Stayed here a number of times both on business and pleasure. Staff have always been courteous. Free ample parking. Rooms large and comfortable. All in all a very nice place and good value, friendly people and I was lucky to get a very large double room, could have slept 6! Not brand new but then that gives it more of a traditional feel. This is a nice hotel but it is in need of refurbishment and modernisation. Clean and warm and the staff were all great. Good value as well. "A grand old lady in need of some T.L.C"
The hotel is high on the hill to the north of the city and if you have a front facing room the veiw over Cork is worth it. Most rooms don't benifit from this. The walk into town is'nt far and all down hill, its the return that may chalange some.The hotel its self, has a grand feel but has seen better days. The staff were lovely and it is a beautiful old house however it is ruined by the overpowering smell of stale cooking that hits you the minute you enter the lobbey and it permeates the stairs and hallways. Had a lovely stay at the Ambassador Hotel, fantastic location, especially if you want to exercise those calf muscles, great views over Cork city and only a 10 minute walk into town. The hotel was about 5/10 mins walk from Cork town centre with rather a steep climb up. I was given a room on the top floor which was overlooking the town. Being rather high up it had a cracking view of the city below. I discovered my shower wasn't working so mentioned it at the desk before i went into have dinner and it was sorted by the time i got back.
