The hotel had two weddings going on during our stay. The guests were rather noisy very late into the night. The doors in the hotel banged shut all night long. Great place, great location overlooking Kilkenny Castle. Be sure to enjoy a cocktail or meal on the terrace. Plenty of food at breakfast. Staff was very pleasant.

We spent three nights at this hotel and overall it was just OK, but there were some major issues. First, we had an issue with our security lock not working. The manager initially suggested that two women should feel secure in the location, even with no lock. After some convincing, they switched the room. Its an old location, which I understand. Its […] been renovated fairly nicely, but there is sloppy work all around. For example, improperly drilled holes in a tile in the bathroom for a fixture, with the old cut marks and holes visible. For the price of this hotel, I would expect more craftsmanship. The biggest problem though is parking. Its atrocious. We had a mid size car and just pulling into the gates (wall on both sides), requires being very careful and going slow. Not easy when pulling off the main busy street in Kilkenny with everyone on your rear. Then you take a ticket to raise the gate. Despite the cost of the hotel, you pay to park there! The next morning, I tried to leave and forgot my ticket and the exit gate wouldn't let me out, so my mother went upstairs to get the ticket. Meanwhile I am stuck in this tiny cramped lot and can't move out of the way of those behind me. Then the ticket wouldn't open the exit gate. I had to go back in and get the ticket validated before it would work to exit. NONE of this was explained on check in. This whole process meant just getting out on our first morning was an extra 15 minutes, also delaying those behind us. Overall service was spotty, we had a nice porter, but a couple of the desk personnel seemed upset to be bothered. The average service, renovation issues and parking nightmare means I will never go back. Read more

Kilkenny River Court Hotel was fabulous! Right in the heart of everything. Kilkenny Castle was right outside our window. Would recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to Kilkenny, Ireland.

The lovely shopping area of Kilkenny is within a two minute walking distance which was highly advantageous as my mother has mobility problems. Almost everything wonderful. BUT didn't think we should pay for parking. €5 very little but it's just the general idea of it. Secondly heat in room was excessive, difficult to sleep, no air conditioning.

Weather not great, however hotel was lovely. The staff were the nicest I have ever come accross. Leisure centre really nice and Marcus who looked after this end was very pleasant. Despite outside temperatures of around 50 degrees, and the fact that no heat was on in the room, the room was so hot that I had trouble sleeping the first night. After I left both windows open all the 2nd day, the room was merely warm the 2nd night, but ok. Otherwise a nice hotel
