"Convenient Location but noisy"
The hotel had two weddings going on during our stay. The guests were rather noisy very late into the night. The doors in the hotel banged shut all night long. The staff seemed less friendly than other hotels in Ireland maybe because they were so busy. The location of the hotel was good. Very convenient. You could walk to everything. But no AC in the […] rooms so it got a little stuffy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Looks better than it is"
We spent three nights at this hotel and overall it was just OK, but there were some major issues. First, we had an issue with our security lock not working. The manager initially suggested that two women should feel secure in the location, even with no lock. After some convincing, they switched the room. Its an old location, which I understand. Its […] been renovated fairly nicely, but there is sloppy work all around. For example, improperly drilled holes in a tile in the bathroom for a fixture, with the old cut marks and holes visible. For the price of this hotel, I would expect more craftsmanship. The biggest problem though is parking. Its atrocious. We had a mid size car and just pulling into the gates (wall on both sides), requires being very careful and going slow. Not easy when pulling off the main busy street in Kilkenny with everyone on your rear. Then you take a ticket to raise the gate. Despite the cost of the hotel, you pay to park there! The next morning, I tried to leave and forgot my ticket and the exit gate wouldn't let me out, so my mother went upstairs to get the ticket. Meanwhile I am stuck in this tiny cramped lot and can't move out of the way of those behind me. Then the ticket wouldn't open the exit gate. I had to go back in and get the ticket validated before it would work to exit. NONE of this was explained on check in. This whole process meant just getting out on our first morning was an extra 15 minutes, also delaying those behind us. Overall service was spotty, we had a nice porter, but a couple of the desk personnel seemed upset to be bothered. The average service, renovation issues and parking nightmare means I will never go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overpriced and overrated (should be 3 Star) -- would look elsewhere"
We arrived in peak season (summer arts festival) and paid top dollar for a hotel room that at best deserves a 3 star rating. The first room we were shown had a view of the parking lot and was a smokers room, even though we booked non-smoking. They switched rooms for us when we pointed this out and we were offered a room with a view of the river and […] castle The hotel is in a great location The issue is that the hotel is in need of renovation. The furniture in our room had clearly seen much better days. The public spaces as well were not in particularly good condition and clearly not at a 4 star level I travel extensively around the world for business and pleasure (about 75 hotel nights per year) and was disappointed in this hotel. I stayed in a beautiful hotel in Dublin two days later where 4 Star really meant 4 Star, and the price offered appropriate value for money Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Rivercourt hotel"
The hotel is off the street so less noisy and very comfortable country-style hotel with a riverside section. No disturbances in the building either but I did wear earplugs. Room was very clean and comfortable although the shower was poor and the disabled toilet was not clean. Very close to everything including the train station. There is a great Italian […] across the street called Little Italy and the castle is close by for walking on a sunny morning. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location, dated room"
Whle the location was perfect, the room felt quite old and distressed. We were expecting more for this hotel based on the reviews we researched. However, the breakfast buffet was excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dated but convenient"
Not for the young but more for the old. Internet in room doesn't work unless you are prepared to be standing in the hall way. Thin walls and dingy carpets. Decor is not 21st century. All see better days.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I think that a hotel that in incapable of serving a guest with 2 slices of toast within 15 minutes after they started their breakfast late, is not one that should be catering to business travellers. Good location, relatively unsafe way into the hotel from the road though given that there is no separate are for pedestrians and cars and it is quite narrow. […] Early finish for a restaurant and leisure centre as well I thought. Probably great for those who are not business travellers with limited time in the morning and arrive back late in evening. "Close to all amenities."
We had a lovely few days in Kilkenny, the hotel was fine, I do have to say that the heat of the room made it very uncomfortable. This was with the radiator turned off. Had to leave windows open all night in order to try and get some air to circulate.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"River Court"
I stayed in this hotel for just one night recently. It is a lovely hotel. The decor is a bit dated and the rooms definitely need upgrading but was very clean. My only problem with this hotel was noise. The house keeping staff were knocking on the door at 8am and then continued to make a lot of noise outside the door all morning. Not great if you are […] looking for a bit of a lie in. They made a right good clamber of noise. I'm sure there are other hotels in Kilkenny that have just as nice rooms cheaper. "Hotel very central"
Beautiful hotel - however if you want to read in your room - not possible as very bad lighting even if you move to chair under lightshade - also walls very thin as could hear a lot from the next room. Only visited the bar for a light meal - wasnt happy with the food and had very little choice - dont know waht the restaurant is like so cannot comment […] but I was there on my own for a business trip and was still hungrey when I left the Bar. "Kilkenny River Court Hotel"
I have stayed 4 times now at this hotel. Without exception the staff are pleasant and efficient. The room sizes are good, well fitted bathrooms, location is good. BUT There is a problem. Downstairs rooms have walls made from cardboard. Everything and I mean everything can be heard from the neighbouring rooms. Upstairs the doors do not fit properly, […] as a result external noise is apparent. Add to this a heating system that when starting up sounds like a heavy foundry at work.. They have to sort these issues, then the hotel will be perfect. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
