This lakeshore town near the Swiss border has elegant parks and medieval buildings. It also has a busy industrial quarter based on silk manufacture, and is a fine place for shopping. A museum traces the history of Como’s textiles, which still supply the great fashion houses of Europe. Main sights are a handsome Gothic - Renaissance cathedral, and the Romanesque church of Sant’Abbondio, decorated with 14th-century frescoes.

"Lovely People and Excellent Location"
I can't say enough about the people in this place. They were wonderful. The breakfast was very good, and the rooms were quite clean. It's an excellent value especially considering the location. It is close to everything in Como and midway between the two main train stations. The Duomo is 5 minutes in one direction, and the lake is 5 minutes in another […] direction.
