This hotel ranks at the top of our stays throughout Ireland - in large part due to the wonderful, friendly, and helpful staff. The location is just across the river from the castle and in the old town center with shops and pubs and sights well in walking distance. Also, a short walk away is a shopping mall for any mid-trip necessities hidden away in […] a renovated area by the train station. Parking, always important with the necessary rental car in Ireland, is plentiful to the south of the property (just follow the narrow drive down the east side of the hotel if the front area is full.) We recently stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in early October and had a fantastic time there. The room was very spacious, clean and right in the heart of Kilkenny close to the castle. I stayed in this hotel for just one night recently. It is a lovely hotel. The decor is a bit dated and the rooms definitely need upgrading but was very clean. My only problem with this hotel was noise. The house keeping staff were knocking on the door at 8am and then continued to make a lot of noise outside the door all morning. You could't ask for a better location for this hotel, smack in the middle of Kilkenny, close to all bars, shops and restaurants! I would recommend this. The rooms are lovely. The temperature of the shower was a little temperamental but overall the bathroom was nice.
