Brussels’ smallest district, Saint-Josse-ten-Noode lies north-east of the city centre, near the Botanic Gardens and the Gare du Nord. It’s a lively, densely populated neighbourhood of North African and Turkish communities with lots of young people. Fruit stalls and ethnic restaurants provide plenty of local colour. Cultural happenings take place in La Botanique, an arts centre set in a 19th-century greenhouse.

Stayed for 5 nights whilst working for the EC at Covent Garden - as such the location is perfect. The hotel room I stayed in was of a good size with a great view though rather basic and dated. Had to have a bath each morning as there was no hook for the shower-head. I didn't take breakfast in the hotel as there are a couple of options close-by. "Clean, spacious, friendly staff, but no Internet"
I stayed for a week due to a business trip. The room was clean and spacious and was serviced daily. The staff is friendly. I arrived early on a Sunday and had emailed ahead asking if it was possible to get the room before official check in time. I never got a response but the room was ready when I got there around 10am. There are a few breakfast options […] close by if you don't want to pay 15eur extra for breakfast. However, be aware that there is no safe in the rooms. What annoyed me was that the Internet did not work in my room (5th floor). I had specifically chosen this hotel over others in this cost bracket due to the free wifi, but that really only works when sitting in the lobby, which was extremely inconvenient. "Fine if you are on business and just need a base."
The hotel is a bit tired but the staff were very pleasant and helpful. On the first night I was allocated a room that had three beds (one of which blocked the only cupboard where you could hang clothes) and displayed no information about emergency exits/fire procedures. The switch between water to the bath and shower was also stuck. However, when I […] mentioned this to the duty manager the next morning he came to look at the problems immediately, apologised and moved me to another better room straight away. The breakfast was perfectly adequate for something that is included within the price. The only UK channel you could get on the TV was BBC 1 but this was not a problem as I was out and about a lot. This hotel is fine for business travellers who just want a clean bed and a simple breakfast but will eat out during the day and evening. I would stay there again when travelling on business. This hotel comprises an old but rather majestic building which has retained most of its original features. The rooms are spacious as are some of the bathrooms, but old fashioned and simple. Unfortunately some of them smell of tobacco smoke. There is a good heating system in the winter and windows that open in the summer. A buffet breakfast is offered […] which is simple but of good quality. Tinned fruit and the usual cereals etc.. A good selection of breads and pastries, cheeses and cold meats, boiled eggs and toast. The coffee is drinkable which is unusual for the cheaper end of Brussels. The location is good if one wants to be near a good shopping Road (Rue Neuve) and the Grande Place. The other side is not so great being the start of the red light district which surrounds the North Station. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. The only extra is a daily city tax payment which one settles before leaving. Hairdryers are available from reception free but have to be asked for and guaranteed by a credit card. There are good metro connections and access although Rogier the nearest stop is difficult at the moment because of renovation and a resulting lack of escalator access and no lifts which is not good is one has a suitcase in tow. "Probably a classical from the colonial times"
The hotel is easy to reach from Rogier metro (2 mins) and is situated right behind Sheraton. Some restaurants are nearby and many more around Grand Place, only 10 mins gentle walk. A tired looking ambiance, rather dark internally. As the name suggests, the hotel is still living in the past with a wooden lift, and decorative columns in grandish looking […] entrance hall with high ceiling and statues all around. My bed was too soft and tended to sink when l lied down. All the classical features of a hotel d'epoch. On the positive and modern side, wireless internet, free of charge, worked very well in the room (3rd floor). The reception staff was excellent and very courteous - printed my airline boarding pass and brought it to me in an envelope! Did not try the breakfast - so no comments there. Das Hotel liegt Mitten in der Innenstadt, U-Bahn 2 Minuten Fußmarsch. Das Hotelgebäude ist wirklich schön. Anzumerken sind die wirklich kleinen Zimmer und das Bad ist glaube ich für Menschen ausgelegt, die sehr sehr klein und schmal sein sollten. Das Personal sprach zwar Englisch, aber man sollte sie nicht überfordern mit kompliziertem Satzbau. Parkplätze […] hat leider das Hotel nicht. War voll im Rahmen und für ein paar Tage total okay. Gut war auch der inklusive WiFi-Zugang, der auch tatsächlich tadellos funktioniert hat! Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans cet hotel. Le seul regret que nous ayons eu c'est qu'on nous ait refusé de nous fournir une chambre avec un lit double au lieu de deux lits. "Hotel des Colonies à Bruxelles"
Hôtel bien situé, une station de métro ou 500m de la gare Nord, belle architecture, rénové mais reste vieillot au niveau des installations (ascenseur presque de l'époque coloniale et TV dans la chambre datant des années 90 ou presque). Bon accueil et très bon buffet pour le petit-déjeuner. Malgré l'interet wi-fi gratuit et disponible au niveau de la […] réception (avec desktop à disposition), le wi-fi dans les étages est non seulement payant mais en plus ne fonctionne pas, malgré un appel à a réception qui n'a pas suivi dans le service. Dommage. La déco de la réception n'est pas si mal avec notamment une fontaine mais le décor aurait pu être plus "colonial" au niveau des décors, voire accessoires. Das Haus selbst hat die besten Zeiten schon hinter sich und bedarf einer Renovierung, insbesondere der Zimmer. ロビーでは無料。(ロビーでwepキーをもらう) 接続は問題なし。 部屋からは1泊7EUR そして僕が宿泊した部屋は 場所が悪いのか、接続が1MBしか出ない。 ぜんぜん使えなかった。 結局無駄金払って、ロビーでやってました。 (欧州のホテルはこんなものかな) あとシャワーがちょろちょろしか出ないのが 使いにくかったですね。。Genuine Hotels.com guest review
