I stayed in the Clarion for 2 nights while in town on business. The hotel is very central and affords lovely views of the city. The staff were pleasant and willing to help. There were only 2 things negatives against the hotel. 1) Parking. Everything was of a brilliant standard and all staff we encountered in the hotel were polite and helpful. We needed to change our dinner reservation from 5 to 6 and there were no issues or hassle about it. The hotel is just beyond the city centre shopping area and a short walk into town (on which I got very wet, twice, so if the skies are grey bring an umbrella). Rooms are what you would expect from a hotel of this standard. River views from the rooms are great. Shower was lovely and strong. A let down is the lack of a hotel car park. It uses a public/flatblock […] car park across the road but charges are extra and its not obvious where to go on arrival. Its also approached through a one-way traffic system. The hotel set down was also regularly occupied by a bus so offloading luggage just outside didn't work either. The area outside the hotel is also a bit run-down and its adjacent to a gated yard/dump. My stay was work related so hotel was conveniently located to the city centre. We stayed at The Clarion for one night only but it was generally a good experience. The hotel design is impressive and the location is superb with views up and down the Shannon River. The rooms were roomy and well laid out. Breakfast was very good and the bar was quiet. All the staff were well-presented and helpful. Two minor complaints: arrangements […] for payment of parking in a neighbouring car park were not very clear. The hotel gave us a ticket on departure which they "validated" - however we were not informed that we should validate the ticket at the car park itself, leaving us embarassed at the exit barrier.
