Staff wasn't as friendly as we encountered throughout the rest of Ireland. We chose Cork as it was convenient for touristy day trips -- but it is a tired looking and rather depressing city. Have stayed here several times, right from the time it opened. It is now a bit rough around the edges. Tile was broken in the bathroom, and most of the floor grouting was missing, stains on the inside bathroom door, hairs on the floor.But a great location, got an internal room as requested. This hotel is in a great location overlooking the river and within easy walking distance of all of Cork City's attractions. Facilities are excellent - though for some reason the residents' bar was not opened during our stay. This meant that the only bar was the the one that is part of the ground floor restaurant which is used by non-residents, so it […] was full and pretty lively on Friday and Saturday night. The room was spacious and we enjoyred a great view across the river - we asked for this in advance and it was worth doing as a number of rooms face into the central area of the hotel so presumably have no natural light. Staff were very helpful and arranged a delayed check out for us to accommodate our return flight time. We were probably unfortunate that on Saturday night there were a number of guests who didn't get to their rooms til 4 a.m. and were pretty noisy for some time after that. I really liked this hotel. The bar, restaurant, room service and housekeeping staff were fantastic. My only irritation was with one of the reception girls but the rest of the reception staff were professional, friendly and very helpful. Stayed at the Clarion for 2 nights in Jan. 2012. The hotel is very central, has good parking underneath the hotel (you can come and go easily with your car and price remains the same per day. You need to have your ticket validated at reception .We got room service one evening which was good. Internet in the room was free and the best I have seen in […] a hotel. We were in room 302. The hotel is two minutes from all shopping which is great in Cork. It is also next to the bus station. They have a few options for food in the lobby, and the bar is very comfortable. On the downside-the room's telephone is very expensive to use as is the mini bar. We called reception a couple of times but they did not answer. All in all though, great hotel. Will stay again. Convenient for city centre. Nice breakfast, fried and continental. Free Wifi is a welcome bonus!!!! Nice pool and gym. Late serving residents bar. Some nice pubs very nearby, across the bridge, Charlies and The Sextant. Will stay here agin next time in Cork.

stayed 1 night Got a good Rate excluding breakfast. Had a special deal on breakfast for , which i thought was reasonable for a good buffet breakfast as I had heard the rate was 50% higher. Rooms were good size with a double and single bed. Only one small carp - the eiderdown was very heavy so was too warm in bed.

Pros: Excellent conditions in bedroom. Decent and supportive staff. Great foods. Spacious hotel. Cons: No special alarm devices for those who cannot hear. Also, it would be an issue for them over fire escape.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Clarion in a family room. Requested a room on a higher floor with a view of the River Lee and this was well worth it. The room was spacious and generally clean although the bathroom could be improved upon. We did find the hotel restaurants and Cork in general quite pricey and therefore found the M&S Food Hall […] in Merchants Quay a blessing! However the pool is fantastic for both adults and children and the leisure area staff were particularly helpful offering advice, swimming hats, towels and complimentary fruit! The location of this hotel is probably the best Cork offers, right on the river bank, extremely handy for the bus station,endless shops and just a 10 to 15 minute walk to the station. We did make the mistake of not booking a Cork Sea Safari trip prior to our arrival. To my amazement the hotel staff seemed unaware that this company both existed and offered rib rides which departed from the jetty outside of the hotel. Unfortunately, when we did contact Cork Sea Safari all trips were fully booked with cruise ship passengers. My advice is do your homework and book all excursions yourself before you go and just take a chance with the weather. Read more

Good overall cleanliness. Augustines restaurant excellent. Kudos disappointing. Room was located opposite atrium and was very noisy on the Saturday night. Piano was being played after 1.00 a.m. Breakfast was chaotic on the saturday morning. Uncleared tables. Choice was o.k. Better on Sunday.Generally good though overall.
