Best Western Premier Hotel Sant'Elena

We were a sort of late honneymooners.... The hotel is located at the far end of the main island and not easy to find the hotel on night arrival as we did. Nevertheless, we loved the hotel and the staff was helpfull. On the other hand, the location is a blessing for honeymooners.

It's is in a super quiet residential area. The water bus is only about 150 yards away and you can get anywhere you need to easily. We were glad we stayed out Side the tourist area which is very busy and noisy. It is an enjoyable 15-20 min walk to St. Mark's square. Get the water taxi ticket that includes the grand canal tour for an extra 10 Euro. You […] can but an unlimited ride water bus pass in different increments of time, very hand with the location of this hotel. Seems out if the way at first but once you understand the system, it isa great place to stay and be able to hear a pin drop after the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. My wife and I were convinced that it would be our destination to stay next time we get to Venice. Note a few small places to get a drink, coffee or pizza, etc... But if you want a full meal, do that in one of the more tourist areas before getting back th the hotel. Breakfast was included and acceptable. The picture of the hotel was deceiving. This hotel is supposed to be a 4-star hotel; however, the mat for the shower looked like a rag. Clean towels were placed on the cleaning toilet. This is a great hotel. Unfortunately I was there 1 week before the A/C was turned on and it was a bit muggy, that's the only thing that brought down the rating from excellent. The staff was incredible, some of the most helpful I found in all of Italy. The location is outside of Venice in a nice area with trees and locals. Peaceful hotel, slightly out of the way in S'ant Elena. Easily reached from the train station by waterbus and a nice 20 minute walk along the water to the city center. The area is lacking in nightlife and restaurants, but the surrounding park is nice for daytime people-watching or lounging prior to trekking around bridge-filled Venice. The hotel is very conveniently located in a very quiet neighbourhood. Water buses to all the must see places are less than 5 minutes away on foot. St Marks Square is an easy stroll of 20 minutes or so on the the flat. The Sant'Elena hotel is well maintained and blissfully quiet. Breakfasts were well presented and had plenty of variety to suit all tastes. […] Dinner at the hotel was quite pricey but the quality was great. Our only slight disappointment was that our ground floor room had no outlook and fairly high window sills so it was a bit cell-like. However it was very clean and had plenty of provisions. We would definitely ask for upper room or one facing the garden area if we returned for a future stay. We wanted to be away from the madding crowds of Venice. This hotel is truly a hidden gem. Surrounded by parks and tree lined foreshores.... Rare for Venice. We had a fab few days in Venice. The hotel was just outside the centre so it was a quiet escape from the hussle of the city. It was so easy to jump on the waterbus which is about a one minute walk away or a ten minute walk to the centre.

This was our third time staying at the Sant'Elena. We were given the same room as our last stay. The room was small but comfortable. The bathroom could do with a bit of TLC. Stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. Great location, peaceful and quiet. Room of a good size with all the usual amenities. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was in a light and airy room, good choice and quality of food. A 2 minute walk from the water bus stop and only 15 minute walk from St.Marks Square. This friendly and efficient modern hotel has all necessary facilities and is just four quick vaporetto stops from San Marco with very frequent services. Set in a quiet residential area with leafy public gardens and squares, this hotel's location combines convenience to the centre with a peaceful tranquility which provides a wonderful contrast to the […] hurly burly of the tourist trail. The staff are friendly and efficient and our junior suite provided sufficient space for a seven night stay without the feeling of claustrophobia. There is a wired internet connectiion in the rooms and WiFi in the public areas. There is a decent breakfast buffet which can be eaten in the restaurant or taken out through a door into the walled garden or into a separate open sided dining room in one corner of the garden itself. The rooms are crisp, modern in style and have all necessary facilities. The only minor downside is that whilst there is a bar situated inside the restaurant this is not somewhere for an intimate nightcap - and it closes at 11.00 pm. The hotel is situated just few hundred metres from the vaporetto stop and there is a canal which runs directly alongside the building enabling convenient drop off and collection if you wish to take a private water taxi from or to the airport. This takes 30 minutes versus 90 minutes on public water buses and it eliminates the need to hump bags to and from the vaporetto and then between boats when changing at the Lido (not cheap but fast, fun and much more convenient). Note. We stayed here at the end of Feburary, it was pretty cold (went below 0C one night - so pack warm at this time of year), just before the Carnevale went into full swing. Hotel was pleasant to stay in. The breakfast in the hotel was very nice and filling, which was good as we needed the energy with the amount of walking we did. Tried the hotel […] restaurant the first evening and it was okay, but expensive for what it was. The neighbourhood it's in is very quiet, actually totally dead is a better description. Not sure whether that's because it was the off-season or whether it's normally like that. Didn't spot any decent looking restaurants around though. If you like a quiet hotel then go for it (which I do), people who like to party until the early hours may want to get a hotel closer to the centre of town. A pleasant surprise was that they gave free wi-fi, though are room was a little out of range, so had to go near the lobby area to use it. They also have a computer connected to the Internet in the lobby area, but no printer. You can still do flight check-ins then print your boarding pass at the airport. Read more

