"Great for kids"
They have a kid pool and a play room. Great for traveling with kids. Breakfast was really good too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Relaxing, charming village and hotel"
Very well run family oriented hotel, with wonderful breakfast included. The walk into town is about 2 miles and beautiful, unless it is raining, then the 401 bus is your friend. The river walk in the town is amazing as well.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location"
We stayed at the hotel for a week and used it as a base for touring the region. We did not have a car and did not need one. We took day tours of Connemara and the Burren/Cliffs of Moher and the tour buses picked up at the hotel. The shuttle bus to the Aran Islands stopped right across the street from the hotel, and there was frequent, reliable bus service […] into the city from the stop in front of the hotel. We took a day trip out to Clifden using the bus into the city and the Citi-link bus out to Clifden. The staff at the hotel were particularly helpful. The hotel setting is very appealing. It is right on Galway Bay, as the name suggests, and the promenade along the bay is a real plus. The views across the bay to the Burren hills are wonderful. The food at the hotel was excellent and the room was very comfortable. The Salthill area is quieter than the city, but it was still very convenient. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Walk the prominade on the water vs. the hotel!"
Very nice old fashioned hotel in fine shape. Spacious room, big bath in nice bathroom. We did not spring for room facing water. Next time would.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pleasant stay"
Great location for peace and quiet. Most guests were a bit older than my wife and I (we're in our fifties)...but that was just fine with us. Would definitely recommend for families with younger children and not recommend for families with teenagers or young people looking for a lively pub scene.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastic hotel. I couldn't ask for more."
This hotel is not only stunningly gorgeous on the outside, it's surrounded by beauty especially if you luck out with great weather. Be warned, this hotel is a good 45 minute walk to the city center or about a ten to fifteen euro cab ride depending upon your destination point. It's a fantastic walk with scenic views so I loved the walk. An ATM is about […] a fifteen minute walk away. I believe there is a bus stop by the hotel but I did not use the bus. You're across from a beautiful beach for swimming in good weather. My room was very comfortable and quiet. I ate at the bar and also had room service, both meals were very good. The hotel also assisted me in setting up a tour to the Cliffs of Moher and the burren, The tour driver picked up at the hotel so that was very easy. The staff will help you with your tourist needs, it's fantastic. The hotel also offers complimentary wireless. Many hotels will nickle and dime you with hidden fees but I found this hotel did not. The wireless was free. I also had four tshirts cleaned and the cost was around ten euros for all four so that was an excellent price as well. Now, nicer clothes will cost you more, but for my comfy-travel-days-who-cares wear, this was a fantastic deal. Thank you, staff! This hotel really has it all. Great food, VERY friendly people, delicious beverages, an outdoor patio which is divine. A pool that next time I swear I'll use. I am in love with this hotel and WILL come back one day. "Stay if you dare!"
This hotel looks fine on the outside,but...it reeks of old cigarette smoke, bad food, and cheap disinfectants. I was told that the smoke smell was coming from the outside smokers, but even the halls outside the rooms smelled of smoke. The housekeepers used some strong-smelling disinfectants to clean the rooms. The place was gloomy and the rooms decorated […] like college dorm rooms. The hotel also was filled with conventions and the elderly. This was supposed to be a four-star hotel, but seemed to me to only deserve 2 1/2- 3 stars. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Sun goes down on Galway Bay"
Stayed here previously but now the hotel seems to be losing its sparkle.Generally everything was fine but a couple of things let it down badly.......breakfast (full irish) was somewhat cremated and was definitely in the hot trays for some time. The bar food was generally good with a good menu but my main course of sea bass was somewhat miniscule (i've […] seen more fish in a tin of sardines !!) however other courses seemed to be fine.May have been short of fish or just an offday. Our room was spotless, clean and warm and the staff were helpful and did their job well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location as close to town & easy to find."
Cannot honestly think of any fault with the hotel with regards to the service, cleanliness & location or anything else for that matter. Would definately stay at the Galway Bay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautiful hotel with the friendliest staff,"
A lovely hotel with very friendly and accommodating staff. My only complaint would be that the hotel generally - especially the main lounge was always cold. The reason for this is the hotel lobby is immediately situated at the front door which is continually open due to guests going in and out. This is due to the design of the hotel but it doesn't make […] it a comfortable place to sit. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent hotel, great staff and very clean."
