"Great service for a super price"
Staff was very helpful. Room was nice, clean and up-to-date.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the location is in a run down area. It is right next to a car repair shop. It is not in a touristy area so one gets to glimpse the real life of Athenians. There's some nice restaurants nearby, and a metro stop is 2 minutes away. A wonderful bakery is 1 minute away on the other side of the street. a local rotisserie is on the right 5 min, so is a supermarket, […] which we used twice. the hotel is clean, updated. the service very good. they bring things to your room. breakfast is not included, and if it is, it is not displayed. they gather what they have and bring it to you. not sure about asking for more food. we didn't have breakfast there. quite expensive. they have two computers, but neither have SD card slots, not very helpful for a photographer. the staff is nice, accommodating. all speaks english well. "Excellent retreat from busy athens"
All aspects excellent, a diamond in the rough and perfectly located for public transport and access to athens. One of the best hotels we have experienced in europe and great value for money.Genuine Expedia guest review

It was a very good experience to comeback to a nice comfortable and clean hotel after a long day of sightseeing!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great staff, good value, super clean."
The hotel met all our expectations. 5 min walking from victoria station and larissa train station. The staff was amazing and they were always with smile on their face, like greeks are.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent value and great for touring."
This hotel's staff were always very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is beautiful. The hotel's location is a bit odd, because it's more in a urban residential area that might make some uncomfortable, but we had absolutely no problem with it and always felt safe. The hotel is very close to a metro line (Victoria Square), which is fantastic for touring […] and made getting around very easy. The bathrooms are very nice and the hydro tub is very nice to come back to after a long day exploring around town. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to 2 metro stations"
Staff very friendly and helpful. Modern & excellent hotel with all mod coms and close to two metro stations. The price was right but the neigborhood might be considered less than desireable. This was not a problem for us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"All around good hotel"
Absolutely wonderful budget hotel that is clean, comfortable, and lovely decor. I recommend this hotel for everyone.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for the price"
The hotel is a gem; some people mentioned it may not seem like a good neighborhood but it is TOTALLY fine! If you come via Metro, simply get off at the Victoria Sq. stop and walk across the square (you will know the square because it's a block of its own) right down the middle and continue on the road than ensues. You will cross one "major" street with […] a light and then go another 75 meters and you'll see it on your left. There is a few great restaurants around Victoria Square and a great bakery just one block up from the square on the right side corner as you are walking to the hotel. It's called "The Bakery" but it's in Greek so you may not be able to read it. Anyhow, she is a blonde woman, maybe 40, and her name is Elizabeth. What a surprise she would get if you called her by her name. I totally walked everywhere in Athens but I love to walk; I only took the metro to and from the airport. I walked from the hotel up to the top of the biggest hill then walked up to the Acropolis; I saw every "must see" by foot from the hotel in 2 days. I did take the Tram to the "Athen's Riveria" and checked out a couple of great beaches. You can get off the tram at Edem and walk to the best of the beaches from there. I know this because I took the tram all the way to Voula(?) and then walked back to Edem. The last four beaches closest to Edem were the best by far. Oh the room is huge, the balcony is huge, the jetted tub is awesome and there is endless hot water Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location to stay while visiting Athens."
It is very close to the metro and only 2 stops from everything you want to do, including visiting ancient sites, shopping, great food and nightlife. My only complaint it that the television only features news and reruns. But you will have so much to do, who has time for television.Genuine Expedia guest review
"excellent accomdations, very friendly staff"
free parking, hard to find in Athens, recenlly remodeled, very nice hotel. Highly recommend. Not the best area but felt safeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hidden jewel in a run down street! Has it all, private free parking, internet etc. Sound insulation from other rooms is the only actual negative if thats what you wanna call itGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice, functional hotel in a rather doubtful area"
Overall, the hotel is very well maintained - if located in another area, it would be a superb quality-price deal ... But ... the area around is just not secure. A woman should not walk around alone there later in the evening. Otherwise, very, very good hotel, with very friendly employees and very clean rooms. But a hotel needs to be judged in its context […] - thus, the lower overall rating. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

A palace in a rundown neighborhood, the Centrotel was a jewel of a place. The staff exuded hospitality and helpfulness. The room was lovely and comfortable. "Immaculate? Jacuzzi? 10 min to Agora? Yes, Please!"
