"Great location, pretty good hotel"
I stayed here one night and would probably stay again if there weren't more interesting options. The first room I was first given smelled of cigarette smoke, but after complaining I was quickly switched to another room that smelled fresh. Rooms with plenty of space, beds and bathrrom/towels very clean. Every day they change towels. Wi-fi and LAN internet at normal pricing. 10 min away from Grafton street (Dublin centre), 2 blocks away from Trinity College and other must-sightseeing places. I enjoyed staying at the Davenport with my husband and young daughter (2). My only complaint is that it is a little farther than I would have liked from the main pedestrian zone, which would have been fine for most people, but was a little more challenging with a toddler. "O'Callaghan Davenport and the Internet era ..."
OK, paying for access is always a tolerable disappointment, but having restricted up/download quotas is ridiculous. Especially if you only get 1MB dl even if you pay for 24 hours of access. You can get unlimited access, you then pay €15 for 48 hours. It does not stop there: You'll only able to use one device at one time. So if you and your spouse […] have a Smartphone and a PC each you have to work both you and the devices in shifts ... For safe measure the connection is taken down if you take a small break. It does not seem that it's checked wether the machine is busy downloading for instance. Ironic part: Go to a pub and it's not unlikely that you'll find free, fast and stable WiFi access. "Clean, comfortable and well priced."
A pleasant stay in a very nice hotel with only a few drawbacks. On checkin the staff were great and the general ambiance very nice. The hotel room was very clean and had everything I needed. Even the shower was good. Just a few negative points. The door seemed to have been 'jemmied' open at some stage and the door frame was still damaged. It seemed […] to be just my door though. There was noise that came through the ceiling from the plant above me (I was on the top floor). I only heard it at night. This could be bad for some. I found the hotel a little soulless. I'm not sure why, it could be that the only hotel staff I ever saw were at the desk. I'm not sure. I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, choosing rather to go out.
