quaint, quiet, and close to all of the attractions. The hotel location was GREAT. Everything was within easy walking distance. This included the attractions, Metro, Shopping, the Market, and eating establishments. The air-conditioner worked great, people were nice and more importantly the price was affordable. I would have no hesitation […] in recommending this establishment to anyone. Actually, my family and I will book with this hotel or its sister hotel again next year. "An Enjoyable Time"
The hotel and their staff were as helpful as can be...the only problem we had was with their phone system which could NOT handle overseas calls till after midnight Italy time...Phone system in this hotel was antiquated at best...One of the nicer hotels with easy walking distance to the VaticanGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location, Friendly Staff"
The Atlante Garden Hotel is a very convenient location for visiting the Vatican and the Roman Forum and its surrounding areas. We walked most all places - and felt very comfortable and safe. The (free) pick-up service from the airport was great. We had an issue with lost luggage from the airline for two days and the front desk was "extremely helpful" […] with phone calls, etc. We did not reserve the breakfast included with the room, because it was little pricey - there are several street cafes nearby - but some more expensive than the hotel. There were some reasonable eateries, but if you are in a rush, it would be much better to eat at the hotel and then be on your way. We would definitely stay at this hotel again ! "Charming Hotel with a staff that cares about you."
Great hotel, the staff was very friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help a customer. The airline lost a guest's luggage and the staff spent hours talking with the airline on her behalf to assist in locating her luggage. The room was larger than most rooms that I have stayed in Europe, and had a full size bathroom. Only complaint with the room […] was that the bed was a little hard. "Excellent location"
We traveled in November to Rome and this hotel had an exceptional location for us. We love to walk so we found all the fountains and the Forum and Colosseum very accessible. We also toured the Vatican museum and it was wonderful to be close enough to walk right into line early to get lots of time in the museums. The staff was very helpful and speaks […] several languages. We also speak Spanish so it was great to practice with the desk person. Breakfast was a great way to start the day and lasted a long time. "Great Location & Stay"
It’s a perfect location to see the Pope in the Vatican! It is literally down the street. To see the Coliseum you just jump on the nearby Monorail which is very close as well. I'm American and we expect bigger space especially for the price, but this hotel comes very close. It was a nice room with friendly service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location, Good rooms, friendly staff"
My wife stayed here on our honeymoon just last week (9/20/2011-9/28/2011). It was a great Hotel. The room was well furnished with a double bed, desk, TV, 2 chairs. A bathroom with a W.C. (toilet), bidet, and Jacuzzi/bath/shower. The shower-head was on a line that connected from the faucet on the tub, located to the side of the tub, not at the head, […] and you could hang it on a holder for taking a shower. They included bath foam, which got really foamy when the Jacuzzi was turned on. The TV is small (not that we cared, it was never turned on once), but if you are going to Rome to watch TV in your hotel, save your money and watch TV in america, or go out and explore the wonderful city of Rome! It's a four star hotel, but keep in mind, it's not like a 4 star in America, not as luxurious. The room is small by American standards, as in smaller than a room at the Holiday Inn. It costs money to use the Internet or the computer in the lounge, but these things are common in Europe. The elevator is tiny, but again, Europe, it's an old building! The staff speaks English, especially the front desk guys, and they are very knolwedgable about practical matters, like where to change money, a bite to eat, how to get to some of the churches. The best part is the location! turn right and walk 2 blocks (which are tiny in Rome) and you are on Via Octaviano, which takes you to St. Peters, or the Metro station. A nice little resturant on the corner as well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Walking distance to the Vatican and more"
Very satified with the stay, walking distance to the Vatican and more, excellent service, would return to this hotel in the future. Although the dinner on the rooftop was not worth the price of the food, would not recommend that to others.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel was fantastic. Very clean, quiet location, friendly staff, and comfortable. This was the best hotel we stayed at in Italy. The only complaint I have is that you have to pay for wifi. The hotel implies that wifi is free.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best hotel location in Rome"
The room assigned was small with just a very small window and I was afraid I would feel claustrophobic when I first got in. However, when I went out for a walk, I realized the hotel's proximity to St. Peter's square and the town's central plaza. The restaurants, cafes and shops were just around the corner. The open-top bus stop was a mere 5 minutes […] walk away and if you fancy going to Burger King, there is one nearby. Highly recommended! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, complimentary airport pick-up was a bonus"
The Atlante Garden was a great hotel tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood minutes from the Vatican. The service at the hotel was great, breakfast was delicious, and everyone working at the hotel was very nice and willing to answer any questions we had. The complimentary airport pick-up was a bonus. I would recommend this hotel to my family.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fine hotel"
My wife & I spent 10 days at Atlante Garden to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We very much liked the hotel. It is very convenient to the Vatican, and an easy 10 minute walk to the Ottaviano Metro stop. The 492, 23, and 81 buses will become your best friends. The service was friendly and competent. The room was very, very clean. The breakfast (included […] in our price) was good. The room was very quiet - no traffic noise and almost none from our neighbors. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioning was terrific, and a life-saver for us. Apart from the Vatican, the hotel is a bit out of the way. But we really can't complain. Piazza di Risorgimento and Via Ottaviano are nice places to eat & shop. The hotel delivered on everything it promised, including the free pick-up from the airport. They were upfront and honest - and that's saying something for Italy. Very minor complaint: the bathroom door didn't latch properly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great 10 days near the Vatican!"