Four night stay was near perfect for our needs. Overall great with few exceptions. Pillows were not very comfortable and lighting a little extreme were the only issues with the room. Slept well regardless. Filter coffee was nothing special. Victoria Square is less than five minutes walk for quality breakfast alternatives and quick access to Monastiraki […] etc. via metro, (only two stops away), easy transfer to/from airport. Neighborhood a little run down but never felt the least bit threatened. Staff was very helpful, Evi's restaurant suggestions were spot on. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel, safe but scruffy neighborhood"
I selected this hotel based on the Trip Advisor reviews, and found them to be quite accurate. The price was excellent, the room was large and very clean, the service was friendly and responsive. I stayed 4 nights, then left Greece for a few days and came back... I booked two more nights at Centrotel. I tended to either take the metro to Victoria station […] and walk (about 4 blocks), or have cabs drop me at Victoria. Though the area is not scenic, I felt perfectly safe. The hotel staff was great! Enjoy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel is very nice. neighborhood is so-so, which is why the hotel is inexpensive. (It's cost 2X that in a touristy neighborhood) but the neighborhood is safe, just not attractive. hotel was a tad difficult to find as the street name changes.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, great people, let down by the area"
The hotel is fine, the people super - extremely helpful and pleasant. It is just in a very sleazy district. Full of recent immigrants of all nationalities. They say it is safe but it did not seem so. There is a square about a third of a mile directly up the street with some decent small cafes but the busy main street nearby is somewhat threatening with […] many people sitting on doorsteps and entrances. The bed was extraordinarily hard and low. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Little gem in the centre of Athens."
At first I had doubts due to the location but luckily I booked my weekend stay here! While the surrounding is a bit questionable (a majority immigrant area) but it wasn't a slum. In fact, I felt safe walking the street to the metro at night. Metro Victoria on the blue line is just 200 metres away which you could connect to the airport and Syntagma stations. As […] you enter the hotel you will be surprised by the beautiful lobby contrasting the less kept street. Check in was a breeze and the staff were friendly and informative. Rooms are huge and clean with a comfy bed, dimmable lights, large cupboard and a small TV. Some rooms have balconies. Bathrooms are big, clean with good water pressure. Free Wifi through out the hotel with two computers and a printer at the cafe free of charge. Frre parking too. Truly a gem in the middle of Athens. Taxi was 6€ from the center past midnight. "Very nice hotel with extremely helpful staff"
We stayed in this hotel for a short trip to Athens. The hotel is 4 blocks away from 2 main metro stations, (in a not so nice neighborhood though), but it's secure, clean and good value for money. It's not in the city center, but being close to the metro stations makes it easy to move around. The best thing about this hotel is the friendly staff. This place was awesome!!!! From the staff to the room to the food and everything in between!!!! If I ever come back to Athens this place for sure has my business and will reccomend to friends!Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff was not at all helpful to a foreign traveler. Male did not help me get my bag up the stairs to my room and there was not an elevator. No one spoke English at the reception desk. A bit noisy because right on the main road.Genuine Expedia guest review
Centrotel was great. Most of the staff was incredibly helpful, spoke English very well, and were all very nice. The rooms were clean. Room service was sweet (expensive, but not outrageous). My only complaint is that breakfast costs an extra 10 euros per person. For the price of the room, I think that's a little unnecessary. Overall, though, I had a […] great experience. "Beautiful hotel out of tourist area"
This hotel is easy walking distance from 2 metro stations (Victoria station is open as of 6/7) which is important because it is not in the main tourist area. It is a couple of metro stops away. The area appears more rundown if you approach from the Larissa station but it is quite lively at night at the Victoria station area and there are a few restaurants […] there. We felt safe walking at night. It is more like a mixed urban area. I would not call it seedy. We had stayed near the plaka a couple of weeks earlier and appreciated getting to know a different part of Athens. The hotel is beautifully appointed. Appears to have been renovated within the last couple of years. Rooms had the appearance of a 3 star hotel and are very comfortable and modern. Bathroom has full bathtub. Bathrobes and safe are available, Our room had a balcony overlooking the street. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Free Wifi. We left the window open all night and it was not noisy at all. Bottom line, if you want to save a few dollars, stay in a really nice hotel and don't mind taking the metro to sightsee this is your hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel, Not So Great Location"
Centrotel is a beautiful little gem tucked into an iffy neighborhood in Athens. We only spent one night there in transition between ferry and airport. The room was comfortable though the bed was a little firm (futon-like). The bathroom had all the necessities, including hot water and a jetted tub, plus lovely almond-smelling shampoo! While the neighborhood […] is iffy, it's really not a problem. We walked the 5-10 minutes to the Metro and encountered NO problems or issues. It's just that the area is home to the "immigrant" population of Athens, which the Greeks tend to look down upon. The hotel is located out of the main "downtown" area of Athens -- several Metro stops from the Acropolis. If it's your first time to Athens and you're uncomfortable finding your way around, I would suggest a hotel closer to the Plaka area. If you're a seasoned traveler, like to save money and don't mind traveling a bit further to get downtown, then I would recommend Centrotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Nothing was a trouble for staff, and they went out of their way to be helpful. 5 kg laundry for €10 good value. Pillows like rocks, but staff did try to find softer pillows for us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good clean hotel at reasonable price"
