We had a wonderful three day stay at this hotel at the beginning of our two week trip through eastern Europe. Service was excellent and room was very comfortable and clean. I want to give them kudos for allowing us to store our luggage there on our return to Budapest before flying home even though we did not have a reservation for that night. Hotel was very outdated for an Intercontinental. Bar staff was rude and very, very slow. Be VERY aware that at check out ANYTHING charged to your room or hotel has a 27% tourest tax that you are not told about at check in. You have to pay $20 a day if you want wifi (plus add 27% tourest tax of course). My wife and son had breakfast on a Tuesday morning […] (3) people no alcoholic drinks and our bill for breakfast was $110 (plus let's not forget the 27% tourest tax + tip). The location is superb; the double room was small with twin beds that were comfortable, if on the small side. There was inadequate storage space for 2 people staying for 5 days. However, I don't recall ever staying in such a quiet room. My main complaint is the price of food and incidentals. A buffet breakfast for 2, at which the coffee was tepid, the porridge lukewarm and the omelets rubbery cost $74 and 1 telephone call to a local hotel where a friend was staying cost $26. No problems .. One caution! Avoid the "hotel's own taxis" and ask for a standard City Taxi. The hotel's taxis charge MORE THAN TWICE the amount charged by the standard city taxis.

Great location - close to restaurants and the main shopping street (Vaci Utca) and within walking distance to most touristic sights. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean with nice amenities. It did feel a bit stuffy though. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. The internet connection was expensive. No free wi-fi in the lobby.

The staff went out of their way to be helpful. For example, when I arrived before check-in time, instead of making me wait for my room to become available, they found another room because they noticed that I used a wheelchair. I didn't have to ask for special treatment.

Every time I travel to Budapest I stay at the Intercontinental! I highly recommend the superior room with a castle view....it's absolutely beautiful. The hotel is clean and fresh. The hotel and its surroundings are ina totally contrived environment that could just as easily be in New York or Atlntic City. The view across the Danube (particularly at night) is a reason to visit in itself! The staff and amenities are impressive. Very professional and approachable. The room was very comfortable and there was no noise (to speak of) from the street and river below. The location of the hotel is superb to use a base for sightseeing. It's only a short walk across […] the Chain Bridge and up the little funicular car to the Fisherman's Bastion area which gives great views over the city. The food services at the hotel were a little too "trendy" for my particular taste, but I wasn't put off by it or anything. Good food but be aware that anything marked with a little "snail" cartoon will take a long time to prepare. Make sure to let the waiter know to time it so all the people in your party get served about the same time or else some will be finished before others have gotten served. Staff was excellent. Food was good but we wished for a little more of a Hungarian menu. Bar and atmoshphere were great for rest after touring the city. Spa was excellent and the prices were great. We did two couples massages while we were they. Only negative was the rooms were not very soundproof. I stayed three nights at this magnificent hotel in February. I booked a room with the river view and request higher floors if available. The view of the castle district and the chain bridge from my room at 8th floor was just amazing! The room was pretty spacy with two double beds and shawer with wide and deep tab. It's a beautiful hotel, practically in the center of Budapest. Most of the important landmarks are in walking distance from the hotel. Staff speaks great English and is extremely courteous and helpful. The place has character and a certain grandeur which you will not find it any more in the new modern hotels.