Very good experience - helpful and courteous staff, clean and very comfortable, excellent facilities. About a 3km walk from the pedestrian centre of Galway town, but is there is no rain it's and easy walk. Opposite the beach and a great walking promenade so if you don't wish to be near the busy town centre this is an ideal location. A few run buildings […] nearby, but once within the hotel area you don't notice it.lots of older tour groups, so if you a looking for a younger demographic, this is not your ideal location. "Spookie night!"
At night severe wind noise due to an open window in adjoining room, finally resolved by staff at 3.00 am, after staff were notified at 2.00 am. Staff should have known of the possibility of this occurring.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Generally happy"
The shower in our room was not working properly, however when we told reception on departure they couldn't have been more accommodating. The manager met us and expressed his sincere apologies and gave us a percentage refund which we were happy about. The shower problem in my own opinion as a builder was that the shower was broke a long time but no one […] managed to tell reception about it. They were genuinely surprised by this. It's just typical of Irish people to walk away and say nothing. How can a hotel improve if they don't get immediate feed back? We would have absolutely no hesitation in staying in the Galway bay hotel again. It was a small problem which was not their fault. Top class professionals and very friendly staff. "5 thumbs up!!!"
Wow! What an experience! We were actually sad to leave after a 3 day stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff was so helpful and friendly and Keith in the bar was an exceptional person who looked after us and was pleasant and enriched our stay with local history. This hotel is a hidden gem on the Emerald Isle and I have already recommended this to friends […] who are travelling there next month. "Good hotel in great location"
We enjoyed our stay and would come again. The location is excellent for access to the beach and the lovely Salthill area and is a 10 minute drive to Galway city centre. Our room was small and basic but perfectly comfortable and had a view of the bay. The pool is excellent if a bit shallow for my liking. Some minor complaints: there was no wifi in our […] room despite signs around the place that said there was, the breakfast was good by hotel standards but the hot food is all super greasy and kept warm under lights rather than cooked to order and the shower head in our room was very poor. For the price I'd hope to not have such complaints but it wouldn't put me off the hotel, as I've yet to stay anywhere that has gotten everything right. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Galway Bay"
Lovely hotel in a great location on Salthill's prom right beside the beach and less than 20 minutes walk to the city centre. It is also only a couple of minutes from Pearse stadium if your going to a GAA game. The hotel itself is very nice and the rooms are very spacious with all the necessities. P.S be warned they stop serving food at 9 pm so don't […] be caught out, if you are try roberta's italian restaurant 3-4 mins away stays open until 10 and is top class. "the most comfort stay in Galway Ireland"
I highly recomend this hotel resort. the location is stunnig and the hotel is clean, comfort and food is realy tasty. the beds are huge for the Europe style and bathroom is very clean and colors are pleasent. I wish the tub was not so deep since i am a short person it was difficult to reach the shower head and stepping in and out of the tub. I wish […] they had the safe in the room but it was ok for 1 night. too bad the weather was extrimly windy and rain and we could not enjoy the beach. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Dated"
We stayed in 3 hotels on our Ireland trip - all 4 star. The other 2 were fantastic with flat screen TVs , air con, and tasteful decor. Unfortunately the Galway bay has no air con, big old CRT TVs, the carpets that were probably laid in 1970. The beds are good but the bathroom was showing signs of wear and tear. We arrived at 7.00pm and struggled to […] park as there was a convention taking place. A full blast disco went on until 3.30am ( i don't think in the hotel) but as there is no aircon we had to open the windows so endured thumping music until the early hours. It is a 25 minute walk into the city centre so if you're coming to visit the centre stay somewhere else. As with all Irish hotels the staff are very friendly and the food although not great was OK. My wife ordered fish of the day for breakfast one morning but it never did arrive - I guess they are still trying to catch it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Overnight stay"
We stayed overnight at this hotel in June 2011. It is in a lovely location on Galway Bay. The staff were were very friendly and helpful. On a minor note, we found it odd that you had to walk through the car park to the back of the hotel to enter and exit and it was a pity that there isn't good access from the hotel to the terrace facing the Bay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