Stayed overnight en route from Crete to North America. Staff friendly, room clean, quiet street. Breakfast is average for Greece, and few others used it since it is not cheap. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. When we arrived they bumped us up to a bigger room because it was our first time there. I'm not sure what our original room would have been like but the one we got was fantastic. Clean, spacious, bright, modern, good bathroom, a balcony. The staff were helpful and friendly too. The hotel is a […] bit outside the very centre/tourist area of the city, but we got around very easily using the Metro, which is only five minutes walk away. hotel was excellent, extremely good value! The surrounding area isn't that bad and the city centre is just minutes away in a taxi. Highly recommended!Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was great. It was very clean and in a great location with proximity to the metro. The staff were all very customer service oriented and gave us many wonderful restaurant suggestions that we would not otherwise have gotten.Genuine Expedia guest review
The only reason I haven't given this hotel an overall rating of 5 is because of the location. It is very convenient to get around with two metro stations near by. However, there are some very shady streets in the vicinity.Genuine Expedia guest review
i liked to hotel and the room was nice too.The location was however not the best as it is in the middle of a residential area . Great value for money , if staying overnight/short stay .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
overly we got our money's worth, a pleasant and modernly furnished hotel in the midst of a less attractive neighborhood, however, proximity to the nearest metro station compensates. We were surprised to find out that price did not include breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent value for money."
Exceptional stay at this beautifully renovated budget-rate hotel in June 2013. Came to Athens for 2.5 days to see the Acropolis and National Archaeological Museum. Location is in a neighbourhood off the immediate tourist path but within 30 min walking distance of Monastiraki, or a quick metro ride to Monastiraki, Syntagma or Acropolis (Victoria and […] Larissa station are both easy walking distance from the hotel.) "Everything you need & more"
The staff here are lovely, very helpful and personal. My balcony on 4th floor faced the street but - by the time I locked shut the metal blinds (great for daytime ventilation), locked the glass doors, pulled the net curtains then the thick curtains, and turned the air-con on - I never heard a squeak (the road isn't busy anyway). Balcony is a useful […] comfortable size, faced away from the sun apart from early morn & late eve - PERFECT ! Centrotel is a great hotel. The staff were very helpful with organizing transport, recommending places eat and with directions etc. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The only downside is that it is situated in a bit of a grubby area. "Good value budget hotel in central Athens"
For the price this is an exceptionally good hotel in central Athens. It is modern with reasonably well equipped rooms and good quality furnishings, bathroom, etc. I was at the rear of the hotel with a small furnished balcony overlooking a central courtyard surrounded by residential blocks. I had booked a small room but was surprised to find it had both […] a double and a single bed, so plenty of room for one person. This area, 10 mins walk, to the north of Omonia Square is rather quieter than the area where many of the central hotels are. It is a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro station (Victoria) and not much further to Larissa station. The street is reasonably quiet so the rooms at the front should not be disturbed by noise although the street is poorly lit. There are a a number of bars and cafes close-by at Victoria Square. As a regular traveller to Athens I would certainly stay here again and recommend to friends. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very bad area to stay - avoid!!"
We were led astray by all the great reviews of this place. It is in a very poor area of Athens and far from any attractions. We did not feel safe walking at night in the area and you have to walk to the metro to get anywhere. Not really any places to eat or have breakfast around the hotel. The hotel itself is fine, but there is a destroyed building […] right across the street, which is what you will have a view of. We were really dismayed with the area. When we told locals where we were staying they frowned at us and shook their heads. Not what you want to see on vacation or any other time! Really, find a better place to stay!! We paid for three nights in advance, but checked out after the second day without a refund so that tells you what kind of hotel it is. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good base for getting around Athens"
Brilliant hotel, good base for Athens sightseeing, near to metro station but not in a nice area. Not a pleasant walk back from metro to hotel late at night, quite dark and dirty and smelly. Hotel is more like a 4 star very nice and would be very expensive in a nicer area.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great value and service!"
Centrotel was a wonderful place for a central location close to two metro stations, not the nicest area of Athens but we never felt unsafe. We will mention that a lack of street signs in Athens make this place hard to find initially!!! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms are lovely and clean as is the lobby and overall appearance […] of this hotel. "Good city break."
The hotel was a delight, clean and welcoming. It is located conveniently close (3-5 minute walk) from the Metro and Victoria Square where there are ample eating and drinking places. The continental breakfast very good value for money 7.50 Euros. Unfortunately, Athens is really suffering, dirty streets and beggars. Main tourist area OK but outside that […] just be aware of pickpockets.
