This hotel is nowhere near anything close to a 4 star hotel. That is just plain wrong that Expedia advertises it that way. Now having said that, let me say that this could be a decent hotel. The hotel was nothing like the pictures, it was really old and not very clean. The wallpaper was peeling from the walls and the carpet was really old. I don't know how they give stars in Rome but this should not be a 4-star hotel. The bathroom was not clean. There was so much rust. The bathtub had permanent stains. We were looking forward to a couple of days in Rome at Christmas time and the Atlante Garden seemed like a good choice, big mistake. The hotel hasn't been updated in decades, dark and flocked padded wallpaper in the rooms were terrible. "Travelers beware....not what it seems online!"
We were very excited to stay at this hotel based upon pictures posted on Hotels.com but quickly became disappointed after arriving. Upon arrival we were surprised by the staff's inability to assist with bags or any other request, as he stated he was the only person working and couldn't leave the desk. After many hours of flying, we were anxious to get […] a cold drink and snack and quickly realized they offered nothing of the sort...no drinks or snacks for sale, no vending close by, no room service, no nearby stores. There was a small fridge in the room with a couple cans of coke but nothing else. When trying to get our bags upstairs by ourselves, we came across the smallest elevator in history. Requiring one of us to walk the stairs and the other to take 3 trips in the elevator (our 3 suitcases would only fit one a time in the elevator). When opening the door to our room it was obvious that their idea of air conditioning did not match ours.There was some a/c but you had no control over temp and it was about 82f in the room at night. Our shower leaked horribly and the room was half the size of a typical standard hotel room. The door knob didn't work to get us into the room and when plugging anything into an outlet, the device would short! Breakfast was horrible! We were forced to switch hotels after the 1st night and lost quite a bit of money, as we were booked and paid in full for several nights at this subpar hotel. Do yourself a favor....do not stay here! "Ok to get your head down but definitely not 4 star"
We took the free airport shuttle that the hotel offered but that only gets you to the hotel. You have to pay €20 per person for a return trip. We were met by a fairly humourless driver who hardly said anything to us on pick up. The journey to the hotel took about 40 minutes and there were no problems at check in; the receptionist was quite pleasant. […] Initial impression of the room was not great. There was a hole in the bed cover and the in room phone was covered in dust which didn't change. The bathroom area was quite big and nicely decorated but the fixtures and fittings had again seen better days. The heating in the room didn't work and we had to request extra blankets to stay warm overnight. There was one quite thin pillow per person and the mattress wasn't exactly comfortable. Breakfast was €9 per person and was ok if a little pricey for what you get (no hot food!). There are no in room facilities for making drinks which was a bit of a nightmare if you've spent a day sightseeing as it would be nice to chill out with a cuppa after realising around all day. There is a bar at the hotel which doesn't open until 5pm, again not great as you can't even get soft drinks anywhere before this time. Location is great if you want to see the Vatican but for anywhere else you need to get the metro or a bus. Overall I don't think this hotel would receive 4 stars if looked at again and have to wonder how many years ago it actually did get them??! I don't think I'd book to stay here again. "A disappointing hotel"
The reception area of the hotel was in the basement and this should have told us everything we needed to know. The bar area was a sad little space again in the basement and the breakfast room was pretty shabby. The quality of the breakfasts also did nothing to recommend the hotel. "An OK hotel if you want to be near to the Vatican"
The location of the hotel was good for access to the Vatical and St. Peter's Square. We couldn't see the view of St. Peter's dome from the roof of the hotel as advertised in the hotel blurb. The hotel is in an ideal location near the Vatican and within walking distance of the Metro, however the room we stayed in was quite small, pipes were hanging out the wall in the bathroom, paint hanging from the ceiling above the bath and the wall covering not secured correctly. De billeder, vi valgte hotellet ud fra, er helt forkerte, vi savnede den viste udsigt og den flotte restaurant, som viste sig at være fra søsterhotellet Atlante Star, og ikke fra Atlante Garden. L'Hotel Atlante Garden era chiuso per manutenzione ed una persona dell'hotel mi ha detto che tutte le prenotazioni erano state spostate all'Hotel Atlante Star poco distante. The hotel website and its pictures give an impression of a genuine 4-star hotel; in fact the reality is dark and old-fashioned with ancient plumbing and electrical fittings and it is in serious need of demolition or gutting and refurbishment.
