"GREAT PEOPLE AND A GREAT PLACE TO STAY"

"Amazing value"
The price-to-quality ratio at this hotel was insane, by far the nicest place I've ever stayed at anywhere close to the price we paid. The location was a little outside the city center, but not a long walk, and as it's up atop a hill you get some nice views out over the city. We had a great time in Cork in general, found it to be a very nice town, but […] our opinion was based in no small part on the great value we got out of this wonderful hotel. The room might be the largest hotel room I've ever stayed in, with two large, comfortable beds and our own balcony. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we were able to leave our car in the parking lot for a few hours after we checked out while we explored the city a little more. Would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Awesome hotel. Super clean. Large room. Helpful, friendly staff. Great food, nicely decorated. April at the front desk was great. Suggestion: Alarm clock. Hotel is on a huge steep hill. Not an easy walk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lovely old hotel"
We like to walk, so the location (up a long hill from the city center) was fine for us, but might not be for others. We liked the atmosphere of the old hotel. It was spacious and well decorated, with the modern amenities in the room and bath that everyone likes. The food at breakfast was generous and very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Pleasant"
We have nothing bad to say about our stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and assisted us with our tourist plans. We were also suggested a great pub, Oliver Plunkett, that had great live music on a Tuesday night. The hotel is older and there's a few creaking sounds, but overall it was a pleasant stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"3 Nights in Cork"
The Ambassador was extremely comfortable and in a very convenient location to all the city sites. The room was comfortable and warm and the amenities were up-to-date, clean, and very European. I would definitely stay here again. The directions on-line need to be improved, however.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Couldn't believe our luck to book here."
We had to cancel one of our hotels because we hadn't gotten as far in our journey as expected and expedia found us this at the last minute. It ended up being the nicest hotel we stayed in for our entire trip, including Ashford Castle. The evening desk clerk was extremely helpful. We really couldn't believe our luck to get this room. Great location. […] Would definitely recommend to any one staying in the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Ambassador Hotel. Cork."
Stayed here a number of times both on business and pleasure. Staff have always been courteous. Free ample parking. Rooms large and comfortable. Only negative would be taxi ride down to city centre but reception will organise. Taxi is 7euro. Never had breakfast but bar food is good. I will be back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The ambassador hotel"
This hotel and its staff are excellent from the time i arrived at the hotel the staff went out of there way to help even on my early arrival the had a room ready for mealso that evening i wanted to see a football game on the television and the staff opened the main bar so i could see it i will recomend this hotel because of the way they looked after […] me the only downside is its a bit of a walk to the city and on your way back there is a steep hill to climb other than that i can't fault the hotel or staff Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good hotel on a beautiful building"
The hotel is located on a hill overlooking the city. The building itself is a beauty inside and outside. Each floor is separated from the stairs by a wood and glass divider. The stairs were decorated with big paintings with golden frames. Our room had long windows and from there we had a view of the city. The bathroom was very clean and had beautiful […] and shiny tiles. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food was good as well as the service. The girl at the from desk was very helpful. The hotel was a little bit difficult to find. We printed Google directions coming from the east and they took as through very narrow streets were we couldn't even read the signs (it was already dark). It was a real nightmare! Fortunately, we also had printed a map of the location. After we found St. Patrick's Quay it was easy to get to the hotel from there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Lovely hotel, great room, good service,"
This is a lovely place to stay -- it only has one problem, and that is that it is a steep uphill walk from the lively streets of Cork. If you're up for that, I would recommend it highly.Genuine Expedia guest review

"My expectations were met!"
For the money, I would have to say we found a winner. My son and I stayed two nights and had absolutely no complaints. I am certainly glad we had a GPS to find our way across Cork City from the airport. Having the GPS reduced the importance of having staff that are attentive and patient which I considered important when I was reading hotel reviews before […] booking our stay (without a GPS at that point I was worried about navigating on my own in a country where they drive on the left) . The neighborhood was quiet (good for sleeping with the windows open and catching a very nice July breeze ). The gym was bright and not too small and it contained a reasonable assortment of (yay, working) aerobic equipment and a multi-station gym. We enjoyed the contiental breakfasts and had a very pleasant time eating in the bar one evening. The young bar man was an excellent, friendly host. While most of the sights were a relatively long walk down the hill into town. There is nice local pub just down and to the left of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel was great! We had a view of the city from up high so that was amazing! Unfortunately, I can't comment on the convenience of the location since we had a car, but overall it was a great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Large and open hotel, with nice rooms and comfy"
All in all a very nice place and good value, friendly people and I was lucky to get a very large double room, could have slept 6! Not brand new but then that gives it more of a traditional feel. Just need to get a decent flat screen TV in the room, would very much stay again for the moneyGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Ambassador Hotel, my favourite hotel in Cork city"
This was my 2nd stay in this hotel in the last 5 weeks, and l would highly recommend it to anyone. The hotel is in a perfect location for a visit to Cork city, it is a 10 minute walk to the shopping centre of Cork, yet it is in the beautiful village athmosphere of st Lukes Cross. The hotel is a beautiful old building with lots of period features, it […] is spotlessley clean and warm, which l was very greatfull for in the cold weather of December and January. The staff are very friendly and helpfull and couldnt make you feel more welcome. The food in the restraunt is excellent and very good value for money. l could not ask for more from a hotel and it made my visits to Cork City very enjoyable. l plan to visit Cork City regularly and would not dream of staying at any other hotel other than the Ambassador. "Lovely Hotel"
Tried to book a superior room before we went but no availability. On arrival were upgraded to a superior room (cancellation) that had a balcony overlooking Cork City. Full Irish Breakfast a (waist busting) pleasure. Plenty of alternatives. Nothing too much trouble for the staff - and the receptionist(s) remembered us from our stay in 2011. Easy to […] walk down(hill) to Cork City. Best to taxi back after a good meal! Bar prices very reasonable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Lovely hotel overlooking Cork"
The Ambassador is a lovely, old-style hotel overlooking Cork. It's about a 20 minute walk into the centre of town, but the location on the hill means it has great views. The rooms are large, very warm (although you can regulate your own temperature which is great) and the beds were really comfortable. The breakfast was extremely generous and well-worth […] adding as an extra on the bill. The staff were very helpful, giving us walking and driving directions, and the brown tourist signs directing us to the hotel were extremely useful in navigating our way there late at night. I'd definitely recommend this hotel - it's excellent value. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
