"SOAK IN THE POOL, GET SOAKED EVERYWHERE ELSE"
An all-star hotel. You get what you pay for. Then after you get what you pay for, they nickel-and-dime you for every thing they can think of: $12 for breakfast - free at comparable hotels; $12/day for internet use - free at comparable hotels; $20 for them to arrange a ride to/from the nearby shopping area -- the cost is $6 if you go outside the gate […] and get your own car, or 10 cents if you go to the end of the block and take the bus. They even charge to use the billiard table prominently displayed near the lobby area. That's why nobody used it. There is a world-class seafood restaurant -- Morisco; a highly competent general restaurant with a deep menu including Goan specialties; and an Italian restaurant where the food is better than good, but the interior ambience is like eating in a large discount department store -- bright lights, loud Muzak -- even when there is a live performance going on outdoors that you can hear as well, and waiters who don't have a clue what you are talking about. I spent my 30th birthday at Vivanta by Taj in Fort Aguada, Goa. It was the most memorable hotel experience of my life. The day of my birthday, I was left speechless upon coming back to my room at the end of the day. Very good experience overall. Only point of pain is that for soft drink they hotel charges 20% tax??? Lovely staff and service is excellent. They cant do enough for you. The gardens and pool area are lovely. Food also was a very high standard in the hotel restaurants that we used. What a experience, we had a family trip, you can expect bottle being sterilized, every time we went out our room was cleaned. The restaurants has a nice view of the sea and its a nice place to relax. I had first been to Fort Aguada for a company offsite in Feb 2010 and was so 'wowed', that I decided to go back again. IThe next time (Nov 2010), it was a family vacation. The first time, I stayed in one of the cottages which afford a spectacular view along with a well-appointed room. I would highly recommend this if your budget permits. On my second […] visit (personal trip) I stayed in a garden-facing room. While we didn't have a view of the sea, it provided easy access of the swimming pool and coffee shop. Given that we were travelleing with our kids (Daughter of 3 years and son of 5 months respectively), the hotel took very good care of our needs such as an additional cot, heating milk from our carton on demand etc...It is a child-friendly resort and would higly recommend Fort Aguada to anyone travelling with family.
