Very well run family oriented hotel, with wonderful breakfast included. The walk into town is about 2 miles and beautiful, unless it is raining, then the 401 bus is your friend. The river walk in the town is amazing as well.

We stayed at the hotel for a week and used it as a base for touring the region. We did not have a car and did not need one. We took day tours of Connemara and the Burren/Cliffs of Moher and the tour buses picked up at the hotel. The shuttle bus to the Aran Islands stopped right across the street from the hotel, and there was frequent, reliable bus service […] into the city from the stop in front of the hotel. We took a day trip out to Clifden using the bus into the city and the Citi-link bus out to Clifden. The staff at the hotel were particularly helpful. The hotel setting is very appealing. It is right on Galway Bay, as the name suggests, and the promenade along the bay is a real plus. The views across the bay to the Burren hills are wonderful. The food at the hotel was excellent and the room was very comfortable. The Salthill area is quieter than the city, but it was still very convenient. Read more

Great location for peace and quiet. Most guests were a bit older than my wife and I (we're in our fifties)...but that was just fine with us. Would definitely recommend for families with younger children and not recommend for families with teenagers or young people looking for a lively pub scene.

This hotel is not only stunningly gorgeous on the outside, it's surrounded by beauty especially if you luck out with great weather. Be warned, this hotel is a good 45 minute walk to the city center or about a ten to fifteen euro cab ride depending upon your destination point. It's a fantastic walk with scenic views so I loved the walk. An ATM is about […] a fifteen minute walk away. I believe there is a bus stop by the hotel but I did not use the bus. You're across from a beautiful beach for swimming in good weather. My room was very comfortable and quiet. I ate at the bar and also had room service, both meals were very good. The hotel also assisted me in setting up a tour to the Cliffs of Moher and the burren, The tour driver picked up at the hotel so that was very easy. The staff will help you with your tourist needs, it's fantastic. The hotel also offers complimentary wireless. Many hotels will nickle and dime you with hidden fees but I found this hotel did not. The wireless was free. I also had four tshirts cleaned and the cost was around ten euros for all four so that was an excellent price as well. Now, nicer clothes will cost you more, but for my comfy-travel-days-who-cares wear, this was a fantastic deal. Thank you, staff! This hotel really has it all. This hotel looks fine on the outside,but...it reeks of old cigarette smoke, bad food, and cheap disinfectants. I was told that the smoke smell was coming from the outside smokers, but even the halls outside the rooms smelled of smoke. The housekeepers used some strong-smelling disinfectants to clean the rooms. The place was gloomy and the rooms decorated […] like college dorm rooms. About a 3km walk from the pedestrian centre of Galway town, but is there is no rain it's and easy walk. The shower in our room was not working properly, however when we told reception on departure they couldn't have been more accommodating. The manager met us and expressed his sincere apologies and gave us a percentage refund which we were happy about. The shower problem in my own opinion as a builder was that the shower was broke a long time but no one […] managed to tell reception about it. They were genuinely surprised by this. It's just typical of Irish people to walk away and say nothing. How can a hotel improve if they don't get immediate feed back? We enjoyed our stay and would come again. The location is excellent for access to the beach and the lovely Salthill area and is a 10 minute drive to Galway city centre. Lovely hotel in a great location on Salthill's prom right beside the beach and less than 20 minutes walk to the city centre. We stayed in 3 hotels on our Ireland trip - all 4 star. The other 2 were fantastic with flat screen TVs , air con, and tasteful decor. Unfortunately the Galway bay has no air con, big old CRT TVs, the carpets that were probably laid in 1970. The beds are good but the bathroom was showing signs of wear and tear. We arrived at 7.00pm and struggled to […] park as there was a convention taking place. A full blast disco went on until 3.30am ( i don't think in the hotel) but as there is no aircon we had to open the windows so endured thumping music until the early hours. It is a 25 minute walk into the city centre so if you're coming to visit the centre stay somewhere else. As with all Irish hotels the staff are very friendly and the food although not great was OK. My wife ordered fish of the day for breakfast one morning but it never did arrive - I guess they are still trying to catch it. Read more

We stayed overnight at this hotel in June 2011. It is in a lovely location on Galway Bay. The staff were were very friendly and helpful. On a minor note, we found it odd that you had to walk through the car park to the back of the hotel to enter and exit and it was a pity that there isn't good access from the hotel to the terrace facing the Bay.
