The Sitano is an interesting and mainly successful attempt to place a modern design in an old palace. BUT : The rooms have very low levels of lighting; when we asked 3 times for an extra lamp we were refused altho the hotel did not look full. The internet did not work in our room, and the hotel said it was not their fault.When we asked for extra hangers--twice--nothing […] happened.The problem may be that the two ladies at the front desk, who were personally very helpful when we had questions, seemed very overworked. When we arrived late Friday night there was no where to park--there is no on site parking despite claims to the contrary--and only the lady at the front desk so no one to help get luggage out of our car as traffic whizzed around. We raised all the problems with a manager, who did nothing to make things better. A final note--do not drive to the hotel.--it is not worth the hassle. Read more

Our first time in Palermo and adored the city! Low key and casual the hotel was near the maritime gates of the city & surrounding baroque neighborhood.Hotel room was large with great bathroom and closets,tho not a lot of bath products and no robes... internet access a real problem free for half an hour and changing access codes really problem for us […] to stay in touch with business at home!! Fantastic hotel. The best (and to be honest, the only real) breakfast I've had in Italy was included with my room. I know it sounds silly to write that first in my review, but I'm a guy who enjoys eating. My girlfriend and I stayed in the deluxe double room, and it was very clean upon check-in. Every day the cleaning staff would clean the room very […] well, and even organize our shoes and bags we had carelessly left on the floor. The only complain I had about the room was that the wall between the shower and the rest of the bathroom wasn't long enough, so some water would make the floor slippery, but is that even a real complaint? The staff were very helpful, especially the gentleman at the front counter when we checked in. Most of the staff spoke enough English to point us in the direction of some good restaurants right around the corner. It is located in a decent neighborhood close to the water. It was about a 20 minute walk to the botanical garden, which my girlfriend enjoyed very much. I suggest taking a bus to Mondello for some beach time during your stay (about 40 minute ride), and then a bus ride up to Montipelligrini (about a 45 minute ride) for the most stunning view of Palermo from mountaintop. The wifi is slightly pricey and hourly, but you really don't need wi-fi. You are in a beautiful city surrounded by mountains in Sicily. Go out, explore, and enjoy yourself! Read more

Business-type hotel well located for walking to many sights in Palermo. Several good restaurants close by for those concerned with night-time safety. Also ATM/bank just 2 blocks away. Balcony looked out at side street; our second floor room was usually quiet except for a noisy Saturday night. Large breakfast buffet. Staff spoke English and were helpful. We would definitely return to this hotel. Note: to avoid driving in Palermo, we parked our rental car at the airport and took a Prestia Comande bus into town. In our three weeks driving around Sicily and several spots south of Rome, no one came close to the bountiful breakfasts at the Falkensteiner. There were numerous choices of both hot and cold items. They even had one person assigned to squeezing fresh orange juice! (By the way, Falkensteiner is a small chain of hotels based in the Tyrol area of Austria. […] Thus, the non-Italian name.) Our room was not not particularly large, but was designed in such a way that it felt like a junior suite. There was a partial wall between the bed area and the sitting area. The wall went to the ceiling, but did not go to the side walls, thus allowing us to walk on either side of it. The main item in the wall was a large flat-screen TV. On the other side of that wall was a large mirror. The TV/mirror swiveled 180 degrees. This gave us the choice of watching TV in bed or in the sitting area. Or, if one person wants to go to bed, the other person can still watch the TV in the sitting room. The hotel is less than 2 years old. Therefore, the bathrooms and all other facilities of the hotel have all the latest features. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bottom line is that if we are traveling in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy or any other nearby countries, we will check to see if there is a Falkensteiner hotel available. Read more

The hotel staff could not have been more helpful. The young ladies on reception spoke very good English and could help with all our queries. The hotel is in a very nice location just round the corner from Piazza Marina and within walking distance of many of the most interesting Palermo sights. we had a fantastic stay at the end of our trip around the South of Italy. my main aim on arriving in Palermo was to find a military hospital where my grandfather was kept as a PoW and i was concerned with the tourist information office being closed I wouldnt be able to find it. Das Hotel liegt zentral in der Altstadt in einem renovierten alten Palazzo. Wir hatten ein Zimmer zum Hinterhof und nachts war es dadurch angenehm ruhig. Die Standardzimmer sind modern eingerichtet, wenn auch etwas klein. Die Klimaanlage ist indivuell regelbar - in unserem Zimmer war sie jedoch recht laut.

Høflig betjening. Her er det klasse, kanskje overklasse, men du vil trives på dette hotellet i Palermos gamle bydel. Går helt greit med engelsk , for deg som ikke har øvet inn italienske gloser før ankomst. Noe borthjemt og du må gå en litt mørkere gate til hotellet, men ingen fare.
