"Not that bad"
The staff was friendly, though they do not speak English that well; I had to draw a picture of what was wrong with my room in order for one of the receptionists to understand. The location is great; close to the Mongkok MTR station. If you are traveling straight to the hotel from the airport, make sure you have landmarks and such to help the cab driver […] know where it is because mine didn't and dropped me off at the wrong place! The only things I did not like about the place is 1)the wifi was spotting depending on which floor you were on. I was originally on 8, and it was fine. But when I moved to 6, I had to use the 5th floor wifi and the 7F wifi was spotty as well. 2) on 6F, whenever someone used the bathroom upstairs, I could hear the pipes. 3) The other guests were too loud at some points, but the front desk was of no help because they didn't understand what I was trying to say. Also, the staff that was in charge of cleaning the rooms would often leave their walkie-talkies on early in the morning (around 7 am) so I could hear the loud conversation going on. "Hotel MK, small, functional, but helpful."
As other travellers have noted, rooms in this "hotel" is the smallest I've ever seen. I thought I was prepared, but it's still surprising how small it is. Location is great. Price is right. I would say accomodation met expectation. On the other hand, I have an excellent experience with the management and staff. I had problem with the wireless network […] on the day I check in. Next thing I know, they put their IT guys to work for an hour. Reseting router and changing setting to accomodate my very old laptop. When all else failed, their manager jump in and tried a few other tricks. In the end, they move me to a different floor where another router is compatible with my laptop. The hotel is a good value for what is offers. Its a basic clean albeit slightly drab hotel without any amenities in need of a renovation in a convenient location. My room was a single room that was about 7" x 7" with a bathroom slightly larger than 3" x 7 feet. There was not even room for a chair or a table. The hotel did not offer international cable. […] The stations appeared to be off-the-air local TV stations with sporadic English language programming. If I needed a cheap hotel for a quick trip into HK, I may stay there again. "Surprise gem"
I was on my own. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I was surprised at the smallness of the room/cupboard but managed to do everything using all of the floor area to spread out. "Small rooms but great area"
It's in the middle of Mong Kok, near the MTR station with the same name (2/3 minutes to walk). The area is really busy with a lot of shops and shopping centers. Also the night market is really close. "Cheap, no frills, but everything you expect"
Apropos to the two negative reviews here, I found this hotel to be quite pleasant, if not a little small. Remember, this is Hong Kong, and if you want a little luxury, then go to Langham Place down the road and pay 5 times the price. I did get a little shocked at the size of the room when I first entered, but once I got settled in, it was fine. Suitcases […] fit underneath the bed. The room I got was for one person only, you wouldnt be able to have any guests over. The elevators aren't literally outside, they are accessed via a security door, which they give you a swipe card to access. My room was generally very clean. Again, being in Mongkok, one of the busiest areas, you cant expect the windows to be sound proof with the price you are paying. Bathroom was also very clean. The whole room did serve as the shower stall, however this is typical of how some residences are in Hong Kong, so if you are unfamiliar with this then you might find it a little strange. Only problem I had was running out of hot water, as the hot water tank only held so much hot water at a time. Free internet wifi served its purpose. It was very slow at times, but then fast at other times. Its not hard to find free wifi hotspots around Hong Kong anyway. As I went to Hong Kong by myself for this trip, I chose the cheapest hotel I could find. Hotel MK served its purpose, as I was just using it as a place to sleep. "Cheap and good location"
Hotel MK is located between Yau Ma Tee and Mong Kok MTR, very convenience to either MTR. There is a bus to airport right outside the hotel.
