Pillo Hotel & Spa

Traveling with husband, sister/brother-in-law. Pillo is a very nice hotel, rooms are spacious (we had king sized beds) and clean. The bed was comfortable and sufficient pillows. The exhaust/vent fan in the bathroom did not work. Service in the hotel restaurant was indifferent, almost rude. We sat at a table in the bar area, several servers walked by […] to other tables including one right next to us, without acknowledging our presence or sending over the assigned server. We had to go to the bar to get drinks, had to remind the bar tender to finish pouring pints, of Guinness, had to flag down another server to order food. The pounding started at midnight, and continued until 2:20a.m. That is when I called about the noise. I was told the banquet room next door was being prepped for the following day. Lovely, comfortable hotel. The children's welcome pack/gift was well appreciated. Heavy traffic in the area made it hard to get in and out of the city centre, but overall we enjoyed our stay.

Loved it, Galway is lovely, staff at the pillo hotel are welcoming and friendly. I got the feeling of proper Ireland, I have only ever visited Dublin before. I will definitely be returning to Galway and would. Stay at the pillo again.

Welcoming hotel with all basic comfort needs. Within walking distance of city centre and close to local shopping malls. Our room was above filling station and therefore facing busy road. Booked this hotel for ironman 70.3 Galway at the last minute. It was only a short drive to Salthill where the event was taking place( about 5k.)The hotel staff were friendly and very accommodating ... Even organising breakfast at 5am. The hotel was clean and comfortable with a busy bar/bistro. Enjoyed the stay with no complaints whatsoever.

I stayed in the Pillo wih my wife and two children and we were all very impressed with the hotel. The food was excellent, breakfasts were massive and the staff were really helpful and friendly... Housekeeping were really helpful supplying us with extra pillows and towels (for a day on the beach) and there was free secure underground parking... Pluses: Nice common areas - high quality fit-out. Staff friendly and good service in restaurant in the mornings. Curable Minuses: Room was tired looking, fridge not working 100% and de- clutch button missing from shower temp. control.I assume the plan is to do-up the rooms in the near future to match the standard of the common areas.

We would recommend the hotel to others, but with a warning about noise levels from roof mounted mechanical plant. The mechanicial plant starts at 6am and runs until approx 11pm and can be heard in all courtyard facing rooms. The alternative is a room overlooking one the roads on either side of the hotel. this was a great hotel, very clean with good location to galway city. the only thing that would put me off staying again is the noise in the room of a genarator. it started about 4am in the morning and was not stop until 11pm....
