The views of the Acropolis from the upper floors were great and the balcony/terrace was a very pleasant place to enjoy a meal. We were tired and we enjoyed the pleasant room. The location was great because we were able to stroll out to the road up to the Parthenon by only going a block through the busy streets. The gentleman at the desk voluntarily showed us where to go on a map so we could make the most of our time. Only issue, we had a window facing the street, and the outside lights were difficult to block out during the evening. When we discovered the lights were in the outside window sill of our room, we asked the front desk if they could help. They told us they turn the lights out if they bother their guests. We slept much better the second night. We rode the subway in from the airport, no transfers required, about 7 minute walk to hotel from station (monastiraki). 12 Euro total for two. Make sure you are on the right train, not obvious. When you come out of the station downtown, walk down Ermou street, the hotel is on a side street about three blocks down Ermou, a brown building visible from Ermou. Thisio station might put you closer, but requires transfer. Read more

We stayed in Athens for a couple of nights after visiting the islands. Check-in went smoothly. The front desk staff spoke good English and were helpful showing us where everything was on a map. The breakfast included breakfast each morning was sufficient. We did not take advantage of the made-to-order eggs, but the scrambled eggs offered were tasty. […] The sheets were very comfortable, even more so than the five-star resort we stayed at in Mykonos. My wife loved the down comfortable, especially because I turned the thermostat down to provide relief from the heat outside. The room and bathroom were a good size. The double sinks were great for me and my wife. The only complaint was that the lights in the bathroom never got very bright, and the bathroom lights would gradually change from dark to light and back the entire time while we were in the there. The Psyrri neighborhood where the hotel is located is known as an up and coming neighborhood for nightlife. During the day, the area looks less than desirable as an industrial area with graffiti and small thrift stores everywhere. My wife wasn't as comfortable exploring the area at night after seeing those sights on the taxi drive in, so I can't comment on the immediate area around the hotel, but it sounds like it could be fun. The hotel is close to the Acropolis, Syntagma Square, and Plaka. We walked everywhere, but did see the metro rail stations close by as well. Read more

O&B is the best hotel we've stayed in Europe yet. The staff is very nice and helpful. We were greeted with an upgrade upon check-in, which included a bigger room, complimentary amenities and a welcome plate of hors d'oeuvres. The Acropolis can literally be seen from the hotel's location, and is about a 10 minute walk to many of the ruins, and the city's […] downtown. Breakfast was great. Fresh bread and pastries, cereal, cheeses and cold cuts, and fruits are laid out buffet style for the guests. You are asked if you'd like coffee or fresh orange juice to drink. Water was poured for us when we were seated. Our first morning they made us omelette upon request, and the next days, scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, and tomatoes were part of the buffet. We always came home to a fresh room. It would be made up in the day, and we noticed that coming home later in the night, the bed was prepared without the extra bed covers and decorative pillows so it's ready to sleep on. The staff also recommended us to a restaurant just around the corner that had live music, and pretty good food (if fall off the bone pork shank is your thing). Overall, I would stay here again. While the surrounding area seems a bit shady, and rough (though big cities/downtowns in Europe seem to all resemble the same background), it really didn't take away from the great experience the hotel provided. Loved the staff and the hotel itself. Ended up hugging the staff good bye. They were so sweet and helpful. Great breakfast included, free wifi, sweet welcome tray upon arrival. They made us a breakfast bag as we had to leave at 5:30 am for our flight. It had (for 2 of us), 4 sandwiches, 2 bottles of juice, 2 apples and 2 bottles of water. O&B was a bit hard to find after arrival at Thissio metro station but was really close to the station and all the must-see tourist sites in Athens. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The surrounding neighborhood was a bit sketchy - There was a XXX DVD shop right next door, however in general Athens is a very safe city. We felt safe walking around […] until pretty late into the night. The breakfast was consistently good with fresh fruits, baked goods, yogurt, deli meats, scrambled eggs, etc. Unfortunately, we did not get to enjoy the nice view of Acropolis from the hotel as we stayed on the first floor for two nights but I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely consider staying here again in the future. If you are coming from the airport, I would […] pay the cash for the taxi instead of the metro. The metro ride takes a long time, gets really crowded, and then spits you out several blocks away from the hotel. Plus, the road signs are bad, so it's worthwhile to have someone bring you there that knows where they are going... and cabs are REALLY cheap in Greece (compared to US). The hotel staff made great recommendations, booked things for us, and even packed us a breakfast/lunch for our ferry ride to Santorini. I would go back in a heartbeat! Read more
