The room was extremely small but clean. The hotel has six floors, each of which has more than a dozen rooms, but there's only one lift in the whole hotel, which leads to long waiting times sometimes. And the lift only works after placing the room key into a slot, which is strange enough. The location is extremely convenient though, with its proximity […] to the Underground station and Brussels North Railway station, which provides fast and easy access to and from the main airport of the city. Very clean and comfortable hotel. Maybe a little dated but really counts in my mind is being clean and it was. Also great location. Just one block to M ( subway station) 2 blocks from RR Station. Felt safe in area. Would go back again. Just keep in mind your in Europe the hotel rooms and baths are much smaller that what you may be use to in the US

Centrally Located in Brussels Nord with easy access to other towns in Belgium. Walking distance to the train station and many restaurants. 10 minutes from the square and main tourist destinations. Staff was very helpful in printing receipts and confirmations. Maid service was standard.

Very convenient to hop on/off the underground streetcar lines to get around the city. The local neigborhood does not have much to offer and the streets are underconstruction (Feb/2011). i chose this hotel at last minute and was lucky to get some long-stay promotion. it has unbeatable location, 5-10 minute walk from the north railway station (Brussels Noord), depending on if you carry luggage or not. Walking distance to grand plaza (15 minute) or even walkable to Sablon (45 minute with window shopping). The Rogier metro is steps away, […] so is the City2 shopping mall, with Carrefour. Sheraton, Hilton and Crown Plaza are neighboring hotels. Quite safe. The room facilities are a bit old but you can borrow hair dryer or ask for hot water at front desk (they dont provide kettle in the room). Staff were very helpful, room was clean and comfortable. Location: very near a major tram/metro stop (Rogier), and city centre (Grand Place) was about 10-15 minutes easy walk. Useful shopping mall (City2) very near.

The hotel is located in the close proximity of some of EU buildings, just opposite the street from Crown Plaza hotel and Coven Garden building. It does not live up to the name: it's a dusted place in a dirty and dusted corner of Rogier square. But I could say the same about Crown Plaza hotel. The best feature of this hotel is its excellent location. It is 3 minutes walk to the Gare Du Nord Rail Station, also 10 minutes to the Grand Place besides being situated close to the main shopping street. In an area (Rogier) containing many top name hotels, the Colonies is tucked away in a back street almost next door to the metro station. But it's a nicely appointed hotel, with good decor (if fading a little - liked the fountain though), a nice bar (only opens 6-11pm though) and an excellent breakfast room & spread. The room itself (single) was small […] but fine and very clean. Small bathroom/shower OK, TV with 40 channels (only 2 English). Staff professional and personable. We chose it as we were travelling on the Eurostar early next day, which is fine as the metro line runs directly Rogier to Bruxelles Midi. A few slightly dodgy looking stripclubs in the main road, but nothing too grim. About a 10-15 min walk to the Grand Place. Plenty of bars within walking distance. Enjoyed the stay. Read more

Kan så absolutt anbefale dette hotellet. Ligger veldig bra til. Inngang fra en sidegate og veldig stille.Så omtrent ingen i gangene, så overraskelsen var stor til frokost. Mycket centralt hotell. 15 min med tåg från flygplatsen till tågstation Nord. 5 min promenad från stationen till hotellet sedan endast 5 minuter för att komma till huvudshoppinggatan. Mycket prisvärt och helt OK frukost. Kommer definitivt att boka detta igen om vi kommer åter till Bryssel!

C'est la 3e fois que je viens à cet hôtel. Je l'ai choisi pour sa proximité du lieu des réunions pour lesquelles je viens à Bruxelles. J'apprécie son bon confort pour un prix modéré. Cette fois j'ai eu une chambre plus petite que les deux dernières fois, donnant sur la rue des Colonies et non sur la cour, et avec une douche au lieu d'une baignoire, […] et je n'ai pas pu loger là 2 nuits consécutives, faute de place. Hotel des Colonies er et udmærket hotel. Hotellet ligger praktisk og bekvemt - gåafstand til Bruxelles gamle centrum. Hyggelig vestibule og frokoststue. Værelset var enkelt men rent og badeværelset var helt nyrenoveret. Personalet var enormt venlige og hjælpsomme. Hotel med god atmosfære