Having stayed here previously and had what we were told was a junior suite at a discounted rate booked online prior to Best Western taking control, we were disappointed to have a been given a small room with the bed wedged into an alcove with no access to the bed from either side. Having complained about the cramped room we were offered an alternative […] which was slightly better but as the hotel was fully booked this was the only alternative. We accepted. The dining/breakfast room is small and could not really cater for the amount of clients at breakfast, we tried the evening meal in the restaurant, the tuna was over cooked, so we ate out most nights. Service I must say was very good, but unfortunately the previous experience remained and this fell somewhat short of our expectations. Location is excellent, away from the crowds, would we recommend it, yes, is it really a 4star hotel, no, it lacks facilities and it is too expensive. Would we go back there again, most probably ! Hôtel qui semble avoir été modernisé ce qui apporte un certain confort et qui constitue un atout (insonorité etc..). L'hôtel n'est pas à proximité immédiate de la place St Marc, mais on peut y être en 15/20 minutes en longeant la lagune [belle promenade] ou en 5 minutes en vaporetto depuis Sant Elena (Arrêt à 2 minutes de l'hôtel). Le quartier n'est […] pas trés touristique mais agréable (calme loin de l'excitation des touristes ce qui est agréable en fin de journée) et plein de verdure. Globalement, la situation me semble idéale surtout que les accès depuis l'aéroport sont grandements facilités (ligne Alilaguna de Marco Polo à Lido et vaporetto de Lido à San Elena [1 arrêt]). Chambre spacieuse et Propre. Salle de Bain propre (chambre standard). Petit déjeuner complet qui permet de bien démarer la journée. Personnels parlant Français et serviable (et souriant en prime). Rien à mentionner sur le service. Possibilité de mettre ses affaires dans une consigne le jour du départ pour éviter de visiter venise avec ses valises. Lit parapluie pour bébé mis à disposition dans la chambre. WIFI disponible :) 2 petites remarques : Le restaurant de l'hôtel ferme relativement tôt le soir, Pas de clim dans les chambre en Avril alors que les température étaient relativement élevées en journée même si je reconnais que la clim est "une" grosse consommation d'énergie et qu'il faut savoir s'en passer. L'hôtel était vraiment agréable les chambres sont modernes et bien équipées et le petit déjeuner buffet est vraiment très bien :-) Le gros défaut est le personnel qui n'est pas des plus sympathique nous sommes dans un 4 étoiles et le personnel manque de politesse et de professionnalisme (on ne vous dit pas bonjour, la femme de chambre vous fait patienter […] au lieu de vous laisser rentrer et de finir une fois que vous êtes partis). A part ces petits désagréments l'hôtel est calme loin du bruit de la "Piazza San Marco". Il se trouve à 5 min à pied d'une ligne de vaporetto donc il est facilement accessible. Read more