We enjoyed the hotel, our room was on the 4th floor and plenty big, even as a triple with 3 of us in it. We loved the rooftop balcony at the end of the day with the view of St. Peters peeking through the buildings. Very convenient neighborhood with everything within a few blocks. Great sights, food and shopping all right there. One of our favorite things […] was the Ottaviani cafe directly across the street each morning to enjoy a cappuccino and hazelnut pastry and get ready for the day. No issues with our room the jet tub was in use every day! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect location, will return !"
We had a great time! Great location! Six cafe's within a block. The Vatican is only a few minutes away by foot. Shopping and fine dining within 500 meters. Room was clean and comfy and staff was VERY helpful. Suggestions for restaurants were perfect and the manager was very informatitve. Don't miss the Argentine Steak house and the rooftop restaurant […] at the sister hotel Atlante Star. (one block away). We felt very safe at night and walked each night till midnight. Manager was always there at 8 am and when we returned from Dinner at 11PM. Very impressive. No surprise charges and the checkout was one minute. The bill was exactly as we expected. Metro is 5 mins. walk. Don't eat at any of the main square pizza places! They rip off tourist with $10 coffee and $20 sandwiches. Just go one block off the main square and coffee is .90 cent. ALWAYS ASK FOR A MENU FIRST TO CHECK PRICES!!! Careful with the Taxi. Same thing. ASK HOW MUCH BEFORE YOU GET IN! Still love Rome!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The Atlante Garden was just a few blocks from the Vatican and the Hop on Hop off Bus. Other transportation was nearby but we did not use that. 4 days was optimal for sightseeing. "Great Stay by the Vatican!!!"
This place is terriffic! First off, some reviewers seem confused. They expect European hotels to be like American resort hotels and that isn't the case. On average European hotels are smaller, smaller rooms, continental breakfasts, etc. This place was terriffic! Nice room, huge bathroom. The guys working the desk spoke good English and were friendly […] and helpful with eating location advice and other directions. Just a five minute walk to either the vatican or nearest metro, this place is definitley worth the price!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel that is close to the Vatican."
We were there with a total of 4 adults in the room and the room was full but not crowded. The hotel is old and we had a little trouble at first getting the room warm enough. We were there for sightseeing and did not spend that much time in the room. It served our purpose well. We did not use the restaurant.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent reasonably priced central Rome hotel"
The Atlante Garden is a very nice hotel with an excellent location in central Rome. Close to the Vatican and many nice quaint restaurants. "Fantastic location for Rome!"
The room was smaller, but comfortable, even with three people. If the 3rd person is an adult, let them know ahead because they initially provided a bed for a child, and the wooden slats on the bedframe broke the first night. They replaced it with an appropriate bed the next night. The room was tastefully decorated. No dresser to store clothes, but had […] an armoir closet. Bathroom was relatively large, provided bath sheets for towels. Housekeeping excellent. Hotel quiet, even the walls were padded under the linen wall covering. Hotel pick-up provided from airport, as well as door-to-door pick up for tours that we signed up for. Our luggage was lost in Atlanta, and the concierge desk was very accommodating to let us call the airlines from their phone several times. Mossimo and Francesco were most helpful with all of our many little needs and inquiries during our stay. Loved the bellhop - he didn't speak English but was always so willing to help! If you call for a taxi, be ready because they come within 10 minutes and the driver gets grumpy if kept waiting. Ours charged extra 5 euro for the few minutes wait to bring our luggage down from our room! The elevator is tiny, so took at least 2 trips to bring all of our luggage down. We will definitely stay here again next time in Rome! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
