My husband and I loved this hotel. It is very clean and the receptionists are extremely helpful. Right upon our arrival, they gave us very detailed information and maps on the sightseeing, which is very helpful. The hotel is literally 1 minutes walk away from the metro that goes to the ferry station (we took ferry to Santorini) and 2 or 3 minutes away […] from another metro close to Plaka. It is less than 10 minutes walk to Plaka. Great location. We had to check out before 6:00am to catch the ferry, the receptionist even packed a FULL BAG of breakfast for us so that we could take it with us. The ONLY thing you might not like is that the room is very small (which we don't care that much, compared to the great location and nicest service). I would recommend this to friends/families and go back there again if I visited Athens again (we stayed at Intercontinental for one night, it was spacious, but very tourist-UNFRIENDLY location and service) Read more

Front desk and dining staff were very gracious and helpful. Room though small was very nice and modern. The area around hotel at first appearance seemed like an area to be concerned about. But we had no problems and a two block walk put us on the promenade to the Acropolis.

A few minutes after being shown to our room a young lady knocked at our door with a small tasting plate including an aperatif which was a lovely surprise. Great hotel, very comfortable, great breakfast, friendly/helpful staff, clean, close enough to walk to tourist attractions, but not on top of the madness. Hotel restaurant and bar very elegant, but much under utilized. I hope they can contine to support that service, We took advantage of the complimentary breakfast, with a good variety of eggs, bacon, […] fruits, cereals, sweets, fresh squeezed orange juice, latte, espresso, etc. Value $22 Euro.... i.e. what you would pay if not included. Only issue, we had a window facing the street, and the outside lights were difficult to block out during the evening. When we discovered the lights were in the outside window sill of our room, we asked the front desk if they could help. They told us they turn the lights out if they bother their guests. We slept much better the second night. We rode the subway in from the airport, no transfers required, about 7 minute walk to hotel from station (monastiraki). 12 Euro total for two. Make sure you are on the right train, not obvious. When you come out of the station downtown, walk down Ermou street, the hotel is on a side street about three blocks down Ermou, a brown building visible from Ermou. Thisio station might put you closer, but requires transfer. Read more

We really enjoyed our stay .. and would probably give higher marks had our expectations not been set so high based on other customer reviews. Additionally, regarding neighborhood, I'm not sure any place in Athens would be in a good neighborhood (there were many protests going on while we were there) .. which is such a shame. City was filthy and FULL […] of graffiti. Also, we arrived on a Sunday afternoon which has a "street market" (ie garage sale) on the hotel's tiny little street which scared us to death. Avoid arriving/staying on a Sunday if you can. We had the Executive Suite which was nice - but not sure worth the price (after having stayed one night at the Intercontinental the room seemed very small in comparison and there is no - zero - drawer space). OK .. now that I have said all that, the staff is fabulous and probably the best part of hotel - besides the spectacular view. We spent three nights at the O&B and found the hotel to be clean and very comfortable. We had a junior suite which was the size of an average room in a US hotel, quite comfortable for a party of two. The view of the Acropolis off the side of the patio was a nice treat. Breakfast was both a made to order (omlets, etc.) and buffet with local cheese, fruit […] and homemade breads. The staff was very helpful about restaurants and sightseeing information. There are two Metro stops within walking distance and we were close to several markets where you can purchase souvenirs and local products such as olive oil, soap and honey. O&B is the best hotel we've stayed in Europe yet. The staff is very nice and helpful. We were greeted with an upgrade upon check-in, which included a bigger room, complimentary amenities and a welcome plate of hors d'oeuvres. The Acropolis can literally be seen from the hotel's location, and is about a 10 minute walk to many of the ruins, and the city's […] downtown. Breakfast was great. Fresh bread and pastries, cereal, cheeses and cold cuts, and fruits are laid out buffet style for the guests. You are asked if you'd like coffee or fresh orange juice to drink. Water was poured for us when we were seated. Our first morning they made us omelette upon request, and the next days, scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, and tomatoes were part of the buffet. We always came home to a fresh room. It would be made up in the day, and we noticed that coming home later in the night, the bed was prepared without the extra bed covers and decorative pillows so it's ready to sleep on. The staff also recommended us to a restaurant just around the corner that had live music, and pretty good food (if fall off the bone pork shank is your thing). Overall, I would stay here again. While the surrounding area seems a bit shady, and rough (though big cities/downtowns in Europe seem to all resemble the same background), it really didn't take away from the great experience the hotel provided. Don't bother with the streets close to the hotel, only 2 blocks down and you are in Ancient Agora. 2 blocks up and you are in the nice Plaka. The room is small but very clean and well equipped. The service is extremely friendly.
