Home of the Rialto Market, San Polo is the busiest 'sestiere' (district) after San Marco. For local colour, great little shops, bars and cafes, the Rialto market area is a must. Dining on the Grand Canal next to the iconic Rialto Bridge is a romantic Venetian cliché. Near the bridge, the Ca' Pesaro is home to the Museum of Modern Art while 16th-century masterpieces are on show at the Frari church and Scuola Grande di San Rocco.

This hotel is excellent proof of how expensive Venice is. Room was basic but not as bad as I had expected based on the other reviews. Water in the shower was not working and the breakfast was 'served' in a hotel 5 min away since they were refurbishing their resturant. There was however no sigh of work being undertaken. The breakfast was pre-packaged […] toast and jam. You might as well save yourself the time of going there and just splash out on a nice breakfast in the amazing city of Venice. "Hotel Iris, Venice"
My daughter and I stayed for 3 nights and it was ideal for our time in Venice. The room was 'cosy', + a small bathroom which was unexpected as we thought we would have to share a bathroom with other guests. Staff were friendly and helpful. A good place to crash after a day of walking, walking, walkingGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Das Hotel Iris liegt dicht an der Scuola San Rocco"
und nahe am Anleger San Toma, die ruhige Lage in San Polo genossen wir dankbar nach Rückkehr von trubeligen Ausflügen in San Marco o.a. Wir trafen auf Renovierungsarbeiten im Hotel, diese waren auch dringend nötig. Also erhebliche Abstriche in puncto Ästhetik in unserem Zimmer u. Geräuschpegel. Der Hotelservice war bemüht durch sauberes Bettzeug und […] Bad/Handtuchwechsel einiges wett-zumachen. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel Iris - not worth the money"
The personnel at the hotel weren't friendly at all and the whole appearance wasn't too good. There was a huge hole in the roof and the stairs were crooked. The AC wasn't working AT ALL and it was like sleeping in a sauna. The location wasn't too great either, in a shady street in the middle of nowhere.. About 15min walk from the train station and 20min […] from San Marco. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
